On the applicability of scaling criteria to hydrogen micromix burners
This study investigates the scaling up of a pure hydrogen micromix-type burner from laboratory to
industrial scale, considering the stability and characteristics of the micromix combustion principle for
a baseline case of 20 kW using two different simulation approaches. Low NOx emissions and anchoring
flame without flashback risk are reported, and the technical aspects of burning pure hydrogen are
described. Four different scaling criteria’s impact on flame properties is then addressed using a set of
Reynolds average Navier Stokes simulations. A novel scaling criterion for the micromix-type burner
to ensure flame anchoring, flame stabilisation and low NOx emissions is proposed. This criterion and
the constant residence time criterion perform better than constant velocity and constant momentum
criteria in scaling up the MCP’s main characteristics. Finally, a novel methodology for scaling the
burner is proposed. The valuable insights from this study can aid in sizing laboratory-scale burners
according to the necessary industrial requirements. The authors would like to express their gratitude to the Basque Government for the support given to this research through project Elkartek and project IT1514-22
Generative AI and the Urban AI Policy Challenges Ahead: Trustworthy for Whom?
This Special Issue of Transforming Government: People, Process and Policy addresses the accelerating convergence between Generative AI (GenAI), Urban AI, and public governance. As algorithmic systems are deployed across domains such as transport, welfare, housing, education, and security, cities become both laboratories of innovation and battlegrounds of democratic legitimacy. Trustworthy AI has emerged as a policy imperative—but the question remains: trustworthy for whom? Rather than treating trust as a static feature of technical systems, this Special Issue reframes it as a relational, contested, and institutionally mediated concept—fundamental to the legitimacy of public action in the digital age. Contributions are encouraged that explore GenAI not only as a technological advance, but as a governance challenge that reconfigures discretion, authority, and the social contract between citizens and institutions. Inspired by Richard R. Nelson’s enduring metaphor of “The Moon and the Ghetto”—which captures the asymmetries between technological sophistication and social equity—this Special Issue invites a renewed interrogation of how AI policy can bridge systemic inequalities rather than entrench them. Urban governance frameworks must move beyond techno-solutionism to embed pluralism, accountability, and public value at the core of GenAI deployments. Scholars, policymakers, and practitioners are invited to submit empirical, theoretical, and policy-oriented contributions that critically examine how Urban AI can be governed with legitimacy, reflexivity, and justice. This study was supported by (i) European Commission, Horizon 2020, H2020-MSCA-COFUND-2020-101034228-WOLFRAM2: Ikerbasque Start Up Fund, 3021.23.EMAJ; (ii) EHU, Research Groups, IT 2046-26 and IT 1541-22; (iii) Ayuda en Acción NGO, Innovation & Impact Unit, Research Contract: Scientific Direction and Strategic Advisory, Social Innovation Platforms in the Age of Artificial Intelligence (AI) (www.designingopportunities.org accessed on 1 July 2024) and AI for Social Innovation. Emakumezkoen eskubaloia: ikusgarritasuna eta sustapena
Espainiako emakumezkoen eskubaloiaren ikusgarritasuna eta sustapena marketinaren ikuspegitik garatzeke dagoen arlo bat da. Kirol arloan gora egin duen arren, emakumezkoen eskubaloiak oraindik ere gizonezkoen kirolen aldean presentzia mediatiko eta baliabide gutxiago ditu Espainian. Lanak liga nagusien, jokalarien, federazioen, babesleen eta komunikabideen rola aztertzen du, baita Frantziako kasu arrakastatsua ere. Lanean, besteen artean, sare sozialen presentziaren eta jokalarien inguruan istorio bereizgarriak sortzearen garrantzia aipatzen da, Espainian garatu beharreko arlo gisa

Citizenship in the context of contested nationalism: Insights from Basque social movements
This paper contributes to knowledge about social movements' visions of citizenship. The aim is twofold: on the one hand, to offer an analysis of how social movements understand the subjective and objective dimensions of citizenship. On the other, to explore how a context of national conflict shapes activists' perspectives on this concept. To this end, it presents a case study focused on the Basque Country, a territory in which sub-state nationalism is a central feature of the social and political landscape. The paper is based on a qualitative analysis of the discourses of a number of Basque political activists engaged in campaigning around the issues of feminism, environmentalism, anti-racism and migrant rights, and the movement for the revitalisation of the Basque language. The main conclusion is that the national question adds an additional layer of complexity to the perspectives on citizenship articulated by social movements, especially in relation to language and national identities.Ministerio de Asuntos Económicos y Transformación Digital, Gobierno de España MINECOG17/P1
Assessment of metro accessibility and its relationship with Urban Economic Structure in Bilbao: a monocentric city approach
This work examines the link between metropolitan transport accessibility and urban
economic structure in Bilbao, a monocentric city with a defined Central Business District
(CBD). Referring to classical urban economic models developed by Alonso (1964), Muth
(1969), and Mills (1972), the study turns to the assumptions of the monocentric city
model to investigate the spatial and temporal access to the metro network and the CBD
in reference to the key economic indicators at neighborhood scale.
The study employs a mixed-methods approach integrating theoretical overview with
empirical analysis. The conceptual phase establishes a theoretical framework for urban
form, transport accessibility, and economic dispersion. The empirical phase employs
empirical evidence from 40 Bilbao districts to focus on variables such as housing prices,
population density, average income, unemployment, and business establishment
density. Accessibility is measured both physically and travel time to the metro and CBD.
Spatial data are processed in SAGA GIS, and statistical and econometric modeling is
carried out using Gretl. This aims to check whether proximity to the city transit system
influences the spatial pattern of economic activity as proposed by monocentric urban
theory
Business Simulation Games for the Development of Decision Making: Systematic Review
Business simulation games (BSGs) are considered a useful instructional tool
to be implemented in the classroom, especially in light of new trends in education. The
key components of the paradigm are BSGs and Decision Making (DM), as the latter is
often essential to a high-quality education. Thus, over the last 10 years, efforts to find
possible methods to enhance BSG learning experiences for the development of DM in
higher education have increased. The goals of this article were to examine the effect of BSGs
on students’ DM at university, and to identify the elements that can be developed in the
BSGlearning experience to promote DM. Following PRISMA criteria, a systematic review
was carried out using Scopus, Web of Science, and ProQuest. A total of 13 of the 2897
papers that were first discovered underwent a comprehensive review, with all conclusions
and findings subjected to analysis. Following implementation, the majority of the BSG
learning experiences enhanced DM results. In summary, a few key elements have been
highlighted that must be followed to ensure the BSG learning experience helps students
foster their DM
Lehen Hezkuntzako musika irakasleen prestakuntza: prestakuntzaren azterketa eta irakaskuntza-ikaskuntza prozesuaren kalitatean duen eragina.
[EU] Lehen Hezkuntzako musika irakasleen prestakuntzaren egungo egoera aztertu da ikerketa honetan, musika irakaskuntzaren kalitatean duen eragina nabarmenduz.
Horretarako, galdetegi mistoa erabili da, alderdi kuantitatibo eta kualitatiboak uztartuz.
Emaitzek erakutsi dute irakasleen prestakuntza ereduak, motibazio maila eta gaitasun
didaktiko-praktikoak askotarikoak direla, eta, kasu askotan, ez direla nahikoak musika
irakaskuntza kalitatezkoa bermatzeko. Ondorio nagusitzat, prestakuntza programak
sakondu eta eguneratzeko beharra identifikatu da, baita curriculumaren presioari eta
baliabide faltari aurre egiteko neurriak proposatzea ere, musika irakaskuntzaren
[EN] This study analyzed the current situation of music teacher training in Primary Education, highlighting its impact on the quality of music teaching. For this purpose, a mixed questionnaire has been used, integrating quantitative and qualitative aspects. Results showed that training models, motivation, and teachers’ didactic-practical skills are highly diverse and, in many cases, insufficient to ensure high-quality music teaching. As a main conclusion, the need to deepen and update training programs is identified, as well as to propose measures to address curricular pressure and lack of resources, in order to strengthen educational quality and teacher professionalism
A very fast failure recovery strategy: Offloading processing to the data plane to enhance the performance of communication networks
