Adolescent rhetoric on migration in the province of Huelva

    No full text
Esto se ha relacionado con la construcción de identidades colectivas y de imaginarios en torno al «otro» a la par que se proponen mecanismos que, desde las mismas instituciones educativas, permitan construir discursos alejados de visiones prejuiciosas y estereotípicasBased on previous research on lexical availability conducted with secondary education students in the province of Huelva, this paper analyses the rhetorical components of the vocabulary related to migration issues produced through that previous research, as well as underlying social perceptions and discourses on alterity. For that purpose, all the lexicon has been collected, which constitutes a corpus of over 200 words, and several classifications have been made, both rhetorical and frequency-based. The analysis of these classifications reveals that students perceive migration as a stereotyped process due to a precarious socioeconomic situation in the country of origin, which they associate with the African context. This has been related to the construction of collective identities and imagination around the “other” while proposing mechanisms that, from within educational institutions, allow for the construction of discourses free from prejudiced and stereotypical viewsFilologí

Temporal dynamics of contaminants in an estuarine system affected by acid mine drainage discharges

    No full text
The estuary of Huelva is constituted by the common mouth of the Odiel and Tinto rivers, which are extreme cases of acid mine drainage contamination due to the Iberian Pyrite Belt, the world’s largest sulfide mineral province. The drained acidic waters are subjected to seawater mixing and thus, to dilution and precipitation processes that drive the load of contaminants entering the oceanic environment. This research reports the distribution of major metal(loid)s present in the highly acidic waters across the entire Tinto and Odiel estuarine systems as they are subjected to acid mine drainage neutralization, until reaching the ocean. The datasets presented are divided in low- and high-flow periods, corresponding to dry/warm and wet/cold seasons, respectively. Iron and Al were almost entirely removed from solution with pH increase at both periods due to their precipitation as schwertmannite and basaluminite, respectively. These mineral phases also, controlled the behavior of As, Cu and Pb, which were removed from solution, with >90 % of their concentration ending up in the particulate phase due to sorption processes. However, at pH >7, As returned entirely to the dissolved phase at both sampled seasons because of desorption, similarly to Cu at the low-flow period. On the other hand, concentrations of Zn, Cd, Mn, Co and Ni in solution decreased only by dilution with seawater, with null partitioning to any sorption processes during estuarine mixing until reaching the Atlantic Ocean. This work was supported by the research project TRAMPA (PID2020-119196RBC21) funded by MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033. Weighing hierarchical power and active contribution in cooperative games with authorization structure

    No full text
Cooperative games model situations in which a group of players work together to make a profit. Frequently, in cooperative situations there are dependency or hierarchical relationships between the players, which must be taken into account when allocating the common profit obtained by the grand coalition. Multiple structures have been used in the literature to model those relationships, and several values have been proposed, but there is something in common in all of them: if a player can veto the participation of another in any coalition, then both players will receive the same share of the profit derived from the active cooperation of the vetoed player. In other words, actively cooperating and giving permission to cooperate are equally valued. In many situations this is neither fair nor realistic. In this paper we introduce a family of allocation rules for cooperative games with authorization structure, which reward positional power less than active cooperation.Funding for open access publishing: Universidad de Sevilla/CBUA.

    No full text

The role of pristine carbon nanotubes as nanocarriers of 7,8-dihydroxyflavone

    No full text
Flavonoids are secondary plant metabolites with a wide range of pharmacological effects. Among others, their antioxidant, anti-inflammatory and vasoprotective actions are noteworthy. However, the low bioavailability of flavonoids limits their direct clinical use. Nanoencapsulation of flavonoids is an effective tool to improve their biopharmaceutical characteristics, as the drug is protected inside the nanocarrier and specifically released into the therapeutic target. Bearing this in mind, pristine single- and multi-walled carbon nanotubes have been studied in this work as nanocarriers of 7,8-dihydroxyflavone, 7,8-DHF. Flavone encapsulation is optimized according to the influence of pH, the type of CNTs and their concentration on the association process. The equilibrium binding constants of 7,8-DHF to the CNTs are determined by measuring the variation observed in the flavone absorbance when the concentration of carbon nanotubes increases. CNTs/flavone complexes are characterized by particle size distribution and Z-potential measurements, as well as Transmission Electron Microscopy. The antioxidant capacity of free 7,8-DHF and the CNTs/7,8-DHF complexes are estimated by using the DPPH⋅, 2,2-diphenyl-1-picrylhydrazyl radical scavenging method. The results show that the encapsulation of the flavone in the CNTs results in a preservation of its pharmacological properties and provides stability to the encapsulated drug. This research was funded by the Consejería de Educaci´ on y Ciencia de la Junta de Andalucía (FQM-206 and FQM-274), the European Union (Feder Funds), and the Project PAIDI P20-01234.

    No full text
This study investigates recent tectonic activity in Tangier, Morocco, using PSInSAR data and microtectonic field observations. The exploration of marine deposits in the Achakar basin during the Plio-Quaternary period holds significance for tracking the recent geodynamic changes in the study area. Microtectonic analysis revealed a shift from a NE-SW compressive regime in the Late Pliocene to a Quaternary regime dominated by a NE-SW extension regime and a NW-SE compressive regime. PSInSAR detected ground displacement rates ranging from subsidence (-4.9 mm/yr) to uplift (4.9 mm/yr) during the study period (2018-2021)Este estudio investiga la actividad tectónica reciente en Tánger, Marruecos, utilizando datos de PSInSAR y observaciones de campo microtectónicas.

The conquest of America meant the beginning of the historical period known as modernity, social and racial hierarchies. The accounting as a means of evidence to prove the prescription of the presumed income derived from the recording of a non-existent debt

    No full text
This paper analyses the consequences of applying the presumption that allows to derive income from the discovery of an inexistent debt in accounting records. In particular, we examine recent case law that has deemed that the uncontested recording of such debt in a prescribed period is a valid means of evidence for the taxpayer to demonstrate that the presumed income must also be attributed to that prescribed period.Derecho Público y del Trabaj
