No full textThis paper examines the determinants of the productivity–wage gap in the European Union between 2002 and 2018, with a focus on the role of the labor share. Drawing on a nested CES production framework and industry-level data for 17 EU countries, we find that higher tangible capital intensity, particularly in non-ICT assets, together with capital-biased technological progress, have reduced the labor share of low- and medium-skilled workers. Institutional changes, including weaker collective bargaining coverage, the erosion of employment protection and the rising use of temporary contracts, have further accelerated this decline. Our results reveal marked heterogeneity across asset types, industries and skill groups, highlighting the need for targeted policies to mitigate the distributional consequences of capital deepening and technological change
Cultural Tourism in the Perspective of Wellness: Towards a Model of Smart Wellness Destination Cultural Driven
No full textResearch background Cultural heritage plays a fundamental role in the creation of tourism value,
contributing to the enhancement of the symbolic capital of places and to the differentiation of the value
propositions of businesses and tourist destinations. In Italy, this function is amplified by the country's
extraordinary historical and cultural wealth, vibrant human presence, and distinctive biodiversity.
However, Italian cultural heritage today faces a paradox: while some destinations, such as major art cities,
are affected by overtourism, many others—such as historic villages and inland areas—suffer from under
tourism, risking abandonment and a loss of value.
Purpose of the article: Considering this imbalance, the paper proposes an interpretive model that
distinguishes between different types of cultural destinations, highlighting their characteristics, challenges,
and opportunities in relation to the growing wellness tourism market. It explores how cultural heritage—
both tangible and intangible—can serve as a strategic asset to attract an increasingly international demand
for authentic wellness experiences, by promoting the Italian lifestyle encapsulated in the slogan "Italian
way of living."
Methods: This study adopts a conceptual research design based on a qualitative and interpretive approach,
aimed at developing a theoretical framework that integrates culture and well-being into a new typology of
tourism destinations. The goal is to explore the interconnections between cultural resources, experiential
well-being, and sustainability. .
Findings & Value added: The study provides a new interpretation of culturally driven tourist
destinations, combining the ability of destinations to generate well-being for tourists by proposing
personalized value offers in a slow manner or standardized offers that can be used quickly.
Moreover, the concept of smart wellness destinations cultural driven is introduced to generate value and
well-being for both travellers and host communities, while respecting ecosystem limits and local
specificities, and revitalizing areas currently excluded from major tourism flows

No full textSince blockchains are increasingly adopted in real-world applications, it is of paramount importance to evaluate their performance across diverse scenarios. Although the network infrastructure plays a fundamental role, its impact on performance remains largely unexplored. Some studies evaluate blockchain in cloud environments, but this approach is costly and difficult to reproduce. We propose a cost-effective and reproducible environment that supports both cluster-based setups and emulation capabilities and allows the underlying network topology to be easily modified. We evaluate five industry-grade blockchains – Algorand, Diem, Ethereum, Quorum, and Solana – across five network topologies – fat-tree, full mesh, hypercube, scale-free, and torus – and different realistic workloads – smart contract requests and transfer transactions. Our benchmark framework, Lilith, shows that full mesh, hypercube, and torus topologies improve blockchain performance under heavy workloads. Algorand and Diem perform consistently across the considered topologies, while Ethereum remains robust but slower

No full textL’unica casa possibile. Senza centro e senza campagna è un risultato del Programma di Ricerca di Rilevante Interesse Nazionale “Miserabilia. Spazi e spettri della miseria" Epicentro di studi, ricerche, teorie e progetti per lo sviluppo di una immagine e di una realtà per la città italiana contemporanea ed è dedicato alle forme dell’abitare concreto nel comune di Urbino. Il volume raccoglie gli atti del convegno “L’unica casa possibile. Senza centro e senza campagna” tenutosi a Urbino il 10 ottobre 2024 presso l’ISIA – Istituto Superiore per le Industrie Artistiche. Il convegno è stato organizzato dall’Unità di ricerca dell’Università Iuav di Venezia (coordinatrice professoressa Sara Marini), nell’ambito delle attività del Prin “MISERABILIA”, Principal Investigator professoressa Sara Marini. I lavori del volume restituiscono un approccio interdisciplinare al tema tra progetto dello spazio e architettonico, design della comunicazione e arti visive, sociologia e filosofia.
Il contributo specifico "Les héros sont fatigués. La grafica lontano dalla città nell’esperienza di Urbino", oltre ad offrire uno sguardo sulla storia del progetto nel contesto locale, con particolare riferimento al progetto della comunicazione visiva, individua nodi problematici del rapporto tra abitare e progetto nelle aree periferiche al fine di produrre riflessioni utili per la definizione di approcci e pratiche contemporanee
