Developing new solar radiation estimation models with machine learning techniques and testing their efficiency in various places
Renewable energy sources have garnered significant global attention in terms of cost-effectiveness, efficiency and minimal environmental impact. Among these, solar energy has emerged as one of the most critical and widely applied renewable energy sources. As the utilization of solar energy sources ascends, modeling the solar radiation (SR) which is costly and challenging to measure has become an essential area of research. The main aim of this study is to determine the Angstrom coefficients for SR estimation using machine learning (ML) techniques. The linear regression and support vector machine (SVM) regression approaches were implemented in the MATLAB program to determine the Angstrom coefficients. In order to analyze the regional variations in the performance of this novel approach, four separate regions were determined. Furthermore, four distinct statistical tests were employed to assess the performance of the developed models. According to these test results, it has been concluded that the developed models with the SVM approach in SR estimation have superior performance overall, effectively capturing the relationship between the estimated and observed SR values across all regions. Upon the comprehensive evaluation of the results, it was concluded that method SVM regression has superior performance Region 1 and Region 4, while linear regression performed better in Region 2 and Region 3
Direct and indirect pathways to kindergartners' school adjustment: roles of children's parent and friendship representations
In this study, we investigated the direct and indirect associations between children's attachment representations of parents and their representations of friendships with their reported feelings about school (school liking and avoidance). A story completion task was administered to 91 preschool children to assess attachment security with their parents. Approximately three months later, the children completed a story completion task about friendships and provided information about their feelings toward school. Children's attachment representations with their parents were positively associated with school liking and negatively associated with school avoidance. Similarly, attachment security with parents was associated with children's positive friendship representations. The indirect effects of children's positive friendship representations on the associations between attachment security with parents and school liking and avoidance were significant. These results revealed the potential importance of children's representations of close relationships for the development and maintenance of their adjustment to school
Assessing the Effect of Artificial Intelligence Anxiety on Turnover Intention: The Mediating Role of Quiet Quitting in Turkish Small and Medium Enterprises
The concept of artificial intelligence (AI) refers to technologies that imitate human-like thinking, learning and decision-making abilities. While integrating AI into the workforce offers the potential to increase efficiency in organizational activities, it can lead to negative effects such as anxiety, uncertainty, and distrust among employees which results from not being able to understand these technologies, regarding them as alternatives for themselves, and the possibility of losing their organizational position. These effects can reduce employees' commitment at work and trigger negative organizational behaviors such as quiet quitting and turnover intention. Starting from this point, the present study aims to investigate the effect of AI anxiety on turnover intention and the mediating role of quiet quitting in this relationship. The study was conducted using a cross-sectional design with 457 people working in SMEs in K & imath;r & imath;kkale province. AI Anxiety, Quiet Quitting, and Turnover Intention Scales were utilized during the data collection process. The obtained data were analyzed through structural equation modeling. In addition to detecting significant relationships between concepts as a result of the analysis, it was realized that AI anxiety did not have a considerable effect directly on turnover intention; however, this effect occurred indirectly through quiet quitting. Accordingly, it is predicted that integrating AI technologies into business processes will increase the concerns about job security in employees, and this anxiety triggers the turnover intention by leading to a tendency toward quiet quitting for reasons such as loss of motivation and low organizational commitment
Antibacterial and photocatalytic performances of bioactive In-doped ZnO nanoparticles
In-doped ZnO (IZO) ceramics with hexagonal wurtzite structures were synthesized. Herein, the relationship between the microstructure, morphology, electrochemical state, vibration modes, and optical properties of IZO was comprehensively investigated using various characterization techniques. Also, the antibacterial and photocatalytic activities of the nanomaterials have been examined, and the correlation between these has been revealed. The analyses showed that In atoms were successfully doped into the lattice of ZnO. UV-Vis spectroscopy measurement pointed out that the bandgaps of the IZO were slightly less than the optical bandgap of undoped ZnO. Examination of the structural properties by XRD and Raman spectroscopy led to the conclusion that all samples except the 5% IZO have a pure wurtzite phase. It was deduced from photocatalytic and antibacterial activity results that 1% IZO had the highest photocatalytic and antibacterial activity. Savaş zamanlarında orduların muhabere hizmetleri, savaşın gidişatını doğrudan etkileyen faktörlerden birisidir. Savaşın başladığı andan itibaren muhabereyi sağlamak çoğu zaman zaferin anahtarını elinde tutar. Düşmanlarınızın nerede olduğunu bilerek müttefiklerinizle iletişim kurmak şüphesiz savaşın en önemli kısımlarından biridir. Muhabere hizmetleri yalnızca cephe hattındaki birliklerin sevk ve idaresi ile sınırlı değildir. Cephe ile cephe gerisi arasında iletişim ve koordinasyonun sağlanması, ikmal hizmetlerinin düzenli işleyişi, askerlerin aileleri ile olan irtibatının kurularak ordunun moral ve motivasyonun yükseltilmesi gibi hizmetler de muhabere hizmetlerinin faaliyet alanı içinde yer alır. Dolayısıyla muhabere hizmetleri, savaşın kaderini doğrudan etkileyen çok yönlü bir faaliyet alanıdır. Bu çalışma, Çanakkale Muharebeleri esnasında Türk ordusunun muhabere hizmetlerini konu edinmiştir. Bu bağlamda askeri posta, telgraf ve telefon hizmetleri incelenmiştir. Bununla birlikte özellikle ordu harekât bölgesinde bulunan askeri birliklerin kendi aralarındaki hususî haberleşme araçlarından olan helyosta, ara posta erleri, ışıldak, flama ve aydınlatma fişekleri gibi savaş esnasında başvurulan hususi haberleşme yol ve yöntemleri ele alınmıştır. Ayrıca muhabere hizmetleri yürütülürken karşılaşılan zorluklar ve bunların nedenleri üzerinde durulmuştur
Atık Kot ile Güçlendirilmiş Zeminin CBR Değerinin Laboratuvarda İncelenmesi
The utilization of waste materials for the reinforcement of soils should be investigated in order to prevent pollution and encourage sustainable solutions and a circular economy. The aim of this study is to investigate the effect of waste denim on soil reinforcement. For this purpose, California Bearing Ratio (CBR) experiments were performed by adding the waste denim as a whole and in pieces on sand soil. The results of the tests were assessed with regard to CBR values and load-displacement behavior by comparing them with unreinforced test specimens. In terms of load-bearing capacity and CBR value, the reinforcement of the soil with waste denim improved the performance compared to the unreinforced condition. Reinforcement of the soil with waste denim increased the load-bearing capacity by a maximum of 9.8 times and the CBR value by a maximum of 4.2 times. The results are promising about the usability of waste denim for soil reinforcement.Kirliliği önlemek, sürdürülebilir çözümleri ve döngüsel ekonomiyi teşvik etmek için atık malzemelerin zeminlerin güçlendirilmesinde kullanımı araştırılmalıdır. Bu çalışmanın amacı, atık kotun zemin güçlendirmesi üzerindeki etkisini araştırmaktır. Bu amaçla, atık kot bir bütün olarak ve parçalar halinde kum zemine eklenerek Kaliforniya Taşıma Oranı (CBR) deneyleri gerçekleştirilmiştir. Deney sonuçları CBR değerleri ve yük-deformasyon davranışı açısından güçlendirilmemiş örnekler ile karşılaştırılarak değerlendirilmiştir. Yük taşıma kapasitesi ve CBR değeri açısından, zeminin atık kot ile güçlendirilmesi, güçlendirilmemiş duruma kıyasla performansı artırmıştır. Zeminin atık kot ile güçlendirilmesi, yük taşıma kapasitesini en fazla 9,8 kat, CBR değerini ise en fazla 4,2 kat artırmıştır. Sonuçlar, atık kotun zemin güçlendirmesi için kullanılabilirliği konusunda umut vericidir
Effect of Pulse Current Density Variation on Cu-Zn Alloys Electrodeposited in Pyrophosphate-Based Baths
In this study, a steel substrate was coated with Cu-Zn alloy using the electrodeposition method. A pyrophosphate-based electrolyte was preferred and the properties of Cu-Zn coatings deposited at different pulse current (PC) density values were investigated. From the results, it was revealed that the coating properties were significantly affected below and above the PC density value of 20 mA/cm2, and it can be stated that this value is a critical for the properties of Cu-Zn alloy coatings. From the X-ray diffraction results, it was found that only the alpha phase was present in the structure up to 20 mA/cm2 PC density value, while the alpha and beta ' phases were found to coexist at higher current density values. As the PC density increased, the Zn content of the Cu-Zn coatings increased from 7% to 56%, while the surface morphology showed a coarser grain structure with relatively lateral voids. While the corrosion current slightly increased with rising Zn content due to higher PC density, it eventually decreased at higher current densities, likely due to Zn-induced passive film formation
The Importance of Exercise and Sports in Individuals with Spinal Cord Injury
Spinal kord yaralanmaları, motor ve duyu kayıplarına neden olan, engelliliğe yol açan yaralanmalardır. Spinal kord yaralanması olan bireylerde, yaralanmalara bağlı olarak çeşitli komplikasyonlar oluşmaktadır. Spinal kord yaralanması olan bireyler egzersiz ve sportif faaliyetlere katılmak için bazı zorluklarla karşılaşmaktadırlar. Bu bireyler fiziksel olarak çok aktif olamamaktadırlar. Fiziksel hareketsizlik bazı kronik hastalıklara zemin oluşturmakta ve dolayısıyla bu bireylerin yaşam kalitesi düşmektedir. Egzersizler ve sportif faaliyetler, spinal kord yaralanması olan bireyler için bazı komplikasyonları önlemek, kronik hastalıklarla mücadele etmek ve yaşam kalitesini artırmak için gereklidir. Bu çalışmanın amacı spinal kord yaralanmaları, spinal kord yaralanması olan bireyler için egzersiz ve spor, spinal kord yaralanmalı bireylerde görülen kronik hastalıklarda egzersiz ve sporun rolleri hakkında bilgi vermektir. Bu çalışma, spinal kord yaralanması yaşayan insanların egzersiz ve spor yapmalarının artması kapsamında katkı sunabilir.Spinal cord injuries are injuries that cause motor and sensory losses and lead to disability. In individuals with spinal cord injuries, various complications occur due to the injuries. Individuals with spinal cord injuries face some difficulties in participating in exercise and sports activities. These individuals cannot be very physically active. Physical inactivity causes some chronic diseases and therefore the quality of life of these individuals decreases. Exercises and sports activities are necessary to prevent some complications, combat chronic diseases and improve the quality of life for individuals with spinal cord injuries. The aim of the present study is to provide information about spinal cord injuries, exercise and sports for individuals with spinal cord injuries, and the roles of exercise and sports in chronic diseases seen in individuals with spinal cord injuries. The present study may contribute to increasing the exercise and sports activities of people with spinal cord injuries
The effect of cognitive behavior approach-based psycoeducation on cognitive emotion regulation strategies and levels of negative emotional symptoms of emerging adults with earthquake experience: randomized controlled trial
This research was conducted as a randomized controlled experimental study to determine the effect of cognitive behavioral approach-based psychoeducation on the cognitive emotion regulation strategies and negative emotional symptom levels of emerging adults who experienced an earthquake. The sample of the study consisted of 61 emerging adults between the ages of 18-29 who experienced an earthquake. The data of the research were collected between 23 October and 20 December 2023 with the Personal Information Form, Cognitive Emotion Regulation Scale and Depression, Anxiety, Stress Scale. Psychoeducation Program was implemented as group training 2 days a week and a total of 9 sessions. It was determined that the psychoeducation program had a moderate and high level of significant effect on cognitive emotion regulation strategies and negative emotional symptom levels (p 0.05). The findings showed that the structured cognitive behavioral approach-based brief psychoeducation program is a feasible disaster mental health intervention program for emerging adults who do not have a psychiatric diagnosis but have experienced trauma. It is recommended that future research determine how long the benefits of the program last and its effectiveness in individuals with mixed traumatic experiences.Osmaniye Korkut Ata UniversityWe thank the participants who participated in the study

Tercümesini yapmış olduğumuz 'The British ''İntervention'' İn Transcaspia 1918-1919'' C.H. ELLİS tarafından yazılan bu eser birinci dünya savaşından sonra (1918-1919) İngilizlerin Türkistan'a müdahalesi hakkında geniş çaplı bilgiler sunmaktadır. Bu eser Bolşevik devriminden sonra Türkistan bölgesinde meydana gelen otorite boşluğunu ve bu boşluktan istifade eden İngilizlerin bölgedeki tutumu hakkında hem bölgenin coğrafi yapısı hem İngilizler ile Rusların bölgedeki rolleri açısından zengin bilgiler ihtiva etmektedir. Tarihsel bağlamda da incelediğimizde bu eser bizzat Albay Ellisin katıldığı operasyonlar ve bölgede yaşadığı olaylar ile ayrıntılı ve yetkili bir eserdir. Ellis and translated in this thesis, provides extensive information about the British intervention in Turkestan following the First World War (1918–1919). The book contains rich details regarding the power vacuum that emerged in the Turkestan region after the Bolshevik Revolution and how the British sought to take advantage of this situation. It presents valuable insights into both the geographical structure of the region and the respective roles of the British and Russians in Central Asia. From a historical perspective, the work is authoritative and detailed, as it is based on Colonel Ellis's personal experiences and direct participation in the operations that took place in the region. The events that occurred in Turkestan during the complex years of 1918–1919 are expected to become clearer through this translation and evaluation. The book provides extensive information ranging from the weakening of Russian control over Turkestan following the Bolshevik Revolution to the British efforts to maintain dominance over their colonial possessions in India and control over key trade routes in the region.
