”Han talte de om som en hjälte” examines the use of parody and satire in the Swedish comedy series S*M*A*S*H (1990) and Pistvakt (1998–2000) as well as the feature film Pistvakt – En albinovästern från de vita vidderna (2005). By analyzing how the series illustrates performative masculinity from the definitions of Judith Butler in Gender Trouble (1990), conclusions on whether they destabilize normative heterosexual masculinity are drawn. S*M*A*S*H shows two normative ideals for masculinity, the finance mogul that the characters fail to reach, and the elite athlete that the characters discard. Pistvakt shows several different normative masculinities, but also destabilizes normative masculinity mainly by illuminating the performativity of the construction of masculinity by making the character Sven-E a parodically unattainable super hero representation of masculinity.”Han talte de om som en hjälte” undersöker användningen av parodi och satir i de svenska komediserierna S*M*A*S*H (1990) och Pistvakt (1998–2000) samt långfilmen Pistvakt – En albinovästern från de vita vidderna (2005). I diskussion med arkivet: Kampen for værdighed i Hanna Dahls "Kraft" (2021)

Hanna Dahl’s novel Kraft (2021) tells the story of Olav, who is a former member of NS and volunteer on the Eastern Front during World War II. Dahl’s novel is one of the first first-person narratives in Norwegian literature of WWII perpetrators, even if the novel does not confront the actual perpetration. Instead, the novel examines Olav’s loss of dignity in the wake of his conviction of treason after the war. The loss of dignity is a central fixture that has come to dominate Olav’s notion of identity and personal relations. In this sense, Dahl’s representation of Olav aims to examine how the long afterlife of World War II in Norway has not only influenced the lives of the victims, but also the lives of the perpetrators. Through examining how the novel discusses the function of the archive, issues of dignity, and narrative empathy, this article aims to look closer at the novel’s portrait of a perpetrator searching for a way to tell his story and regain dignity, while struggle with the surrounding society.

This article attempts to make sense of the speaker in Johann Wolfgang von Goethe’s «Wandrers Nachtlied II» and Rainer Maria Rilke’s «Herbst». It starts from the observation that the utterance in both poems combines a rhetorical function with a space-creating function, and that both functions participate in the poem’s organization as a communicative act in decisive ways. My conclusion is that the expectations romantic poems arouse in us, those of the sensitive lyrical subject and the sublime nature, are contradicted by the way in which the act of utterance is designed in these two poems, both of which are closely related precisely to the Romantic era.

This article is a study of to what extent upcoming teachers, mainly in Norwegian, and upper secondary students agree or disagree on claims linked to how teachers and the school should act according to dialect, bilingualism and accented Norwegian. The claims are adopted from Lars Anders Kulbrandstad who carried out similar research among student teachers in 2007. Language attitudes as a topic is an important part of the competence objectives in the curriculum and therefore also something both teachers and students in upper secondary schools need to be aware of and have opinions about. The empirical material consists of replies from 308 respondents, 170 students from upper secondary and 138 upcoming teachers. The results show that both groups in general are positive towards these domains, but that upcoming teachers overall seem to be more positive both towards dialect, bilingualism and accented Norwegian compared to the pupils. &nbsp

    No full text
The cruise KB2022625 (28. September 2022, Tromsø to 13. October 2022, Tromsø) aboard the Research Vessel Kristine Bonnevie is a Polar Front process studies cruise of the Nansen LEGACY project. The study region covered the steep topographic slope southeast of Bjørnøya and the Polar Front region between Hopen and Storebanken, all-in-all spreading 73.5°- 78°N and 19.5°-34.5°E. The objectives are to study frontal mixing processes using microstructure profilers, to deploy and recover a short-term mooring at the Polar Front and to deploy and recover an underwater glider equipped with turbulence sensors. The overarching goal is to collect data allowing for the analysis of physical processes at the Polar Front on sub-tidal to synoptic timescales. Combined with data from previous cruises, the timescales of investigation may be expanded to seasonal and inter-annual periods. During the cruise, we collected measurements of ocean stratification, currents, and microstructure from the vessel as well as from transects using an ocean glider. From the vessel we obtained 267 microstructure profiles down to 0-20 m above seabed, 62 CTD/LADCP profiles down to 5 m above seabed (all with salinity calibration samples taken at the deepest point), and 14 days of underway current profiles. From the glider we obtained 207 profiles (7 days) including using microstructure sensors in the Polar Front region between Hopen and Storebanken.

The cruise was part of the Centre of Excellence(SFF) Centre for Arctic Gas Hydrate, Environment and Climate Climate (CAGE) at UiT – The Arctic University of Norway. It was partly supported by The Norwegian Petroleum Directory (NPD). The cruise had the following scientific objectives: Identification of gas seepage associated with assumed hydrocarbon reservoirs subcropping the sea floor due to erosion of overlying cap rocks.Identification of gas seepage related to leakage along faults breaching the seafloor.Acqusition of multibeam, subbottom profiler-, seismic data and samples of gas in water and sediments for cross disciplinary investigations by CAGEDeployment of seafloor observatory and oceanographic studies west of Prins Kars Forland The cruise may be known as: CAGE19_

CAGE14-5 Cruise Report: Fram Strait – NW Svalbard

    No full text
CAGE 14-5 cruise allowed to study the gas release from gas hydrated sub-seabed environments  at the continental margin off NW and N-Svalbard and the transport and distribution of methane within the water column. We carried out acoustic profiling (18, 38 and 120 kHz) in the water column, CTD water sampling for gas analyses, seismic profiling (mini  GI  guns), bathymetry mapping (EM300), and sediment gravity coring (3m corer). Though water above gas flares may be enriched in methane, methanotrophic microbescan reduce the methane concentrations and thus the amount of methane that may escape from the seabed to the ocean, one of the topics investigated during this cruise The cruise may be known as: CAGE14_5_J

CAGE17-1-Leg1 Cruise Report: Water column observation from CTD and water samples west of Prins Karls Forland, Svalbard

From the afternoon of May 15th to the afternoon of May 19th, CAGE-Centre for Arctic Gas Hydrate, Climate and Environment, the Department of Geoscience UiT, the Arctic University of Norway, arranged a scientific cruise to survey offshore Prins Karls Forland, Svalbard to perform CTD measurements and water sampling on R/V “Helmer Hanssen”. The purpose is to study the variations in methane release and its dependence on oceanographic changes. The area has been continuously surveyed for the last three years for methane concentration, and methane consumption by bacteria and other related data. Because of the good weather conditions time allowed survey of the outer part of the shelf west of Prins Karls Forland – the socalled ‘Masox area’. Here three CTD’s were taken and the area surveyed by echosounding (EK60), chirp and multibeam for combined flare survey (EK60) and geological recording of sedimentary environments (chirp and multibeam). A total of 69 CTD (conductivity-temperature-depth) casts were performed with 12 water bottles sampled for each CTD station. The cruise may be known as: CAGE17_1_leg

From the afternoon of May 19th to the early morning of June 2nd 2017, CAGE-WP6 at the Department of Geology Uit, the Arctic University of Norway, arranged a scientific cruise aimed at investigating sediment cores and porewater, and water masses, at the western Svalbard margin, Fram Strait, East Greenland Ridge, and Storfjorden Trough, visiting methane seep sites off Vestnesa Ridge, and in Storfjorden Trough on R/V “Helmer Hanssen”. Investigated areas were (in order of visiting sites on the cruise): Prins Karls Forland (PKF) (overlap with ‘leg 1’ 17th to 19th of May – see Leg 1 report), southern Yermak Plateau, Vestnesa Ridge, East Greenland Ridge, Storfjorden Trough and Storfjorden. The scientific sampling was done within the framework of several ongoing projects at the Department of Geology, University of Tromsø: “CAGE – Centre for Arctic Gas Hydrate, Environment and Climate”-WP6: “Methane Release, Ocean Acidification and CO2”. Planned surveys north of Svalbard was abandoned due to extensive sea ice cover and the East Greenland Ridge was surveyed instead. Sea ice over outer Vestnesa prevented surveys there and Storfjorden trough was also completely covered, but the sea ice broke up towards the end of the cruise and thus could be surveyed during the very last part of the cruise. A total of 15 gravity cores (c. 60 m), and 20 CTD (conductivity-temperature-depth) casts were performed along the western Svalbard margin (Vestnesa and PKF and Yermak). Data were also collected at East Greenland Ridge and in Storfjorden Trough and Storfjorden, brine overflow was detected. The CTD casts and chirp- and multibeam lines from PKF May 17-19th are reported in the cruise report for Leg 1. Chirp profiles and multibeam lines were acquired during transits and in surveys (mapping of East Greenland Ridge, moraine systems and basins in Storfjorden Trough, active and inactive pockmarks at Vestnesa Ridge and over and to find potential core sites. The cruise may be known as: CAGE17_1_leg
