Functional examination of desing modes in Kutadgu Bilig
Büyülü ve güçlü bir düzenin temsilcisi olan dil, sadece sözlü ve yazılı iletişimde kullandığımız basit bir sistemler bütünü değildir. İnsan var olduğu andan itibaren kendini ifade etmek, evreni anlamlandırmak ve iletişim kurmak için dili kendine vasıta kılmıştır. Anlamın çeşitli etkenlerle sürekli değişen ve gelişen bir niteliğe sahip olduğu ve biçim düzeyine indirgenemeyeceği düşüncesi, çağdaş dilbilim yaklaşımlarının dili işlevsel açıdan ele alınması gerekliliğini doğurmuştur. Gramer kitaplarında "isteme kipleri, uyarı kipleri, dilek kipleri" gibi adlandırmaları bulunan tasarlama kipleri; bir eylemin şart, emir, istek veya gereklilik gibi farklı durumlarda ifade edilmesini sağlayan sınırlı yapıları içerir. Kip kavramı, şekil ifade eden bir olguyken kiplik daha geniş anlamda dilin anlamsal ve işlevsel özelliklerini ifade eder. Karahanlı Türkçesi dönemi eseri olan Kutadgu Bilig'de şart, emir, gereklilik kipi olmak üzere üç tasarlama kipi vardır. Biçim ifade eden bu tasarlama kipleri sözcelere yalnızca isimlendirildikleri anlamları katmazlar. Biçimbirimlerin çok işlevli kullanımı tasarlama kipi işaretleyicilerinin, asli işlevleri olan şart, gereklilik ve emir kiplik alanları dışında başka kiplik alanlarını da işaretlediği sonucunu ortaya çıkarır. Bu tez çalışmasında, Kutadgu Bilig adlı eserde yer alan tasarlama kiplerinin kiplik alanları işlevsellik kuramlarının prensipleri dikkate alınarak incelenmiştir. Tasarlama kiplerinin, adını aldığı işlevlerin ötesinde de farklı işlevleri olduğu belirlenerek, dilin anlam üretme zenginliğini göstermek amaçlanmıştır. Kutadgu Bilig üzerinde yapılan çalışmada şart kipinin 18, emir kipinin 26, gereklilik kipinin 12 farklı işlevi olduğu belirlenmiştir. İşlevler belirlenirken metinde şart, emir ve gereklilik kipi işaretleyicilerinin yer aldığı beyitlerin metin içindeki bağlamı temel alınmıştır. Tespit edilen her bir işlev, dilin içinde bulunduğu dönemdeki işlekliğini ve anlam çeşitliliğini yansıtması açısından önemlidir.Language, which represents a magical and powerful order, is not merely a simple system used in verbal and written communication. Since the existence of humans, language has been a tool for self-expression, understanding the universe, and establishing communication. The idea that meaning has a nature that constantly changes and evolves due to various factors and cannot be reduced to a formal level has necessitated the functional analysis of language in contemporary linguistic approaches. The paradigms found in grammar books, referred to as "imperative moods, optative moods, and subjunctive moods," encompass design moods that allow an action to be expressed in different states such as condition, command, request, or necessity. While the concept of mood represents a structural phenomenon, modality, in a broader sense, denotes the semantic and functional properties of the language. In the Karakhanid Turkish period work, Kutadgu Bilig, there are three design moods: conditional, imperative, and necessitative moods. These structurally defined design moods do not only add the meanings they are named after to sentences. The multi-functional use of morphemes reveals that design mood indicators denote other mood areas besides their primary functions of condition, necessity, and command. In this thesis, the modal fields of the design moods in the work Kutadgu Bilig have been examined by considering the principles of functional linguistics theories. It aims to demonstrate the richness of meaning production in language by determining that design moods have various functions beyond their nominal functions. The study conducted on Kutadgu Bilig identified 18 different functions for the conditional mood, 26 for the imperative mood, and 12 for the necessitative mood. While determining these functions, the context of the couplets containing the indicators of the conditional, imperative, and necessitative moods in the text was taken as the basis. Each identified function is significant in reflecting the operationality and semantic diversity of the language during its period
Addressing the Global Logistics Performance Index Rankings with Methodological Insights and an Innovative Decision Support Framework
This study examines the Logistics Performance Index (LPI) rankings developed by the World Bank from a methodological perspective and proposes an alternative decision support framework. LPI serves as an interactive tool that helps countries identify challenges, innovative solutions, and opportunities in their trade and logistics sectors. In this study, the efficiency of logistics operations in 118 countries was evaluated using an integrated multi-criteria decision-making (MCDM) model objectively weighted by the Entropy method. Countries were ranked using the MCRAT, SAW, TOPSIS, and FUCA methods. According to the findings, large datasets provide more robust insights for sensitivity analyses, and wider weighting coefficient combinations make the data more meaningful. In addition, it is suggested to use low-compensation methods instead of classical additive methods for LPI. Unlike other studies in literature, this research applied an innovative sensitivity analysis to test the robustness of the model and comprehensively examined the effects of weighting techniques based on over 2500 different MCDM results. The findings suggest that the FUCA method should be recommended to decision-makers for calculating LPI rankings due to its simplicity, practicality, low compensatory power, and low sensitivity. This study offers methodological improvements when evaluating logistics performance and provides significant contributions to decision-making processes. The findings are expected to provide a valuable resource for policymakers and businesses in understanding a country's position in global competition, as well as serving as a reference for researchers evaluating the logistics performance of countries
MONKEY POX (M-Pox/MPXV): Epidemiology, transmission, clinical findings, treatment and herbal treatment
There is a serious increase in the number of viral diseases today. Monkeypox virus (M-Pox/MPXV) is defined as a viral infection caused by a virus called Orthopoxvirus in the Poxviridae family. It is frequently found in the tropical rainforests of West and Central Africa. However, it has spread to other countries over time. In this study, the Monkeypox virus, which has recently caused a significant number of deaths, was examined in detail. Based on the literature data, the health problems, symptoms, and treatment approaches caused by the disease were discussed. In addition, natural products that can be effective using traditional treatment methods were compiled. As a result, this study can be a source of treatment approaches for the Monkeypox virus
The integrated influence of energy security risk and green innovation on the material footprint: An EKC analysis based on fossil material flows
The OECD community consumes excessive amounts of raw materials and materials, which leads to pollution and increases the material footprint. The material footprint is directly linked to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)-8 and 12. The main reason for the material footprint is the usage of fossil fuels, and the dependence of OECD countries on fossil fuels continues to this day. By expanding renewable energy utilization due to rising energy security risk, a community can take steps to improve ecological quality and reduce its material footprint. In this context, the paper focuses to examine the impact of energy security, green innovation, economic policy stringency and income on the fossil fuel material footprint for 24 OECD countries over the period 1995-2018. To this end, the paper uses the Augmented Mean Group (AMG) method and novel Half Panel Jackknife (HPJ) causality and estimation approach. The study adds value to existing knowledge by empirically testing the determinants of fossil fuel material footprint for OECD countries for the first time using the novel HPJ approach. The results of the AMG show that increasing energy security risk index reduces the material footprint, while green innovation and economic policy stringency have no impact on environmental degradation. The environmental Kuznets curve (EKC) in the form of an inverted U and an inverted N are valid for OECD countries. The HPJ approach also illustrates that there is a causality from green innovation and energy security risk to material footprint, and innovation and risk are support footprint reduction. Based on these results, the study recommends that OECD policymakers pay attention to ensuring energy security to reduce the material footprint by expanding renewable resources and allocate more economic resources to green innovations with higher returns, considering the validity of the EKC
Biodegradable plastic formulated from chitosan of Aristeus antennatus shells with castor oil as a plasticizer agent and starch as a filling substrate
Biodegradable plastics are those subjected easily to a degradation process, in which they can be decomposed after disposal in the environment through microbial activity. 30 bioplastic film formulations based only on chitosan film were used in the current investigation as a positive control together with chitosan film recovered from chitin-waste of locally obtained Aristeus antennatus. Additionally, castor oil was used as a plasticizer. While the yield of chitosan was 18% with 7.65% moisture content and 32.27% ash in the shells, the isolated chitin had a degree of deacetylation (DD) of 86%. The synthesized bioplastic films were characterized via numerous criteria. Firstly, the swelling capacity of these biofilms recorded relatively high percentages compared to polypropylene as synthetic plastic. Noticeably, the FTIR profiles, besides DSC, TGA, and XRD, confirmed the acceptable characteristics of these biofilms. In addition, their SEM illustrated the homogeneity and continuity with a few straps of the chitosan film and showed the homogeneous mixes of chitosan and castor oil with 5 and 20%. Moreover, data detected the antibacterial activity of different bioplastic formulas against some common bacterial pathogens (Enterococcus feacalis, Kelbsiella pnumina, Bacillus subtilis, and Pseudomonas aeruginosa). Amazingly, our bioplastic films have conducted potent antimicrobial activities. So, they may be promising in such a direction. Further, the biodegradability efficacy of bioplastic films formed was proved in numerous environments for several weeks of incubation. However, all bioplastic films decreased in their weights and changed in their colors, while polypropylene, was very constant all the time. Double differential cross section calculations of (n,p) reactions on 27Al and 24Mg targets

Therefore, in this study, the double differential proton emission cross sections of 27Al and 24Mg target nuclei were calculated theoretically with the TALYS nuclear reaction code at 14 MeV neutron energy. The calculated values were compared with existing experimental data in the EXFOR library. Additionally, the contribution of direct, compound and preequilibrium reactions in theoretical calculations was investigated. © The Authors
Riskli Olan ve Olmayan Gebelerin İnternet Yoluyla Karar Alma Durumlarının Belirlenmesi
Objective: This study was conducted to evaluate the Internet decision‐making status of risky and non-risky pregnant women. Method: The research employed an analytical and case‐control design. The sample of the study consisted of 214 pregnant women, including 107 in the risky group and 107 in the non‐risky group, who applied to the Obstetrics and Gynecology Outpatient Clinic. In the study, the data were collected using The Introductory Information Form and The Internet Decision‐Making Scale in Pregnancy (IDMSP) through face‐to‐face interviews. In the evaluation of the data, Chi‐square test, Independent Samples t‐ Test and Mann Whitney U test were used in addition to descriptive statistics. Results: The mean age of the pregnant women participating in the study was 28.08±6.37 years. It was determined that 56.1% of the pregnant women who participated in the study met their need for information on the Internet, 46.7% checked the blog pages of the doctors while searching on the Internet to receive information about pregnancy, and 49.1% mostly used the Internet for searching about the prenatal development and health of the baby. The overall mean score of the pregnant women at risk obtained from the IDMSP was significantly higher compared to those in the non‐risky group (p=.002). Conclusion: The Internet decision‐making status of risky pregnant women has been found to be higher compared to non‐risky pregnant women. Accordingly, midwives and nurses should inform pregnant women that information on the Internet is not always safe, and it is important to consult healthcare professionals when making a decision regarding pregnancy. © 2024, Ataturk Universitesi. Does Climate Change Cause an Upsurge in Food Prices?
Climate change is the reason behind most contemporary economic problems. The rising inflationary pressures in the food sector are one of these problems, and stable food prices are a necessity for economic development and social cohesion in societies. Therefore, this study analyzes the relationship between food prices and climate change in Nigeria by using various non-linear and quantile-based methods and data from 2008m5 to 2020m12. The empirical findings indicate that (i) there is a time- and frequency-based dependence between food prices and some explanatory variables, including climate change (i.e., temperature). (ii) At higher quantiles, temperature, oil prices, food exports, monetary expansion, global food prices, agricultural prices, and fertilizer prices stimulate food prices. (iii) The increase in food prices due to the rise in temperature and the difficulties in agriculture indicate that the heatflation phenomenon is present in Nigeria. The evidence outlines that Nigerian decisionmakers should adopt a national food security policy that considers environmental, agricultural, and monetary factors to stabilize food prices

In the first section of the thesis, previous studies are given, and in the second section, basic definitions and theorems about algebra, coding theory and DNA are given. In the third section, the structure of cyclic codes defined on the finite ring called Z4 + uZ4 + vZ4, the cyclic codes on this structure, theorems and results regarding the construction of DNA codes and DNA images of cyclic DNA codes have been compiled. In the fourth section, u 2 = u, v 2 = v and uv = vu being Z4 +uZ4 +vZ4 +uvZ4 theorems and results about the structure of cyclic codes defined on a finite ring, the construction of cyclic DNA codes on this structure and the DNA images of cyclic DNA codes are proved. In the last section, it is given some recommendations for future exploration
Designing and implementing a training program on surgical hand scrubbing, wearing surgical cap and surgical mask, gowning, and gloving using HMD-based virtual reality technologies for nursing students: an exploration of student perceptions
Objective The aim of this study is to determine the steps of a training program utilizing Head-Mounted Display (HMD) based Virtual Reality Technology to enhance nursing students' skills in surgical hand scrubbing, wearing surgical cap and surgical mask, gowning and gloving, and to evaluate students' perceptions toward the program. Methods The study aimed to investigate the potential applications of HMD-Based Virtual Reality Technology in Surgical Hand Scrubbing, Wearing Surgical Cap and Surgical Mask, Gowning and Gloving Program for nursing students, as well as students' perceptions toward this technology. The research was conducted with a focus group consisting of second-year nursing students in Osmaniye/Turkey, between January and June 2022, and the training program was implemented in five stages: Analysis, Design, Development, Implementation, and Evaluation. The program was evaluated with a focus group of nursing students. Focus group discussions were conducted to provide insights into students' experiences, feedback, and perceptions of the program. Results A vast majority of participants (92.5%) reported feeling fully immersed in the operating room environment during the virtual reality (VR) experience. Notably, all students acknowledged the potential of HMD-Based Virtual Reality Technology to enrich their understanding of surgical hand scrubbing, wearing surgical cap and surgical mask, gowning and gloving procedures, surpassing conventional instructional models. While many participants found the experience exhilarating (85.1%), a considerable portion reported a decline in engagement after repeated exposures (88.8%). Overall, participants welcomed the integration of VR technology into education, expressing optimism about its capacity to facilitate additional instructional modules (74.4%). Moreover, they conveyed satisfaction with the opportunity to engage with the VR application, emphasizing its significant educational value (81.4%). Conclusion Based on these findings, we can suggest that virtual reality technology has the potential to have an impact on nursing students' education. The majority of students expressing a sense of presence in the operating room highlights the value of this method in education. However, the reported boredom after repeated experiences by most participants underscores the importance of diversifying the program and introducing innovative approaches to keep students engaged
