    No full text
The chapter presents the results of an applied research funded by the Veneto Region for the detailed design of a wooden emergency housing module to recover populations affected by natural disasters caused by the effects of climate change. Especially, the research, named “H.E.L.P. Veneto - High efficiency Emergency Living Prototypes Veneto. Sustainable adaptive residences for temporary stay in an environmental emergency regime”1, was carried on following a Circular Economy approach and applying the principles of Design for Disassembly (DfD), with the aim to design a module able to undergo numerous assembly and disassembling cycles without compromising quality of living and user comfort

    No full text
The analysis of the relationship between architecture and landscape in the Ampezzo valley, forty years after the census carried out by Edoardo Gellner, provides evidence of the need to reflect on the risks for the conservation of these 'anonymous' architectures. The analytical structure that Gellner applies, with the identification of the peculiar characteristics of these architectures, suggests guidelines of approach, indispensable to define updated conservation criteria

    No full text
Gianugo Polesello’s “Venetian Projects” for the eastern part of the metropolitan lagoon city of Venice are rooted in a well-defined historical condition which relates to a still current “demand for modernization”. However, recognizing to the history of the city precise operational and theoretical values, these projects measure the contents of a possible “Theory of Venice” based on a constitutive “non-conciliatory dialectic” between need for transformation and historical continuity

Written at the invitation of the ADI Compasso d'Oro Museum, the essay offers a historical and critical reflection on design mediation and exhibition in Italy. Leaning on the author's previous research and recent historical and scholarly literature, which have contributed to the in-depth study of various exhibition, museological and museographic events related to Italian design, the essay aims to offer a critical chronology by identifying some transitional phases (the promotion of industrial design; the controversial construction of Italian design identity; the centrality of exhibition design; the exhibitionist/exhibitionist drift; the question of the design museum in Italy). Illuminating the centrality of mediating activities in the historical and cultural elaboration of design, the essay is also an invitation to rethink the formats of such activities today

Quale genere di città. Rigenerazione urbana tra intersezionalità e inclusione = What kind of city – Urban regeneration between intersectionality and inclusion

Public space design has traditionally focused on the experience of a ‘standard user’, typically a healthy male, which does not reflect the diversity of actual users. This methodological approach has systematically overlooked the specific needs of women, the elderly, and people with disabilities, resulting in a partial and non-inclusive understanding of reality. Starting from the need to adopt a systemic and integrated approach in line with the 2030 Agenda, and drawing on significant examples such as the cases of Vienna and Barcelona that highlight the intersectional perspective of gender in urban design, the article underscores the urgency of rethinking and managing public space through a cross-cutting design strategy. This strategy calls for the involvement of multiple stakeholders to foster more equitable and inclusive societies
