Restarting Writing. Graphic Design Situated
The ability to produce and decode complex graphic-visual signs shapes representation and behavior. This is not exclusive to designers. Since the 1960s, studies in design and architecture have recognized the value of anonymous and amateur productions, challenging professional design’s role. Today, skepticism towards functionalist paradigms shifts design from problem-solving to problem-setting. This text reexamines graphic design’s scriptural nature, exploring
its social and political impact

This paper presents the L.I.D.E. (Language, Interculturality, Digital Literacy, and Ethics) framework as an integrated educational approach for rethinking language education in higher education. Grounded in critical pedagogy, intercultural competence, digital literacy, and linguistic ethics, the model promotes a multidimensional view of language learning as a socially situated, culturally embedded, and ethically aware process. In a context marked by global transitions, pervasive digital communication, and increasing diversity, the article argues for a shift from purely technical linguistic training to a pedagogical paradigm that values reflexivity, responsibility, and active participation. The L.I.D.E. framework proposes a set of interrelated competencies - linguistic, intercultural, digital, and ethical - to be developed through flexible and modular activities within university language curricula. The paper outlines the theoretical foundations of the model, its pedagogical implications, and possible applications in academic language teaching, highlighting the role of
universities as spaces for the formation of critical, digitally competent, and responsible communicators
Agricoltura Sociale.
Paranoia affected COVID-19 vaccine refusal by increasing beliefs in conspiracy theories and mistrust of science
Introduction: Psychological determinants of COVID-19 vaccination have been widely studied since the onset of the pandemic, yet little is known about how these factors evolved once vaccines became available. This study addresses this gap by examining psychological predictors of vaccination attitudes and behavior during Italy's third wave (spring 2021), a phase marked by widespread vaccine access and persistent public uncertainty. Methods: A total of 375 adults completed standardized measures of anxiety, depression, death anxiety, paranoia, mistrust in science, mistrust in scientific communication, and conspiracy beliefs. Vaccine intentions were assessed through perceived usefulness and safety, and by actual uptake. Using structural equation modeling with Huber-White robust estimation and bias-corrected bootstrapping, we tested a mediation model linking psychological factors to vaccine evaluation and behavior. Results: The analysis revealed that paranoia exerted a significant indirect effect on both vaccine evaluation and uptake, mediated by mistrust in science and conspiracy beliefs. Death anxiety displayed a small but direct positive association with vaccination behavior. Discussion: These findings suggest that while contextual factors such as vaccine availability shape overall attitudes, paranoia and related distrust remain stable psychological barriers to vaccine acceptance. The present study extends prior research by clarifying how enduring cognitive biases interact with situational context to influence vaccination decisions, with implications for public health communication strategies

Analysing the Logos of Natural Tourism Destinations Through Visual Semiotics: The Case of ECST-Certified Natural Parks
This study expands previous semiotic research on natural tourism destinations by examining the visual identity of Italian natural parks that hold the European Charter for Sustainable Tourism (ECST) certification. Utilizing the visual semiotic methodology previously applied for the study of Spanish ECST parks, this research extends the analysis to Italian ECST-certified natural parks, as together these two nations account for 78% of all ECST-certified parks. The study aims to decode the visual elements that compose the parks’ logos, by determining the basic visual codes of said logos, the visual attributes that correspond to each code, and lastly the possible meanings that those visual attributes could convey to the public. All the 48 Italian ECTS certified parks were considered in the research. The results confirm the efficiency of semiotic methodology in codifying the visual elements of logos and provide a detailed semiotic database that can be used by graphic designers and advertising agencies to design the visual identities of natural parks and other natural tourism destinations focused on promoting sustainable practices
