Bayesian repeated games and reputation
We consider two-person undiscounted and discounted infinitely repeated games in which every player privately knows his own payoffs (private values). Under a further assumption (existence of uniform punishment strategies), the Nash equilibria of the Bayesian infinitely repeated game without discounting are payoff-equivalent to tractable, completely revealing, equilibria. This characterization does not apply to discounted games with sufficiently patient players. We show that in a class of public good games, the set of Nash equilibrium payoffs of the undiscounted game can be empty, while limit (perfect Bayesian) Nash equilibrium payoffs of the discounted game, as players become increasingly patient, do exist. These equilibria share some features with the ones of two-sided reputation models.nonnonrechercheInternationa
Nudging creativity: The effect of priming on individual ideation
Creative thinking is not always a flawless process and obstacles can constrain the ability of individuals, teams and firms to formulate innovative proposals. Many methodologies have been proposed to enhance creative capabilities in organizations, yet their efficiency usually requires the investment of many resources. Building on the notion of nudge, this paper aims at exploring frugal strategies to stimulate creative ideation in the early phases of product development. We conducted an experiment to explore the potential nudging of creativity during an ideation session. We show that labelling individuals as being very creative has a performative impact on the type of ideas produced by individualsnonouirechercheInternationa
How does one speak today about one’s time of/on work in organizations in the move ? Does the wording of this time enable to give a meaning to one’s activity, according to Schütz, who considers retrospection and projection from the point of view of a chronological temporality ? We will take into account the contributions of narrative theories that emphasize this “chronological temporality” but also the ones of phenomenological theories that do it on “affective temporality”. We will analyze some extracts of research interviews in which participants to the workplace evoke their time of/on work in a very affective way with difficulties to project themselves in the future or to read their past. If it is not possible to make a list of the discursive units that refer to an “affective” narrative temporality, we propose however in conclusion a summary of the different aspects located in the extracts. The way of telling the theme of permanent changes that affect the workplace today finally queries us because it does not appears linked to a specific category of staff but is spotted at numerous levels of responsibilities in the organization. In the suspension moment of the research interview, the main theme that emerges is the fact that one feels dominated by a time impossible to organize or to control. This theme is said in a very affective way. In others words, participants speak about a time which “affects” them in the phenomenological meaning, with resignation, worry, and even suffering.ouinonouirechercheNationa
This paper proposes to analyse the system of american pension plans from an institutionaland historical point of view. Since the 1970s, changes in pension regulationhave occured simultaneoulsy with changes in capital markets, industrial relations andcivil and social rights areas. Analysis is led in two steps. First, we show the strong imbricationexisting between reforms of pension funds system and evolutions of practicesof capital markets. The resulting retirement financement system can be characterized bya more individualised conception of retirement scheme, and an organization of financialoperators based on procedures. Second, through existing analysis on evolutions ofindustrial relations and civil rights movements (trade unions and collective bargainingdecline, extension of civil and social rights), we show a corresponding move towards anindividualised definition of conflicts. Those conflicts tend to be resolved through courts. This parallelism offers the opportunity to a more general program of analysis for institutionalchanges. It is based on a formal interdependancy of evolutions of politicaldesign and symbolic context and evolutions of economic institutions.ouinonouirechercheNationa
