Asinara e la territorializzazione negata. Ovvero, come un uso improprio del linguaggio può cancellare la memoria

AbstractAsinara and the Denied Territorialisation: Or Rather, How an Improper Use of Language Can Erase MemoryIn the language of journalism, and in non-specialist publications in general, places are often described using stereotypical terms that have little to do with the context. This is the case of Asinara, an island with a painful anthropic past (penal colony, lazaret, concentration camp, maximum security prison), now a protected area, often presented in tourist branding with the double stereotype of paradise island and pristine environment. The paper seeks to reframe Asinara by examining the practices of structuring, reification, and denomination through the analysis of archival material, visual material and field research

Progettare e valutare con il supporto dell’intelligenza artificiale: elementi per un approccio critico all’uso dei chatbot

DESIGNING AND ASSESSING WITH THE SUPPORT OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE: ELEMENTS FOR A CRITICAL APPROACH TO THE USE OF CHATBOTSAbstractThis paper explores the critical integration of artificial intelligence (AI), specifically focusing on using chatbots in training design and learning assessment, aiming to uncover both the potential and challenges in educational and training contexts. Through two exploratory empirical studies – one centered on the use of ChatGPT in training design and the other on its application in school learning assessments – the analysis examines the perceptions of teachers and students. The findings reveal that chatbots, such as ChatGPT, can significantly reduce the workload of teachers and future training designers, improve access to educational resources, and provide timely feedback. However, concerns emerge regarding technological dependency and superficial learning, with ethical and pedagogical implications that warrant a critical examination of the pedagogical effectiveness of AI tools. The paper concludes by proposing strategies for AI’s ethical and thoughtful integration in education, promoting a balance between technology and reflective, critical educational practice

Application of an Instrument for the Diagnosis of Knowledge and Awareness of Climate Change: A Case Study with Adolescents in Spain

Environmental awareness is a widely debated topic. This awareness is a general philosophy, an attitude towards life, which has gained particular importance in recent years, when the scientific community has shown that anthropogenic action has a direct and negative impact on the environment. This preliminary study aims to develop a valid and reliable instrument to diagnose knowledge and awareness of the environment and climate change. The ad hoc instrument consists of 41 items grouped into five factors elaborated from the literature review in the state of the art phase. Following an ex post facto design with an empirical-analytical perspective, it was applied to a sample (n = 99) of students representative by gender and modalities of 1st year of Bachillerato, obtaining a reliability of 0.9106 calculated by Cronbach’s test. In addition to having created  a reliable instrument, its application reveals the degree of ignorance of different factors, especially environmental factors from a humanistic-social perspective and sustainable habits. This leads us to the conclusion that some elements are not working in the way climate change is communicated in the current Spanish educational context

Matteo Marrone, il processo privato romano e la legittimazione passiva alla rei vindicatio

AbstractThis article provides an overview of the studies dedicated by Matteo Marro-ne (1929-2020) to Roman civil procedure, beginning with his dissertation of 1950. It focuses on his study, published in 1970 as a course of lectures on Roman law, which was dedicated to the legal standing of a defendant sued in a rei vindicatio under the formulary procedure of the classical period

Eredità fedecommissaria e interdictum fraudatorium nell’opera di Aburnio Valente

AbstractThe fragment that is the subject of this article is the only surviving part of the third book of Aburnius Valens’s work on the fideicommissum and, according to Lenel’s reconstruction, belongs to the section devoted to the restitution of the fideicommissum hereditatis. The jurist examines, on a case-by-case basis, the problems that could arise between the restitution of an inheritance by fideicommissum and the claims of the creditors; precisely for this reason, he discusses the application of the interdictum fraudatorium

AbstractA Critical Account of the (Inter)disciplinary Specificities of “French Discourse Analysis” in ItalyThis contribution takes a critical look at the contours of so-called French Discourse Analysis (FDA), its nature as a disciplinary field, and its (inter)disciplinary relations in the Italian academic context. Drawing on past debates that trace the lines of this field of knowledge and practice, as well as on the possibilities suggested by the articles in the issue, the authors discuss possible directions for disciplinary, interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary research in Italy in the field of FDA

    L’ἀτιμία del cittadino prostituto nell’Atene dell’età classica

ABSTRACTThe atimia of the prostituting citizen in Classical AthensA law cited by Aeschines in his oration Against Timarchus sanctioned Athenian citizens who practised ἑταίρησις, excluding them from many public activities. Other sources mention further prohibitions, not cited by Aeschines, but these, upon careful analysis, appear mostly unreliable. It follows that the prostitute was subject to partial ἀτιμία, however extensive; it was automatic (ipso facto). The prostitute perhaps incurred total ἀτιμία only if he was condemned in a δοκιμασία ῥητόρων

Patrimoine et métropole: enjeux d’aménagement à Montpellier (France)

AbstractHeritage and the Metropolis: Management Issues in Montpellier (France)The relationship between heritage and urban planning is examined in relation to the debate on metropolisation and how to overcome it. The process of heritage enhancement is conceived as a juxtaposition of heritage periods – ‘antépatrimoine’, ‘néo-patrimoine’ et ‘pro-patrimoine’ – which raise different questions about urban planning depending on the nature of the mobilisation of the heritage object, the associated methods and, finally, the capacity that is claimed for it to serve objectives other than its own. Examination of the situation in Montpellier (France) leads to a new question, which the methods identifiedsuggest: metropolising heritage or patrimonialising the metropolis

Interlinking Socio-Economic and Environmental Factors Driving Biodiversity Loss in Vhembe Biosphere

    No full text
AbstractThe Vhembe biosphere, a UNESCO-designated reserve in South Africa, faces severe biodiversity loss due to socio-economic and environmental drivers. This study analyses data from 1990 to 2018, including education, employment (Statistics South Africa), and bioclimatic data (WorldClim), with terrain data from SRTM. Using multivariate logistic regression and AIC in R-Studio, the best model (AIC = 28) showed strong predictive power. Results reveal that no schooling and rising tmax-12 and tavg-12 significantly increase biodiversity loss (p < 2e-16), while higher employment and precipitation improve biodiversity outcomes. Four frameworks – Socio-Ecological Systems, Human Capital Theory, Climate-Biodiversity Theory, and the Environmental Kuznets Curve guide interpretation – underscoring the need for better education, jobs, and climate policies
