This semantic study tackles the uses of Basque locative and possessive genitives that call for part-whole relations (meronomies). Observing data mostly extracted from corpuses, we show that the distribution of these markers can be explained on the basis of notions such as typical configuration and dependence. The proposed analysis is then compared with the results of other works, mainly morphosyntactical. Several clues about the relations between meronomies and other semantic and cognitive notions (localization/inclusion, "possession", ontology of spatial entities) that this study of Basque genitives provides are finally settled
On the loss of Ergative Displacement in Basque and the role of analogy in the development of morphological paradigms
Finite verbs in Basque agree with subject, direct object and indirect object. Argument agreement is complicated by the phenomenon of Ergative Displacement. In Bermeo ED has been lost. Both dialectological and diachronic evidence show that this has been the final resul of a process whereby forms are replaced one by one, starting with the least commonly used forms. Speakers employ analogies to derive less common forms, without complete morphological analysis

This paper illustrates how semantic properties of linguistic structures and forms highlighted by synchronic work can be used diachronically, in particular in etymological studies. With this aim, we focus on two particular classes of part nouns from Basque for which it appears that, while having opposite properties, they make up a real linguistic continuum. Then, we use these synchronic data in order to explain -through the concept of "foot/leg"- the etymology of various locative markers (spatial and sometimes spatio-temporal) calling for orientational notions
Sur le toponyme Gasteiz : origine et signification
The author explains why the Basque name for the administrative capital of the Autonomous Community of the Basque Country, i. e. Gasteiz, is no more than a simple anthroponym of Germanic, or if preferred Gothic, origin which also exists in Gascony and Franc
