DOES SPORTS COMPETENCE INFLUENCE ENJOYMENT IN PHYSICAL ACTIVITY IN PREADOLESCENCES?
n the sport and physical activity (PA) field, enjoyment is (Scanlan & Simons, 1992) and it can also be considered an important factor in promoting active lifestyles and regular PA among school-aged children (Carraro, Young, & Robazza,
2008). Although PA enjoyment depends primarily on intrinsic factors, sport competence may influence PA enjoyment
(Carroll & Loumidis, 2003). We investigated here the effects of perceived sport competence on PA enjoyment, initially,
expecting that perceived sport competence could be predictive of high levels of PA enjoyment. This study was carried out
to increase the existing body of knowledge about the relationship between perceived sport competence and enjoyment
Intimacy at work? A Comparative Perspective on young people at work in the context of neo-liberalized workplaces
In a recent chapter on the future of work, Edward Yates suggested a focus on young adults’
vulnerability in the labor market as enhanced by neo-librealized workplaces exploiting young
adults as cheap labor force. With little occupational training offered by states under austerity
regimes, with little power of unions to protect them, with little resources to pursue higher
education, they are left deskilled, devalued and therefore exposed to employers intensified profit
orientation. These processes differentiate countries based on path dependent entry of neo-liberal
ways of transforming labor markets. Thus, in order to better understand experiences of
vulnerability and forms of resisting them we suggest a comparative perspective on young people
at work in three countries under going neo-liberalization of workplaces to different extent: Israel
leading the race to the bottom, Italy following it and Ireland, where unions and Parliamentary
involvement slow down the neo-liberalization of workplace it in sense as increase precarity. How
comparative perspective is anchored in young adults’ perceptions of their jobs’ quality and their
in-work forms of resistance to the low levels of their jobs’ quality.
Next to well discussed forms of resistance such as the anti-work movement, the great
resignation, union action, we propose a focus on a far less discussed form of resistance: it is
currently described in the literature as organizational communication referring to intimate
gestures between employees indicating recognition of out of work sources of sorrow and
uncertainty. It’s a form of resistance that has the power to aleviate intrinsic dimensions of job
quality when young adults can benefit of response to the increased need for inter-personal
intimate connection at work.
Our study is based on 20 semi-structured interviews in each of the countries we compare.
Our analysis allows us to contrast between actual characteristics of job quality as understood by
our interviewees, their hopes, their views and their actions towards resisting alienation and
dehumanization. We use our findings to theoretically elaborate on current understanding of the
relationship between extrinsic and intrinsic dimensions of job quality
Hydro-morphological changes and sediment supply investigation: a case study in an Alpine-type river catchment (Marche, Italy)
Hazards may arise not only from inundation and the direct effects of the flowing water but also from the physical impacts of sediment movement, erosion, deposition, and the resulting destruction. Major geomorphological changes in channels occur during flood events, and one of the important questions is how big floods impact sediment flux and landscape changes overall. For this reason, it is important to study the effects of extreme floods on fluvial dynamics. The key concept is the sediment connectivity within a river catchment that can be used to explain the continuity of sediment transfer from a source to a sink and the movement of sediment between different zones of a catchment. This work aims to analyse the complex interactions of the elements that play an important role in the morpho-fluvial system, bearing in mind a series of cascading processes that can be triggered during an extreme rainfall event. A study was conducted on the small catchment area of the Tenetra creek, which is located in a mountainous area of the Marche region and whose physical conditions of geomorphological evolution are similar to an Alpine environment. This area was affected by a flood event in September 2022, triggered by an intense rainfall of about 419 mm in 12 hours, that caused an intense mobilisation of the material towards the valley floor and the main watercourse. The rainfall event also activated several highly mobile landslides, most represented by debris flows, that sometimes reached the river network, contributing to the increase in the river solid transport. The sediment transport analysis in the study area was structured with an integrated methodology based on different techniques developed individually by various authors for different environmental contexts. Focusing on the origin of the material to be able to define the availability as well as the productivity of the sediment, and secondly quantifying the material for a better understanding of the changes in the hydro-morphological. The slopes were analysed using Cavalli's connectivity index, which, using free, stand-alone GIS-based software, assesses the potential connection between the slopes and the land elements chosen as the target for analysis, in our case the main hydrographic network. Applying Geomorphic Change Detection (GCD) software, it was possible to quantify the difference between two high-resolution (1x1 m LIDAR-derived) Digital Terrain Models used to estimate the volume involved and to study river morphological dynamics through lateral and vertical variations. Iber Software, a two-dimensional numerical tool designed for simulating free surface flow in rivers, was employed to investigate erosion and deposition processes in Tenetra Creek. Iber solves the full depth-averaged shallow water equations to compute water depth and velocity. The sediment transport module within Iber is used to model bedload transport, applying the Meyer-Peter and Müller equation. The results explore the role of sediment availability and supply in a catchment basin through the study of connectivity, seeking to understand the relationships established between different types of processes. Through scenarios with different supplies, we set up to understand the impact of morphodynamic change during an extreme event
Formalizing Errors in CCS with 3-Valued Logic
Concurrent and distributed systems are often prone to failures. Errors in modeling an agent's behavior can propagate into large interacting systems with unexpected consequences. In this paper, we propose a theory for the process algebra CCS enriched with a formal and explicit representation of errors based on McCarthy's style three-valued logic, which includes the traditional Boolean values and a third error value. In this setting, we formally study how the emergence of local errors may or may not result in propagation, as also emphasized in a real-world case study modeling a distributed microservices architecture
