Provincial-level analysis of land use changes following the 2023 Kahramanmaraş earthquakes using sentinel-2 land use/land cover time series data
Natural disasters significantly impact human settlements and land use. The February 6, 2023, Kahramanmaraş earthquakes caused extensive changes in land use and land cover (LULC) across 11 provinces in Turkey. This study analyzes these changes using Sentinel-2 LULC time series data from 2022 to 2023. The study area includes Adana, Adıyaman, Diyarbakır, Gaziantep, Hatay, Kahramanmaraş, Kilis, Malatya, Osmaniye, Şanlıurfa, and Elazığ. LULC classifications—agriculture, settlement, bare ground, trees, and water—were analyzed using ArcGIS to assess annual change rates. Results indicate that settlements expanded, especially in Hatay, Gaziantep, and Osmaniye (3-4%), due to post-earthquake reconstruction. Agricultural land increased in Şanlıurfa and Kilis but declined in Elazığ and Adıyaman. Bare ground areas decreased, suggesting erosion control and afforestation efforts. Small increases in water bodies were observed, indicating potential environmental benefits. These findings highlight the importance of sustainable land management and post-disaster planning to mitigate future risks
Effect of Atmospheric Plasma Treatment on Mechanical Properties of 3D-Printed Continuous Aramid Fiber/PLA Composites
In this study, an aluminum heating block with two inlets (for the Polylactic acid (PLA) filament and the continuous aramid fiber) was produced and placed onto an extruder, and continuous-aramid-fiber-reinforced PLA composites were fabricated by using the nozzle impregnation method. Layer height values of 0.4 mm, 0.6 mm, and 0.8 mm and hatch spacing values of 0.6 mm, 0.8 mm, and 1.0 mm were used for the investigation of the processing parameters on the properties of composites by differentiating the reinforcement volume fraction. Additionally, atmospheric plasma treatment was used for the surface modification of the reinforcement fiber. The properties of composites reinforced by using surface-modified fibers were also investigated in order to reveal the efficacy of the atmospheric plasma treatment on the properties of composites. The effect of the atmospheric plasma treatment on the fiber properties was investigated by using scanning electron microscopy (SEM), Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS). Continuous-aramid-fiber-reinforced PLA composites were characterized mechanically by fiber pull-out, tensile, and flexural testing. The fracture surfaces of composites were analyzed by using SEM. The combination of a reduced layer height and a narrower hatch spacing yielded the best mechanical performance, with a tensile strength of 410.25 MPa achieved at a 0.6 mm layer height and a 0.4 mm hatch spacing. This combination minimizes void formation, enhances fiber alignment, and strengthens interlayer adhesion, leading to superior mechanical properties. The FTIR and XPS results showed that atmospheric plasma modification can enhance the interfacial bonding strength by improving the surface morphology and increasing the content of polar groups on the fiber surface. By combining optimized manufacturing conditions with the atmospheric plasma treatment, the mechanical performance of continuous-aramid-fiber-reinforced PLA composites was enhanced
The Relationship Between Employment Guilt and Psychological Resilience Levels of Working Mothers
Psychological resilience is a significant factor affecting feelings of guilt, as it helps mothers maintain a better balance between work and family responsibilities. This study was conducted to identify the relationship between employment guilt and the psychological resilience levels of working mothers. The research involved 483 working mothers residing in Osmaniye province, Turkey, who were employed in various fields. In this cross-sectional correlational study, data were collected online via Google Forms using the Personal Information Form, the Maternal Employment Guilt Scale, and the Brief Resilience Scale. The results of this study suggest that as the psychological resilience levels of working mothers increased, their employment guilt levels decreased. The results from this research can be used to identify potential interventions that could mitigate the negative effects of employment guilt on psychological resilience
Examination of effect of inclination angle on RT35 HC thermal energy storage performance with honeycomb fins of different cell sizes
The integration of PCM beneath PV panels is a distinctive engineering application for thermal control and energy efficiency. Optimal and steady energy generation is attained from diurnal temperature variations by the utilization of various tilt angles. This study examined the impact of tilt angles (20 degrees, 35 degrees, and 50 degrees) and honeycomb fin diameter on the energy storage and kinetics of RT35 HC paraffin within an experimental setup applicable to photovoltaic panel heat absorption. The latitude and longitude of Osmaniye province were analyzed, and the thermal characteristics of RT35 HC paraffin were extensively investigated. The experimental apparatus was constructed with dimensions of 100 x 120 x 10 mm3 for paraffin storage, incorporating honeycomb aluminum fins with cell diameters of 3.2, 5.2, 6.8, 8.7, 10.4, and 14.17 mm, both with and without fins. The tests were monitored using thermal and digital cameras at five-minute intervals. Photographs of all samples, both with and without honeycomb fins, were analyzed during the melting processes (area) using image processing techniques in MATLAB software version R2021a, with evaluations conducted every 5 min on the acquired photos. It was observed that when the tilt of the experimental apparatus increased for both with and without fin samples, the liquid phase areas within the enclosure and the energy storage capacity gradually decreased. Conducting the experiment at a 20 degrees angle in an experimental apparatus devoid of fins yields 17.2 % more energy storage compared to executing the identical experiment at a 50 degrees angle.OKUEBAP [OKUEBAP-2022-PT2-010]The authors would like to acknowledge OKUEBAP for the financial support of this study (project no: OKUEBAP-2022-PT2-010)

An application of activity-based budgeting at the company in the renewable energy sector
Bu araştırma, faaliyet tabanlı bütçeleme (FTB) yönteminin fotovoltaik güneş paneli üretim süreçlerine uygulanabilirliğini incelemektedir. Yenilenebilir enerji sektörü, özellikle güneş paneli üretimi, teknolojik gelişmeler ve artan çevre bilinciyle birlikte hızla büyümektedir. Bu sektör, yüksek teknoloji gereksinimleri ve maliyetlerin hassas yönetimiyle dikkat çekmektedir. Bu bağlamda, FTB yöntemi, maliyetlerin faaliyetlerle ilişkilendirilmesini sağlayarak, işletmelerin maliyet yönetiminde daha stratejik bir yaklaşım geliştirmesine olanak tanımaktadır. Araştırmanın amacı, FTB'nin güneş paneli üretim süreçlerine uyarlanarak maliyetlerin daha etkin yönetilmesini sağlamak ve bu yöntemle elde edilen faydaları ortaya koymaktır. Araştırma metodolojisi olarak, literatür taraması ve vaka analizleri kullanılmıştır. İlk olarak, faaliyet tabanlı bütçeleme yönteminin teorik temelleri detaylandırılmış ve literatürdeki gelişmeler incelenmiştir. Ardından, güneş paneli üretim süreçleri analiz edilerek bu süreçlerde FTB'nin nasıl uygulanabileceği değerlendirilmiştir. Uygulama aşamasında, bir fotovoltaik panel üretim işletmesinde FTB modeli uygulanmış ve bu uygulamanın sonuçları analiz edilmiştir. Sonuç olarak, faaliyet tabanlı bütçeleme yöntemi, güneş paneli üretim işletmeleri için sadece maliyetlerin doğru yönetimini sağlamakla kalmamakta, aynı zamanda işletmenin stratejik hedeflerine ulaşmasında da kritik bir rol oynamaktadır. Yapay zekâ ve dijital teknolojilerin entegre edilmesiyle de FTB, işletmelerin verimliliğini artırarak sürdürülebilir büyüme ve daha fazla rekabet avantajı sağlayacaktır. Bu çalışmanın, FTB'nin güneş paneli üretim sektöründeki uygulamalarını genişleterek, sektör için önemli bir referans noktası oluşturması beklenmektedir.This research examines the applicability of activity-based budgeting (ABB) method to photovoltaic solar panel manufacturing processes. The renewable energy sector, especially solar panel manufacturing, is rapidly growing with technological developments and increasing environmental awareness. This sector draws attention with its high technology requirements and sensitive management of costs. ABB facilitates the association of costs with activities, enabling better management of this complexity and allowing for strategic cost control. The purpose of the research is to adapt ABB to solar panel production processes to achieve more effective cost management. To this end, a literature review and case analysis methods were used. The theoretical foundations of ABB were detailed in the literature, and developments related to this method were discussed. Subsequently, solar panel production processes were analyzed to evaluate how ABB could be applied to these processes. During the implementation phase of the research, an ABB model was applied in a photovoltaic panel production enterprise, and the results of this model were analyzed. The findings demonstrate that ABB not only ensures the accurate management of costs but also plays a critical role in helping the enterprise achieve its strategic goals. Especially with the integration of artificial intelligence and digital technologies, ABB contributes to increasing business efficiency, sustainable growth, and gaining a competitive advantage. This study aims to provide a valuable reference point in the field by highlighting the benefits of ABB in solar panel production processes. These findings will help solar panel manufacturing businesses optimize their cost management strategies and enhance their competitive power in the industry
Exploring central bank independence: inferences from country clusters
This study explores the complex and multifaceted nature of central bank independence (CBI) at the country level, highlighting both similarities and differences. The investigation centers on the k-prototypes clustering algorithm, which effectively captures the complexities of CBI by incorporating both numerical and categorical data related to financial stability and governance dynamics. The clustering results offer valuable insights into how countries compare in terms of the trade-offs imposed by central bank policies and their economic and governance outcomes. The comparative analysis of country clusters, as well as the countries within each cluster, provides essential information for identifying leading examples of CBI

XVI. yüzyılda Osmanlı Devleti'nde siyasi ve kültürel olayların neticesi olarak birçok tarihi metin yazılmıştır. Bu metinlerden biri olan Târîh-î Üngürüs dönemin tercümanlarından Tercümân Mahmûd tarafından kaleme alınmıştır. Yazarın, dönem dilini etkili bir şekilde metinde yansıtması bu çalışmayı tarihî olduğu kadar dilbilimsel açıdan da değerli kılmaktadır. Bu bağlamda verdiği tarihî bilgilerin yanı sıra dil hususiyetleri açısından da dikkat çekicidir. Bu çalışma, Târîh-î Üngürüs'ün 106b-210a varaklarının çeviri yazısı ve Türkiye Türkçesine aktarımı yapılmıştır. Metnin çeviri yazısında dönemin dil ve üslup özelliklerine bağlı kalınmış ve anlam bütünlüğü içerisinde aktarım yapılmıştır, eserde bulunan dil açısından dikkate değer unsurlar notlar kısmında ele alınmıştır. Çalışmanın amacı, Târîh-î Üngürüs bilimsel ölçütlere uygun bir şekilde Türkiye Türkçesine kazandırılarak daha geniş bir okuyucu kitlesine ulaşmasına vesile olmak, Osmanlı Türkçesiyle yazılmış, incelenmiş ve incelenecek olan metinlere katkı sağlamaktır. Bu doğrulta araştırma sadece tarihî bir metin aktarımıyla kalmayıp aynı zamanda dilbilimsel yönleriyle çok yönlü bir değerlendirme sunmaktadır. Çalışma dört ana bölümden oluşmaktadır: Birinci bölümde araştırmanın amacı, yöntemi ve kapması açıklanmış; Târîh-î Üngürüs ve müellifi Tercümân Mahmûd hakkında bilgiler verilmiş ve eser üzerinde yapılan çalışmalardan bahsedilmiştir. İkinci bölümde, metnin çeviri yazısı ve Türkiye Türkçesine aktarımı yapılmıştır. Üçüncü bölümde, metin içerisinde dikkat çekici dil hususiyetlerinden oluşmuş "Notlar" bölümü yer almaktadır. Dördüncü bölümde ise eser hakkında tespit edilen bulgular "Sonuç" kısmında değerlendirilmiştir. Çalışmada yararlanılan kaynaklar "Kaynakça" bölümünde listelenmiş; ayrıca eserin tıpkıbasımı da çalışmaya eklenmiştir. One of these texts, Târîh-î Üngürüs, was written by Translator Mahmud who one of the translators of the period. The fact that the author effectively reflects the language of the period in the text has ensured that this work contains important informations in terms of language as well as history. In addition to the historical informations it gives in this context, it is also remarkable in terms of language features. This study were translated into Turkish by basing on the 106b-210a leaf of Târîh- Üngürüs. During the transcription phase of the text, the language and stylistic characteristics of the period were adhered to and transfered with attention to content integrity. In addition, the noteworthy elements in terms of language partaking in the work are discussed in the notes section. The aim of the study is to bring the Târîh-î Üngürüs text into Turkish in accordance with scientific criteria and to get access a wider audience. In addition, it is to contribute to the texts that have been studied and will be studied written in Ottoman Turkish. In this direction, the research not only provides a historical text transfer, but also offers a multi-faceted evaluation with its linguistic aspects. The study consists of four main parts. In the first part, the purpose, method and scope of the research are explained. In addition, information about the Târîh-î Üngürüs text is given and the studies conducted on the work are mentioned. In addition to the author Translator Mahmud, information is also given about the, from whom we took the source in writing the thesis. In the second part, the translation of the text and its translation into Turkish is given. In the third part, a notes section consisting of remarkable language features in the text is given. In the fourth part, the findings about the work were evaluated in the "Conclusion" section. Remote Sensing-Based Deep Learning Approach for Identifying Burned Forest Areas
Bu çalışmada, 5-10 Eylül 2020 tarihleri arasında Hatay'ın Samandağ bölgesinde meydana gelen orman yangınlarının yanık alanları ve şiddeti haritalandırılmıştır. Derin öğrenme, uzaktan algılama ve Sentinel 2 uydu verileri kullanılarak analizler yapılmıştır. Araştırma bölgelerine ait Sentinel 2 uydu fotoğrafları ile derin öğrenme için bir görüntü veri seti oluşturulmuştur. Ardından, derin öğrenme yaklaşımları kullanılarak bir model geliştirilmiş, bu model veri setindeki fotoğraflarla eğitilmiş ve başarıyla test edilmiştir. Sentinel 2'den elde edilen görüntüler, yeni derin öğrenme modelinin sonuçları kullanılarak Normalleştirilmiş Yanma Yoğunluğu (NBR) ve Yanık Alan İndeksi (BAIS2) değerleri hesaplanmıştır. Yangın öncesi ve sonrası bu indeksler arasındaki farklılıkların hesaplanmasıyla Farklı Normalleştirilmiş Yanma Yoğunluğu (dNBR) ve Farklı Yanık Alan İndeksi (dBAIS2) değerleri elde edilerek yangın alanı kategorize edilmiş ve belirlenmiştir. Derin öğrenme yaklaşımı, yanık alan indeksleri ve Orman Genel Müdürlüğü yangın kayıt fişleri karşılaştırılmış ve yeni derin öğrenme modelinin yanmış orman alanlarını belirlemede indekslere göre daha etkili olduğu tespit edilmiştir. Samandağ çalışma bölgesinde, yanık orman alanlarının belirlenmesinde yeni modelin doğruluk oranı %98,36 olarak hesaplanmıştır.In this study, the burnt areas and intensity of forest fires that occurred in the Samandağ region of Hatay between September 5-10, 2020, are mapped. Analyses were carried out using deep learning, remote sensing, and satellite data from Sentinel 2. With Sentinel 2 satellite photos of the research locations, an image dataset for deep learning was constructed. Then, using deep learning approaches, a deep learning model was developed, trained using the photos in the dataset, and successfully tested. Images from Sentinel 2 were used to produce the Normalized Burn Ratio(NBR) and Burnt Area Index for Sentinel 2 (BAIS2) indices using the results of a new deep learning model. Calculating the Difference Normalized Burning Intensity (dNBR) and Burnt Area Index for Difference Sentinel-2 (dBAIS2) values for the discrepancies between these indices before and after the fire allowed for categorization and determination of the fire area. The deep learning approach burnt area indexes, and General Directorate of Forestry (GDF) fire registration slips were compared, and it was established that the new deep learning model was more effective at locating burned forest areas than the indexes. In identifying the burnt forest areas, the new model has a proportionate accuracy of 98.36% in the Samandağ study region
