Rogatio e privilegium in Fest. de verb. sign. (p. 326.17L)
AbstractThe paper analyzes the long-standing problem concerning the relationship between rogatio and privilegium, extending the investigation to particular aspects of the legislative procedure, relevant to this topic. The research originates from the analysis of the headword rogatio in Festus’ vocabulary, highlighting its criticalities both in relation to legal thought and, more generally, in relation to literary and epigraphic evidence
Effects of the Enactive, Iconic, Symbolic (EIS) Intervention on Student Math Skills in Primary School
Abstract«Enactive, Iconic, Symbolic» (EIS) is a recently developed program modeled after instructional methodologies used in the Singapore math approach. The intervention emphasizes sequential mastery of math concepts, problem solving, and the use of the Concrete to Pictorial to Abstract approach (CPA). This quasi-experimental study evaluates the impact of EIS program on student math performance to explore the applicability of the Singapore approach in the Italian context and define the most appropriate methods for future large-scale evaluations. Eleven third- through fifth-grade treatment classes were matched comparison classes using propensity score matching, with mathematics performance measured before and after the intervention. A two-level random intercept hierarchical linear model was used to estimate treatment impact. We found no statistical significance effects of EIS after 16-20 weeks, ranging between 0.12 to 0.35 standard deviation units. The findings suggest the need for further investigations through largescale evaluations
Reframing History through Discourse: A French Discourse Analysis of Vox’s Political Language
AbstractThis article investigates the epistemological convergence between French historiography and French Discourse Analysis (FDA), emphasizing their shared focus on language as a vehicle for historical meaning and ideological formation. Tracing the evolution from the Annales School to post-structuralist thinkers such as Foucault and LaCapra, the study highlights how history has increasingly embraced discourse as both a methodological tool and an object of analysis. Through a case study of Santiago Abascal, leader of Spain’s far-right party Vox, the article illustrates how FDA concepts – such as lexical worlds, interdiscursivity, and discursive ethos – can be applied to political rhetoric in the digital age. Using lexicometric methods (IraMuTeQ, SketchEngine) and qualitative interpretation, the study analyzes a corpus of Abascal’s tweets (2019-2022), focusing particularly on the term golpista as a strategic signifier of ideological antagonism. The findings show how far-right discourse reactivates historically loaded terms to construct binary oppositions and mobilize collective memory. Ultimately, the article argues that FDA offers historians a powerful framework to interrogate the linguistic production of identity, power, and historical continuity in contemporary political narratives
Soci in affari: κοινωνίαι e κοινωνοί nell’Atene di età classica
ABSTRACTBusiness partners: κοινωνίαι and κοινωνοί in classical AthensThe goal of this article is to identify and survey all cases of business partnerships (koinoniai) attested in the literary and epigraphic sources of classical Athens and to clarify some juridical aspects related to their functioning. At the same time, it intends to assess the role of koinoniai in the various sectors of the Athenian economy and the degree to which they entailed interaction between citizens and non-citizens, with a view to further reflection on the extent of noncitizens integration into the Athenian community beyond the economic sphere
Étude de la réciprocité des territoires urbains et ruraux à travers l’agriculture dans la province de l’Estuaire au Gabon
AbstractStudy of the Reciprocity of Urban and Rural Areas through Agriculture in the Estuaire Province of GabonAgriculture, currently undergoing transformation and revealing signs of a territorial crisis, increasingly connects urban and rural areas in Gabon. In the Estuaire province, which accounts for 19% of the country’s agricultural population, there is a higher proportion of urban dwellers engaged in farming than rural residents. This paradoxical situation was analyzed using various sources and a questionnaire administered to 117 inhabitants of Greater Libreville. The results reveal an interdependence between these areas, with 96.5% of respondents owning at least one field, often located along major transportation routes. However, this interdependence remains unbalanced due to the absence of territorial reciprocity agreements, which could help ensure more harmonious spatial planning based on a win-win approach
‘Nullus idoneus testis in re sua intelligitur’: una proposta di inquadramento
AbstractThe essay aims to delve into the roots of the principle ‘nullus idoneus testis in re sua intelligitur’ to verify whether the prohibition of testifying in trials of direct interest constitutes an essential element of the discipline of testimony in the Roman private trial. The analysis of the sources in question, highlighting the relativism that characterizes the notion of ‘impartiality’ of the witness, leads to excluding such an eventuality, connecting the rule to the developments of the procedural discipline known in the classical and post-classical ages
Una valutazione col pilota automatico? Una riflessione sulle cose che possiamo guadagnare e quelle che rischiamo di perdere impiegando l’intelligenza artificiale nei processi valutativi
EVALUATION ON AUTOPILOT? A REFLECTION ON THE THINGS WE CAN GAIN AND THOSE WE RISK LOSING BY USING ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN EVALUATION PROCESSESAbstractThe paper analyses pros and cons of using generative artificial intelligence in the students’ learning assessment process. In particular, the article focuses on the possibility offered by programs such as ChatGPT to reduce the time devoted to complex operations such as construction of multiple-choice questions or classification of open-ended answers. Thus, it is possible to use the generated content to support a phase of the evaluation process that normally dilutes time and makes the workload difficult to sustain. Although the benefits from this side are significant, the contribution emphasises that it is quite inappropriate to claim that generative artificial intelligence can take over the responsibility for judgement processing. Firstly, since there are no objective evaluations, such a choice would merely conceal the necessarily subjective criteria used to make well-founded value judgements. Secondly, such a choice would imply a deresponsibility with respect to judgements that have relevant practical consequences and a renunciation of the possibility of actively and consciously employing the evaluation process for the enrichment of future experiences
Apprendere (con) l’intelligenza artificiale. Un approccio media-archeologico
LEARNING (WITH) ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE. A MEDIA-ARCHAEOLOGICAL APPROACHAbstractThe article explores the role and implications of generative artificial intelligence (AI) in the educational context, challenging polarized narratives between apocalyptic and integrated perspectives. Through a historical-cultural analysis and a media-archaeological approach, it examines the dialogic and performative nature of AI, suggesting a critical and mindful approach to its use. Particular attention is given to the relationship between simulation and intelligence, highlighting how designing meaningful learning experiences requires a deep understanding of the underlying cultural frameworks. Finally, it proposes a reinterpretation of the educational challenges posed by AI, advocating for the integration of innovative epistemological and didactic approaches that enhance humanmachine interaction without resorting to instrumental or deterministic simplifications
The Power of Social Sources on Students’ Well-being in Primary School. The Role of Teachers and Peers in Classroom Positive Emotions and Perceptions of Future School Success
AbstractThe present study examined the role of positive classroom relationships with teachers and peers in students’ adaptation. Fifty-five students in the final year of an Italian primary school (5th grade) participated in the study. The findings indicated that the quality of the teacher-student relationship was significantly associated with students’ well-being, as reflected by the frequency of positive emotions in the classroom and students’ self-efficacy beliefs regarding their ability to successfully transition to lower secondary school. In contrast, after accounting for the quality of the teacher-student relationship, classroom cohesion was not associated with the outcomes considered. These results highlight the crucial role of teachers in shaping students’ school experiences. They also underscore the multidimensional nature of the teaching-learning process, which is essential not only for promoting knowledge acquisition and ensuring academic learning but also for providing students with the emotional support necessary for their overall development
