Braided Words: Re-storying Holocaust Testimony through Indigenous-Jewish Dialogue
This article explores how material culture and shared testimony can be the basis for relationship-building between Indigenous peoples and Jews in Canada. It relies on Indigenous Métissage, a decolonizing methodology that uses artefacts to re-story Indigenous-settler relations. Drawing on their experiences as intergenerational survivors of the Holocaust and of Residential Schools, the authors apply this practice to the wartime diary of Melania Weissenberg, a Polish Jew who survived the Holocaust and immigrated to Canada as a war orphan in 1948. By exploring key points of entanglement, the authors create a braid wherein Mi’kmaw and Jewish narratives overlap, intersect, and knot together. This sort of dialogue can illuminate the structures and processes of settler colonialism while beginning to transform Indigenous-settler relations. Although the analysis addresses histories and legacies of genocide, it also shows how Indigenous and settler experiences are related through tradition, place, and memory.

The Effect of Gender and Teaching Methods on Academic Success in Virtual Reality to Reduce Gender Disparity in Technology
This study adopted a pre-test post-test quasi-experimental design. The sample size was 162 students from eight universities. The sample was categorized into two groups: Group I (n=79) and Group II (n=83). Electric VLab, provided the environment. A researcher-made achievement test, comprising multiple-choice, essay and practical questions was used for assessment and data collection. Two weeks before the treatment, students in both groups were given a pre-test in electronics circuit construction and assembly. Before the treatment, one week was used to train the groups on how to use the Electric VLab. During the treatment, each intact class in Group I was taught using the direct instruction method, and the other classes in Group II were divided into units of five students with a selected peer tutor leading each unit while the teacher coordinated the learning. At the end of treatment, the post-test was administered to both groups. Mean statistics, standard deviation, and analysis of covariance were used to analyze the data. There was no significant difference between the achievement of male students in both groups. Female students in indirect instruction classes achieved significantly higher than their counterparts in direct instruction classes. There were significant effects of interaction between teaching methods and gender
Unveiling the Potential: A Systematic Review on Harnessing the Affordances of Differentiated Instruction
Differentiated instruction stands as a cornerstone in modern pedagogical practices, aiming to cater to students' diverse needs and learning preferences. This systematic review delves into the vast landscape of differentiated instruction, aiming to illuminate its affordances and effectiveness across various educational settings. By synthesizing empirical evidence from many studies, this review examines the impact of differentiated instruction on student engagement, academic achievement, and overall classroom dynamics. Furthermore, it explores the implementation strategies, challenges, and best practices associated with harnessing the full potential of differentiated instruction. Through rigorous analysis, this review seeks to provide valuable insights for educators, policymakers, and researchers, guiding the enhancement of instructional practices and fostering inclusive learning environments. This systematic review demonstrated that differentiated instruction leads to increased student engagement. By tailoring instruction to meet the diverse needs of students, educators can better capture their interest and motivation. Additionally, this review highlights that differentiated instruction positively impacts learning outcomes. In essence, it underscores the role of differentiated instruction in promoting equity and inclusion in education. By recognizing and valuing the unique strengths and challenges of each student, it helps to create a more inclusive learning environment. These findings contribute to a broader understanding of the benefits, challenges, and best practices that are associated with differentiated instruction in educational settings
Critical or Conformist Economic Education? Reflexivity Versus Functionality in the Conflict of Interests
This article focuses on an essential element of economic education, namely the ability to think critically. First, the significance of education and empowerment is discussed in relation to the two levels of subject and society. Subsequently, the educational intentions in the two fundamental paradigms of economic education are characterized, namely in socio-economic education and in economistic education. In these, reflexivity and functionality are expressed in different ways: either as the implementation or negation of critical approaches. As a result, criticism, the ability to think critically and a reflexive basic attitude of young people are either promoted or suppressed. This has significant consequences for students’ understanding of themselves and the world. Based on a differentiated concept of the ability to think critically (according to Hedtke, 2023a), facets of critical or uncritical economic and financial education are analyzed in a differentiated manner in relation to the subject level and the societal level in a four-field diagram developed from this. Finally, implementations of critical economic education and their opponents are discussed using Austria as a case study
The right to nationality of the descendants of Haitian migrant workers in the Dominican Republic has been flagrantly violated for decades. These violations have taken the form of illegal practices, in particular the refusal to register the births of this category of children, and the confiscation of the birth certificates of those who were registered. From 2004 to 2014, instead of rectifying the situation by applying the rules of law in force, the Dominican Republic brought about a change in its positive law to bring the right to nationality into line with the stratagems used by the public administration to strip victims of their nationality. To this end, it has made use of the law, the Constitution and case law. The State’s behavior runs counter to the spirit of international human rights law, which guarantees the right to nationality, contrary to the Kelsenian logic that, in principle, the law takes precedence over the facts. As a result, the State is violating the right to nationality. Today, the impact of this transgression is being felt by the victims. This internationally illicit act risks engaging its international responsibility.
