Terminological Variation in Basque: Analysis of Texts of Different degrees of Specialization
No full textxThe aim of this paper is to contribute to the evaluation of the present state of lexical-discursive development in scientific texts written in Basque. More specifically, it focuses on the study of terminological variation in texts on genetic engineering of different degrees of specialization. It describes the patterns of variation found in those texts, and attempt to relate such patterns to different types of sociolinguistic and discourse factors. The sociolinguistic factors are mostly associated with the incomplete normalization of Basque. For that reason, we also discuss the issue of terminological variation in languages undergoing normalization and we propose a set of recommendations based in this study, which we feel should be borne in mind during the normalization of terminology of those languages

Cet art de l'improvisation traité comme un véritable « phénomène de société » par les médias est aussi un objet de recherche particulièrement stimulant comme en témoigne le livre de Denis Laborde, La Mémoire et l'instant, paru à l'automne 2005 aux éditions Elkar. Ce livre qui reprend sa thèse de doctorat sous une forme actualisée et notablement remaniée constitue un apport capital dans un domaine de recherche qui a connu un regain d'intérêt depuis quelques année

Souletin et batua : Pour un duo plutôt qu'un duel
No full textIn this contribution, the author tries to show that unified Basque (Batua) and Souletine dialect (Zuberera) are not incompatible, but instead that they are complementary. Here we find a typical case of diglossia in the strict sense of the word (Ferguson). The knowledge and protection of Basque dialectal diversity are necessary. The Souletine dialect does not have to fight against Batua which, in any case, is the stronger of the twoo. It must preserve its place by use its privileged fields: family life, associative circles, teaching in nursery school and primary education, cultural and religious life, in the province. Above all, the fate of the Souletine dialect depends on Souletins themselves.Dans cette contribution, on essaie de montrer que le basque standard (batua) et le dialecte souletin (zuberera) ne sont pas incompatibles, qu'ils sont complémentaires. On est ici dans un cas typique de diglossie au strict sens du terme (Ferguson). La connaissance et la sauvegarde de la diversité dialectale basque sont nécessaires. Le dialecte souletin n'a pas à lutter contre le batu qui, de toutes façons, est plus fort que lui. Il doit conserver sa place en s'appuyant sur ses domaines privilégiés : la vie de famille, les cercles associatifs, l'enseignement en maternelle et en primaire, la vie culturelle, religieuse, dans la province... Le sort du souletin dépend d'abord des Souletins eux-mêmes

Focus & Clause Structuration in the Minimalist Program
No full textThis article explores the possibility that the derivation of focus from syntax to LF can be implemented in a direct and transparent way. Assuming the principles of Bare Phrase Structure, I develop a derivational construal of the focus structure and provide a syntax of focus in Basque combining it with an eventish logical form whereby the focus falls in the scope of a binary existential quantifier (cf. Herburger (2000)). Adopting recent ideas of Hornstein & Uriagereka (2002), thistransparent interface is accomplished by allowing binary quantifiers to reproject at LF to get their nuclear scope

Autoreon iritzien aurkezpenaren ostean, heien argudiaketen kritika bat aurkeztuko dut eta nire proposamena egin : galdegai bat besterik ez dago, eta interpretazio-diferentziak epifenomenalak dira. Honela, 3. atalean Herburger (2000) lanean oinarrituz, galdegaiarentzat proposatzen dudan forma logikoa aurkeztuko dut.
