    A scoping review of the research evidence of the developmental assets model in Europe

    Introduction: Positive Youth Development (PYD) is a strength-based perspective that focuses on the resources to promote a successful transition to adulthood, derived from the Relational Developmental Systems theory. In this line, the Developmental Assets (DA) model focuses on describing the personal resources (Internal Assets) and contextual resources (External Assets) that help to reach PYD. Most research from this approach has been carried out in United States and, to a lesser extent, in the European continent. The aim of this scoping review was to examine the evidence collected for the DA model in Europe. Methods: Web of Science database was used to search for articles published between 2013 and February 2024. Initially, there were 55 possible articles to be included, but after applying the exclusion criteria, this number was reduced to 11. Results: The findings suggested that the evidence for DA in Europe was in line with North American research, so that a higher presence of DA was related to higher well-being, better psychological adjustment, and lower risk behaviors. Internal Assets were the most influential assets, with the Positive Identity category being especially remarkable. Commitment to Learning and Social Competencies were also highlighted in the studies included in the review. Concerning External Assets, Positive Boundaries-expectations and Empowerment were emphasized as protective factors in youth development. These assets were found to present a protective effect against risk behaviors and were positively associated with PYD and socioemotional skills.     The Educational Potential of Video Games: Its Evaluation Through a Rubric

    El videojuego es un recurso de ocio muy extendido asociado a entretenimiento, distensión y evasión mediante el juego. La investigación indaga sobre su potencial educativo. El objetivo del estudio es aportar una rúbrica capaz de evaluar la educatividad de cualquier videojuego. No se tiene constancia de una herramienta comparable aplicable a cualquier videojuego. Se optó por una metodología cualitativa y fenomenográfica. Se realizaron 40 entrevistas a maestros y a expertos de la industria del videojuego. De la revisión teórica y el análisis de los testimonios se obtuvo como resultado la herramienta CEV 5* («Clasificación Educativa de Videojuegos 5*»). La conclusión más relevante fue que el potencial educativo de un videojuego es una información evaluable y transferible a evaluadores de videojuegos, padres, profesores, usuarios, técnicos de la industria del videojuego y la sociedad en general. Así, el CEV 5* puede servir de referencia para el diseño y consumo del recurso, así como para un mayor discernimiento de hasta dónde puede un videojuego llegar en la educación de una persona. Su intención práctica es aportar el dato de su educatividad de un modo fácil e intuitivo: de 0 a 5 estrellas. Podría ser un modo de que usuarios, educadores, empresas y la sociedad en general puedan ser más conscientes del potencial formativo de cualquier videojuego, para su diseño, uso, compraventa, selección, etcVideo games are a widespread leisure resource associated with entertainment, relaxation and escape through play. The research questions its educational potential. The aim of the study is to provide a rubric capable of evaluating the educational potential of any video game. There is no record of a comparable tool applicable to any video game. A qualitative and phenomenographic methodology was chosen. Forty-two interviews were conducted with teachers and experts from the video game industry. From the theoretical review and the analysis of the testimonies, we obtained as a result the ECV 5* (“Educational Classification of Video games 5*”) tool. The most relevant conclusion was that the educational potential of a video game is evaluable and transferable information. Thus, the ECV 5* can serve as a reference for the design and consumption of the resource, as well as for a better discernment of how far a video game can go in the education of a person. Its practical intention is to provide the data of its educational value in an easy and intuitive way: from 0 to 5 stars.     El Trienio Liberal fue el primer periodo de monarquía parlamentaria en España. Un primer intento de eliminar el yugo absolutista del Antiguo Régimen. En este marco legislativo del primer cameralismo, y a lo largo de los debates de las diferentes leyes que la prolífica acción de los diputados realiza, llegan al hemiciclo como donaciones 83 obras de autoría nacional y otras 13 de escritores extranjeros. Con este trabajo hemos realizado una descripción, tanto cuantitativa como cualitativa, de los textos que, en su mayoría, van nutriendo a las comisiones que tuvieron el encargo de realizar la legislación que se gestaba en la cámara. El hecho de que los diputados no se limitaran a aceptar las obras que iban llegando, sino que las distribuyeran entre las comisiones, sugiere que se preocuparon por elaborar leyes de calidad, depuradas no solo a partir del debate del hemiciclo, sino también a través de lecturas especializadas en cada materia.Enfermerí

    En el presente trabajo se expone el proceso de creación (estudio 1) y validación (estudio 2) de una herramienta de “Observación del Clima Emocional (OCE)”. En el estudio 1, se llevó a cabo un método Delphi en 3 rondas, en el que participaron 12 expertos en la temática. Como resultado surgió la OCE compuesta por 6 dimensiones principales y 2 aspectos observables en cada dimensión.     Experimental study of 6He Coulomb breakup as an indirect measurement of 4He(2n,γ)6He reaction rate for the astrophysical r-process

    In this work, we report the measurement of elastic and Coulomb break-up channels in 6He+208Pb collisions at Elab = 19.3 MeV, close to the Coulomb barrier of this system ∼ 19 MeV. In the context of the astrophysical r-process, the reaction 4He(2n,γ)6He has been proposed to be a key reaction in the path of synthesizing seed nuclei for the r-process, as 12C, in an environment composed mainly of alpha particles and neutrons. Based on a theoretical approach for treating three body reactions by means of which its reaction rate can be inferred, our experimental approach aims to obtain an indirect measurement of the reaction rate of 4He(2n,γ)6He by measuring the Coulomb breakup of 6He under the intense electric field produced by a 208Pb target nucleus. The experiment was carried out at the TriSol facility operated in the Nuclear Science Laboratory of the University of Notre Dame, USA, which delivered a 6He beam together with other contaminants.     Intolerance of Uncertainty, Job Satisfaction and Work Performance in Turkish Healthcare Professionals: Mediating Role of Psychological Capital

    Objective: Psychological capital refers to internal resources including self-efficacy, hope, optimism and resilience to overcome adverse life events. The current study sought to examine the mediating role of psychological capital in the relationship between intolerance of uncertainty and job satisfaction and work performance in healthcare professionals. Methods: Participants were 302 healthcare professionals [48% females; M(SD)age = 34.0 (7.5)] and completed measures of intolerance of uncertainty, psychological capital, work performance, and job satisfaction. Results: The findings indicated that intolerance of uncertainty was negatively correlated with psychological capital, work performance, and job satisfaction, whereas psychological capital was positively correlated with job satisfaction and work performance. More importantly, the findings revealed that these relationships were mediated by psychological capital. Conclusion: The results provide several contributions that help to understand the role of psychological capital in the relationship between intolerance to uncertainty and job satisfaction and work performance.Sociología, Trabajo Social y Salud Públic

    Maternal Perception of Pregnancy Loss: Protocol for a Thematic Synthesis

    Introduction: The number of women who present this perineal loss is high. Identifying the existing knowledge about the women’s experiences and perceptions of pregnancy loss is essential to understand the impact of the phenomenon on women. This identification is also crucial to adapt and improve the healthcare provided. Subjects and Methods: A systematic literature review, meta-synthesis, of qualitative studies will be developed with the goal of obtaining a comprehensive understanding of mothers’ perception of pregnancy loss and identifying their specific support needs. Inclusion Criteria: This review will consider qualitative investigations that study the perceptions or experiences of adult women who have suffered prenatal loss. All studies published in English, Spanish or Portuguese between January 1, 2012, and December 31, 2022 will be considered. This systematic review will follow the Joanna Briggs Institute statement for systematic reviews of qualitative design. The Psychology and Behavioral Sciences Collection, Scopus, CINAHL®, MEDLINE® and Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews (CDRS) databases will be utilized for research. Data extraction will be performed in-peers by the researchers, using the Joanna Briggs Institute model. Finally, the available data will be analysed using a meta-aggregation approach. Conclusion: A better understanding of this phenomenon will be useful, identifying, on the one hand, the support needs of women who have suffered fetal loss and, on the other hand, also identifying the support and interventions that can be implemented by health professionals.Sociología, Trabajo Social y Salud Públic

    Extended Lipkin model: Proposal for implementation in a quantum platform and machine learning analysis of its phase diagram

    Background: In recent years, the implementation of nuclear physics models in quantum computers has emerged as a promising and novel area of research. Simultaneously, the study of quantum shape phase transitions in nuclear models has gained significant attention. Specifically, the phase diagram of the interacting boson approximation (IBA) has been extensively explored, particularly in connection with large-particle-number-limit considerations. Interestingly, the extended Lipkin model (ELM) serves as a valuable alternative for mimicking the IBA phase diagram and holds the advantage of being more straightforward to implement within a quantum computing platform. Purpose: We explore the ELM and provide: (i) calculations of the ground-state energy using a variational quantum eigensolver; (ii) a comprehensive formulation for implementing the dynamics of the ELM within a quantum computing platform, enabling the experimental exploration of the IBA phase diagram for systems with a small number of particles; and (iii) a determination of the phase diagram of the model using different machine learning (ML) methods. We note that in the ELM, unlike the usual Lipkin model, both first- and second-order quantum shape phase transitions take place depending on the model parameters. Methods: Initially, we employ the adaptive derivative-assembled pseudo-Trotter ansatz variational quantum eigensolver (ADAPT-VQE) to calculate the ground-state energy of the ELM. Next, we introduce the essential formulation and procedures required to implement this model effectively in a quantum computing environment. Finally, we use ML techniques to identify the different phases and critical points of the ELM. Results: We successfully reproduce the ground-state energy of the ELM across the complete phase space of the model using the ADAPT-VQE algorithm. We provide the necessary framework for implementing the ELM in a quantum computing platform, ensuring that the model can be executed with controlled errors. Finally, we obtain meaningful ML predictions that allow us to determine the phase diagram of the model. Conclusions: Our findings offer compelling evidence that the implementation of a nuclear model like the ELM in a quantum computing environment is not only feasible but can also be achieved with manageable error rates. This realization opens the door to detailed experimental investigations of the phase diagram of the ELM (and indirectly of the IBA) in a quantum computer, further advancing our understanding of quantum shape phase transitions and nuclear structure.Ciencias Integrada

    Inclusive Didactic Resources On Mathematical Problem-Solving With Asperger Syndrome Students

    Esta investigación explora el papel de los recursos didácticos inclusivos en un taller de resolución de problemas con alumnado con Trastorno del Espectro Autista-Síndrome de Asperger. Siguiendo una metodología exploratoria y de observación, las unidades de información extraídas de las videograbaciones de las sesiones del taller y las producciones del alumnado han permitido analizar el tipo de recurso empleado y cómo han influido en el taller, considerando sus funciones y su carácter inclusivo. La estructuración visual, propiciada a través de distintos formatos de representación, ha resultado un elemento clave para que los participantes gestionen, comprendan, ejecuten y revisen su proceso de resolución de problemas. Se han evidenciado distintas funciones inclusivas de los recursos y un vínculo con los principios del Diseño Universal de Aprendizaje, aunque también la necesidad de adaptar y diseñar los recursos para propiciar el desarrollo de estrategias en otros contextos de enseñanza, como el aula ordinaria de educación primaria.This research explores the role of inclusive teaching resources in problem-solving with students with Autism-Asperger Syndrome. Following an exploratory and observational methodology, units of information from the students’ productions and video recordings are analysed regarding the type of resource used, its influence on the participants’ decision-making, their functions and inclusive character. Resources deployed visual structures, which have become key elements for the participants to manage, understand, execute, and review their own problem-solving process. The use of the materials has evidenced several inclusive resources functions and a connection to the principles of Universal Design for Learning, but also the need for adapting and designing them to promote strategies in other teaching contexts, such as the ordinary classroom of primary education.PedagogíaDidácticas IntegradasPedagogí

    Radiological assessment of both unperturbed and agricultural soils from southern Ecuador

    The radiological background in soils across various areas in Southern Ecuador, such as Vilcabamba, Loja, Palanda, Catamayo, and Taquil, was studied to understand the impact of agriculture and fertilizer usage on soil radiological composition. Areas impacted by agricultural activities alongside reference areas unaffected by human intervention were chosen, encompassing comprehensive analyses including gamma and alpha radiation measurements, isotopic ratio determinations, and assessments of radioactive decay chain disequilibrium. Key radiological parameters such as the radium equivalent index, the external gamma absorbed dose rate and the external hazard index were calculated. The external gamma absorbed dose is equal or lower than 57 nGy h 1 (mean value worldwide in the Earth’s crust). The remaining indexes as well as the annual dose rate are far from the limits allowed for public. Fallout due to 137Cs is negligible and below the minimum detectable activity (MDA). Ratios 238U/232Th varies from 0.55 in Catamayo to 1.11 in Taquil. These values show disequilibrium between the two radioactive chains and it is possible to assume A (238U)~0.64 A (232Th) (excluding Taquil, value 1.11). Furthermore, the radiological composition of commonly used fertilizers, including urea, NPK, NH4NO3, KNO3 and compost, was analyzed, identifying 40K and 210Pb as significant radionuclides. Interestingly, no correlation was found between the types of fertilizers used and the radiological composition of soils. The predominance of the radiological background provided by the parent rock remains the main factor influencing soil composition. The radiological background values for 226Ra, 228Ra, and 40K were established, with a mean value of 23 ± 5 Bq kg 1, 30 ± 4 Bq kg 1, and 450 ± 80 Bq kg 1, respectively.
