Thoughts of G. Mazzini in “The Circle of Reading” by L.N. Tolstoy
No full textThanks to the earliest Russian translations of Giuseppe Mazzini’s major work, I doveri dell’uomo (The Duties of Man), L.N. Tolstoy became acquainted with the ideas of one of the leading figures of the Italian Risorgimento for whom he came to feel a profound respect, albeit tempered by certain reservations. Evidences of Tolstoy’s esteem are the numerous quotations from the “father” of Italian unity in the works of his final years. Prominent among these are the many included in the Krug čtenija (The Circle of Reading) (1906) — drawn from Izbrannye mysli Iosifa Madzini (Moskva 1905) translated by L.P. Nikiforov — which are the focus of the present article. An analysis of Mazzini’s thoughts in the Krug čtenija highlights significant agreement between the Italian intellectual and the Russian writer on a number of matters: the explicit assertion that God exists, which is linked to the theme of universal brotherhood, social justice and moral improvement. The author examines these core themes, singling out several areas of agreement and disagreement between Tolstoy's ethical-philosophical vision and the thinking of Mazzini, in which no distinction exists between the political and religious dimensions. Tolstoy, on the other hand, in selecting Mazzini's maxims and thoughts for inclusion in the Krug čtenija, very deliberately separates the political and religious spheres, excluding the first and endorsing the second. It is this which emerges clearly from an analysis of both the content of the quotations and the linguistic changes which Tolstoy made to Nikiforov's translations

No full textFive Truths (2011) by Katie Mitchell is a multi-screen installation that shows five interpretations of Ophelia
in Hamlet 4.5 (the scene of Ophelia’s madness) and 4.7 (Gertrude’s report of her death), according to the distinctive styles of five of the greatest names in twentieth-century theatre and performance: Constantin Stanislavski, Antonin Artaud, Bertolt Brecht, Jerzy Grotowski and Peter Brook. This paper provides a feminist reading of Mitchell’s work; after an overview of how Shakespeare’s Ophelia and her reception intertwine with the woman question, this paper offers an analysis that highlights how Mitchell participates in Ophelia’s afterlife through Five Truths. The work is then examined, with a focus
on how the production context and choices relate and interact with the intricate and complex afterlife of Ophelia, considering, in particular, Sir John Everett Millais’ famous painting (1851–1852) and Elaine Showalter’s seminal essay ‘Representing Ophelia: Women, Madness and the Responsibilities of Feminist Criticism’ (1985)

volto il Gruppo GRDA del Dipartimento di Studi Umanistici dell’Univer
sità di Urbino Carlo Bo e il DAFNE dell’Università di Foggia. Si tratta di
“Botanica Partecipata”, un percorso interdisciplinare che si snoda in una
serie di attività volte a sensibilizzare la collettività alla biodiversità sia vegetale
sia animale e alla conoscenza degli ecosistemi in forma di partecipazione
attiva e di educazione alla cittadinanza per tutte le età. Tra queste attività
qui presenteremo la realizzazione di un Orto Sospeso collocato all’interno
del Parco Miralfiore (PU). Pedagogicamente, l’Orto può divenire per il Terri
torio e la comunità tutta un vero e proprio modello didattico del naturale, da
intendersi rappresentante del primo abbecedario: l’ambiente (Frabboni,
1978). L’orto è stato pensato per “restare alla cittadinanza” anche dopo le
manifestazioni della Capitale

No full textLa prefazione esplora la influence culture come nuova configurazione della cultura popolare nell’ecosistema digitale, analizzando la trasformazione delle dinamiche di visibilità, potere e partecipazione nelle piattaforme social. Partendo dalla proposta teorica di Marco Pedroni, l’autore mostra come la cultura dell’influenza vada oltre la figura individuale dell’influencer, configurandosi come un sistema di pratiche, relazioni e infrastrutture algoritmiche che regolano la produzione e la circolazione della popolarità. Attraverso il confronto con i concetti di micro-celebrity, agency e mediatizzazione, il testo evidenzia la natura performativa e relazionale della visibilità online, in cui autenticità e strategia coesistono in equilibrio precario tra autonomia creativa e subordinazione alle logiche delle piattaforme. Viene inoltre approfondito il fenomeno dell’influ-attivismo come forma emergente di azione politica e sociale che intreccia engagement e impegno, ridefinendo i confini tra cultura popolare, partecipazione e potere. La prefazione offre così una chiave di lettura critica per comprendere come l’influence culture stia ridefinendo la sfera pubblica digitale e i processi di costruzione dell’identità e della legittimazione simbolica nella contemporaneità
