In this Final Degree Project, we show an intervention proposal in a Primary Education classroom to optimize the learning of Mathematics through the Outdoor Learning methodology.
In this sense, we have elaborated a theoretical framework in which relevant aspects of the methodology have been detailed, related to the legal regulations in force in Spain and, in addition, real cases of implementation of this methodology in Spanish classrooms have been exposed both in relation to Mathematics and other areas of the educational level of Primary Education.
On the other hand, an intervention proposal has been elaborated based on the optimization of the Mathematics teaching process through the Outdoor Learning methodology in which six outdoor work sessions are proposed with experimentation of the concepts being worked on and with dynamic and realistic activities in which the student is the centre of the learning process, since the work is done through experimentation and cooperation. That is why this intervention proposal aims at the motivation and active participation of the students during the mathematics sessions.Educació
A nest for peace: an experience of education through art
voluntaria. El estudio realizado es de corte cualitativo, inductivo y de alcance descriptivo;
An analysis of the outcomes of four nonformal education art workshops that
took place in Morelos State, Mexico. These workshops were part of the “A nest for peace”
project developed by La Ventana Infinita, A. C. (The Infinite Window, Civil Association). The
goal of this workshops is to achieve, through various forms of artistic expression, reflection
and awareness about the implications of violence in the environment, and to generate ways of
becoming more resilient and involved in constructing peace. These workshops were offered
to participants from different age groups who attended voluntarily. This is a qualitative and
inductive study with descriptive scope; data were obtained through observation and the tran-
scription of conversations organized around triggering questions that followed the reading of
a picture book. The analysis required the construction of categories according to the process
of grounded theory. The findings suggest that the perception of different forms of violence
and their meaning varies among different age groups; what remains constant among all par-
ticipants is the perception of violence as moral harm that needs to be healed so that those who
experience it can move from being a victim to becoming an agent capable of contributing to
the construction of peace.Educació

Application of Blended Learning to Veterinary Gross Anatomy Practical Sessions: Students’ Perceptions of Their Learning Experience and Academic Outcomes
The use of blended learning strategies is increasingly common in health sciences, including
veterinary medicine; however, there are very few descriptions of these methods being applied to
practicals. We describe here the application of blended learning based on the implementation of
flipped classrooms with collaborative learning and gamification to the 2020–2021 veterinary medicine
gross anatomy practicals at CEU Cardenal Herrera University (Spain). Students prepared for the
sessions by pre-viewing videos and taking a quiz before the start. The sessions were conducted in
small groups where students learned through collaborative work and reviewed their learning with a
card game. A small but significant increase was observed when comparing the scores of practical
exams of the locomotor apparatus with those of 2018–2019 (6.79 ± 2.22 vs. 6.38 ± 2.24, p < 0.05), while
the scores were similar (7.76 ± 1.99 vs. 7.64 ± 1.92) for the organ system exams. Students’ responses in
a satisfaction survey were mostly positive (>80%) regarding the motivating and learning-facilitating
effect of this educational method. Our work shows that the application of blended learning in
anatomy practicals based on a flipped classroom and with elements of gamification and collaborative
work can be an effective way to improve the learning experience of students.Veterinari
Nowadays, Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) is a very
controversial topic, as their incorporation into the vast majority of daily activities has
made them part of our lives. The situation created by the Covid-19 pandemic contributed
to a notorious increase in their use in families, both as entertainment and an important
part of our leisure time, as well as informal education, reaching even the youngest
children and most households. For these reasons, this work aims to promote the good use
of new technologies in the family environment of Infant Education pupils, thus proposing
an intervention proposal made up of eight workshops aimed at parents, children, and
parents and children at this stage, whose ultimate aim is to make both parents and pupils
aware and understand that there are other uses for ICT apart from entertainment, as well
as promoting the creation of rules for their use in a way that is agreed by both parties.
This learning is necessary both at school and in the family environment, as they facilitate
many activities of daily life, but when they are abused, problems begin to appear that can
later lead to more serious ones.Educació
Satiating Effect of a Ketogenic Diet and Its Impact on Muscle Improvement and Oxidation State in Multiple Sclerosis Patients
It was previously established that Multiple sclerosis (MS) generates energy alterations at the mitochondrial level related to the loss of muscle mass. Ketone bodies, mainly beta-hydroxybutyrate (BHB), re-establish this energy alteration causing satiety, changes in body composition and a decrease in hormone-dependant hunger, such as ghrelin. The aim of this study was to establish possible improvements in body composition and the level of oxidation in patients with MS, by means of the satiating effect of a ketogenic diet.A pilot study was carried out with 27 MS patients who were given a Mediterranean isocaloric and ketogenic diet for 4 months. Anthropometric measurements, as well as satiety and hunger perception (VAS scale), were taken. In addition, BHB and paraoxonase 1 (PON1), as an oxidation marker, were measured by spectrophotometric automated assays, and ghrelin was determined by an enzyme immunoassay in the serum. All measurements were taken before and after the intervention.A significant increase in satiety perception at lunch and dinner and of BHB in the blood was obtained. Hunger perception decreased significantly at lunch and dinner with similar levels of ghrelin. In addition, an important increase in lean mass and PON1 was observed. To our knowledge, this is the first study addressing improvements in body composition, oxidation state and metabolism in MS patients, based on the satiating effect of a Mediterranean isocaloric diet.A ketogenic diet increases lean mass and decreases inflammation and oxidation possibly as a consequence of an increase in satiety and decrease in hunger in MS patients. This research was funded by the Catholic University Foundation San Vicente Mártir, for the research project The Impact of Triglycerides on Multiple Sclerosis (Promotion code 2018-203-001).Nutrición humana y dietétic
Nutrition planning and hydration control during a six-stage Pirineos FIT Endurance trail-running race. A case report
Ultra-endurance competitions are highly demanding sport events for athletes and require a carefully controlled nutrition, hydration and supplementation before, during and after the physical effort. Scientific research has shown a positive relationship between dietetic (caloric and macronutrient ingestion) recommendations and sport performance. This study describes the nutritional and hydration planning applied to an athlete competing at the Pirineos FIT (a semi-self-sufficient trail-running multi-stage event). Diary caloric ingestion was around 4000 Kcal, 550 Kcal were consumed during the race. In general, the athlete maintained the minimal recommendable levels of hydration (2.5% Body Weight Loss) and Borg's Scale of Exertion (RPE) was used to report subjective perception of fatigue after each stage. Hematological and biochemical parameters showed a normal response to endurance physical exercise. Therefore, the nutrition and hydration planning were successfully applied.Nutrición humana y dietétic

Graphene-Doped Polymethyl Methacrylate (PMMA) as a New Restorative Material in Implant-Prosthetics: In Vitro Analysis of Resistance to Mechanical Fatigue
Background and Purpose: Provisional prostheses in restorations over several implants with immediate loading in completely edentulous patients increase the risk of frequent structural fractures. An analysis was performed of the resistance to fracture of prosthetic structures with cantilevers using graphene-doped polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) resins and CAD-CAM technology. Methods: A master model was produced with four implants measuring 4 mm in diameter and spaced 3 mm apart, over which 44 specimens representing three-unit fixed partial prostheses with a cantilever measuring 11 mm were placed. These structures were cemented over titanium abutments using dual cure resin cement. Twenty-two of the 44 units were manufactured from machined PMMA discs, and 22 were manufactured from PMMA doped with graphene oxide nanoparticles (PMMA-G). All of the samples were tested in a chewing simulator with a load of 80 N until fracture or 240,000 load applications. Results: The mean number of load applications required for temporary restoration until the fracture was 155,455 in the PMMA-G group versus 51,136 in the PMMA group. Conclusions: Resistance to fracture under cyclic loading was three times greater in the PMMA-G group than in the PMMA group.Odontologí
Body surface area is a predictor of maturity status in school children and adolescents
Generally, Body surface area (BSA) changes significantly during growth and maturation. These increases
portend a possible relationship between body size as determined by BSA with maturational status in children and
adolescents. The aim is to determine the relationship between maturity status (MS) obtained by non-invasive anthropometric
methods and body surface area (BSA) in children and adolescents of both sexes in a regional population of Chile.
Additionally, we sought to verify the type of linear or nonlinear relationship between MS and BSA in both sexes.ANID-PFCHA/Doctorado Becas Chile/2020- folio 72210418.Ciencias de la Actividad Física y del Deport
