Avrupa İnsan Hakları Mahkemesi İçtihatları Işığında Çocukların İdari Gözetimi: Kişi Özgürlüğü ve Güvenliği Hakkı Bağlamında Bir İnceleme

    No full text

Precariatization of the Preschool Teachers' Workforce and Its Consequences on the Well-Being and in-School Relations

    No full text
Background: With the augmentation of flexible capitalism, episodic, short-term work has been a common workforce regime in distinct fields and sectors, including education. Increasingly teachers are forced to work short-term, leading to lower-wages and insecurity. T & uuml;rkiye, which had employed teachers permanently, changed its teacher workforce regime in 2005; introducing contract-based and short-term employing to the regime. Objective: The aim of this study was to investigate the consequences of the new workforce regime on teachers' overall well-being and relationships with their peers.Method: The present study utilized in-depth interviews with 16 preschool teachers, who had different employing status; paid, fixed-term contracted and permanent teachers, which allowed to compare these groups. A theoretical thematic analysis for data analysis was conducted, utilizing MAXQD.Results: Findings revealed that the paid and fixed-term groups experienced financial insecurity, future hopelessness, bullying and discrimination in school, all of which resulted in lowered overall well-being while paid teachers reporting higher levels and permanent teachers not reporting such issues but enjoying their jobs. Conclusion: The current Turkish teacher employment regime has resulted in a school environment that was detrimental to school relations and well-being of teachers. The results implied that permanent teachers were enjoying a relatively comfortable and safe zone, fixed-term teachers were confined to ambiguity and temporality, and precarious teachers postponed their life to an unknown and unimaginable future. Therefore, policy makers should consider immediate and far-reaching consequences of precariat while making workforce policies. The study suggested the termination of precarious work in schools effective immediately

Hydrogen Tunneling in Thiobenzamide: A Case Study on Tunneling Through High-Energy Barriers

    No full text
A few intriguing hydrogen quantum mechanical tunneling (QMT) reactions through high-energy barriers (>20 kcal mol-1) have been observed in cryogenic matrices. Building on these examples, we report here investigations into the QMT reactivity of thiobenzamide. Thiol isomers (1Tl) were generated in an argon matrix at 10 and 20 K. One thiol isomer (1Tl-aT) converts into another (1Tl-sT) via QMT S-H rotamerization. Furthermore, thiol isomer 1Tl-sT converts into the thione form (1Tn) through QMT H-shift tautomerization, with a half-life of similar to 180 h, despite a computed barrier of similar to 25 kcal mol(-1). Computed CVT/SCT rate constants at the MPWB1K/6-31+G(d,p) level closely reproduce the experimental data. Remarkably, computations extended to higher temperatures indicate that even at 300 K the H-shift tautomerization is entirely governed by QMT (>99.9%), with a predicted half-life of similar to 1 min. At 200 K, the rate constant decreases by over 2 orders of magnitude. These findings reveal an exceptional reaction model for exploring QMT-governed reactivity under solution conditions and for providing new insights into harnessing QMT in molecular design.Fundacao para a Ciencia e a Tecnologia (FCT)

Co-Doped FeNbO4: Simple Synthesis, DFT Calculations and Electrocatalytic Performance for the Hydrogen Evolution Reaction in Alkaline Medium

    No full text
Cobalt-doped iron niobate samples, Fe(1−x)CoxNbO4 (0 ≤ x ≤ 0.20), synthesized by the solid-state reaction method, were characterized using X-ray diffraction (XRD), Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS). Density functional theory (DFT) calculations was employed to assign the experimental Raman modes of FeNbO4 and for cobalt-doped iron niobate, as the Raman spectra showed no significant changes in the profile upon doping. The crystal structure was successfully refined in the monoclinic system with the P21/n space-group symmetry, containing two formula units per unit cell (Z = 2). SEM analysis revealed particles with irregular morphology, and the average crystallite size increased with cobalt doping (⟨D⟩ = 28.0 ± 1.6 μm). EDS confirmed the incorporation of cobalt into the samples. Electrochemical measurements demonstrated promising hydrogen evolution reaction (HER) activity, with an overpotential of approximately 620 mV at a current density of 10 mA/cm2 and a Tafel slope of 156 mV/dec for the Fe0.80Co0.20NbO4 composition. Additionally, a negligible loss of overpotential was observed after 10 consecutive hours of hydrogen evolution. These findings indicate that incorporating Co2+ ions into the iron niobate (FeNbO4) matrix significantly enhances the material's electrocatalytic performance. The promising results suggest that Co-doped FeNbO4, as a noble metal-free electrocatalyst, holds considerable potential for applications in sustainable hydrogen production. © 2025 Elsevier Ltd.Fundacao Cearense de Apoio ao Desenvolvimento Cientifico e Tecnologico (FUNCAP)

Prediction of Dark Cutting Carcasses in Cattle Using Machine Learning Algorithms With Stockperson Actions and Animal Behaviors at Abattoir: A Study in Türkiye

    No full text
The aim was to investigate the relationship between stockperson actions, animal behaviors at the abattoir, and the occurrence of dark cutting in cattle using various machine learning (ML) algorithms. Season, age, sex, breed, carcass bruising score, carcass weight, and various transportation-related variables were also considered as covariates and potential predictors of dark cutting. Data was collected from 648 cattle, including Holstein, Brown Swiss, and Simmental breeds. The percentage of dark cutting carcasses was 6.64 %. The synthetic minority oversampling technique (SMOTE) was used to transform unbalanced dataset into balanced one. ML was applied with four different models, defined based on the inclusion of covariates, stockperson actions, and animal behaviors as predictors. The highest accuracy value (0.97) was obtained with Boosting algorithm. In all algorithms, the highest accuracy values were achieved with models that included stockperson actions as predictors. Age, prod use and beating at slaughter corridor, and lairage type were most important features influencing dark cutting according to Boosting algorithms. In conclusion, the classification of normal and dark cutting carcasses can be achieved with a satisfactory accuracy using the Boosting and Random Forest algorithms with the model including stockperson actions, animal behaviors and various covariates. However, this study reflects local cattle handling practices in T & uuml;rkiye; further studies are needed to explore cattle handling practices in other countries

    No full text
The aim of this study is to investigate the views of parents of children with neurodevelopmental disabilities regarding their children's use of social media, and their communication and approaches (media parenting) in teaching technologies to their children. A total of 319 parents participated in the study in which descriptive and relational survey models were used. According to the findings of the study, the participants' views on their children's social media use were negative regardless of all variables. On the other hand, the participants' media parenting levels were found to be high. No significant relationship was found between the participants' media parenting level and their views on social media use. The results showed that parents did not see social media as beneficial for their children in any circumstances, that they were very concerned about the use of social media, and that they exhibited a controlling and restrictive approach in media parenting

Digital Infographic Creation in Design Education: A Participatory Learning Algorithm Measuring Location-Based Spatial Impact

    No full text
Design education includes many pursuits that deal with creativity, thinking and visual communication techniques in the learning process. This study aims to create a participatory learning algorithm based on a location, while measuring the spatial impact through an emergent situation. The exemplified issue is determined as fire that emerged due to climate change, which has become a significant agenda of the 21st century in most countries. The scope of the study is based on the creation of an algorithm for participatory learning techniques by using social media to create digital infographics in a workshop redefining Mugla, an affected place after the fire. The workshop context is designed to reveal the interaction between humankind and its natural environment, including nature, topography, animals, aids and all actors affected after the fire, while students are involved in research practices on participatory learning, using the diary method as a pedagogical research tool. The outputs of the participatory learning algorithm examine the informative part of the produced digital infographics with ethnomethodology and the visual part with descriptive analysis as a hybrid methodology taking data materials from social media. Cumulative results that reflect the location-based spatial impact are measured with a coding system of frequencies and a time-series data of polar mapping. We propose that such a participatory learning algorithm can improve students' visual communication, design creation, visualisation, expression of ideas and organisation of knowledge skills with the discipline of working together to make multilayered spatial readings

    No full text
Many researchers have recently acquainted and researched several interesting subfamilies of bi-univalent function family delta and they have found non-sharp estimates on the first two Taylor-Maclaurin coefficients vertical bar a(2)vertical bar and vertical bar a(3)vertical bar. In this current work, the subfamily F-delta,q(sc) (alpha, Xi) of bi-univalent functions in the sense of symmetric conjugate points with quasi subordination is defined. The Maclaurin coefficients vertical bar a(2)vertical bar, vertical bar a(3)vertical bar and besides related with these coefficients vertical bar a(3) - a(2)(2)vertical bar for functions belonging to this subfamily are derived. Further some corollaries are also presented
