Clinical implications of epigenetics in Renal Cell Carcinoma

    No full text
Renal Cell Carcinoma (RCC), is the 9th most common cancer in the United States. The major classifications of RCC include clear cell (ccRCC), papillary (pRCC) and chromophobe (chRCC). Treatment for the localized disease includes resection or ablation with curative intent, or surveillance if these procedures are not feasible. Unfortunately, about one-third of patients will present with metastatic disease at the time of diagnosis and there are currently no reliable biomarkers to guide clinical decision-making. There is growing evidence that epigenetics plays a role in kidney cancer tumorigenesis and aggressiveness and new strategies for biomarker development are emerging. For example, DNA methylation patterns may be useful in distinguishing different types of RCCs and for distinguishing malignant kidney neoplasms from benign tumors. Epigenetic changes in RCC have also been associated with poorer response to treatment and have the potential to be novel drug targets in the treatment of mRCC. Here we discuss the epigenetics of RCC and the corresponding clinical implications.&nbsp;</p

Hunting for waterfowl is the most massive for amateur hunters in Russia. Hunting starts in spring and autumn, and the largest number of hunters take part in it, due to its popularity, low economic cost for hunters, as well as the possibility of using a hunting dog. In this regard, the role of counting waterfowl in autumn is important. The organization and conduct of accounting work should be carried out by hunting organizations annually, within certain calendar terms, and at a high-quality level.</p

Stormwater management a case study of Nashik city

    No full text
Stormwater management means to manage surface runoff. Stormwater management can reduce the runoff of rainwater. It includes controlling flooding and reducing erosion to improve water quality. This Strategy used in our Nasik city (Untwadi Road Signal) to prevent the impacts of Stormwater. We know that, in rainy season the water is flow over the ground surface. This rainwater does not have any suspended solid, it collects in drainage which flow by the force of gravity and then it discharges near lake or river. Urbanization reduces the infiltration rate of lands it causes of the flooding it occurs scouring and waterlogging problem. So, it is necessary to identify area of problem and suggest BMPs (Best Management Practices) techniques.&nbsp;</p

    No full text
The aim of this review is focused on the physical, chemical, and antioxidant properties of Ethiopian honey such as moisture contents, reducing sugars (glucose and fructose), free acidity, pH, hydroxymethylfurfural, (HMF), phenolic compounds, minerals, and water-insoluble solid and enzymatic activity of honey. Generally, the average values of the parameter were within the acceptable ranges of National, EU, and FAO/WHO which was set as permission limit requirement for general blossom honey quality. Accordingly, HMF (9.46±7.11mg/kg), moisture contents (18.93%±1.92%), free acidity (23.2±10 meq/kg), pH (3.94±0.14) ash content (0.32%±0.13%), electrical Conductivity (0.41±0.16 mS/cm), water-insoluble solids (0.20%±0.07%), reducing Sugar (70.46%±3.5,0%), and Sucrose (2.75%±1.1%) of the honey was found to be low, this value suggesting that Ethiopian honey were of good quality. The total phenolic contents of honey were high and strongly correlated with the antioxidant activity/radical scavenging capacity. A large portion of research findings are not focused on medicinal value therefore, more research would be important to focus on honey from medicinal plants and to build up the possible relations between the bioactive substances in plant parts and their nectars.</p

    No full text
Sorghum is a critical crop especially in semiarid areas where there is inadequate moisture.it is the fifth important crop among the cereals. Sorghum is a C4 plant which is originated and diversified in Ethiopia. It is used for feed, fuel, and consumed by human beings in the form of enjera, boiled porridge or gruel, malted beverages, beer, popped grain, and chips. In Ethiopia, biotic, socioeconomic, and abiotic restrictions limit sorghum production and productivity. Drought, Striga, disease, insect pests and etc are major problems Sorghum breeding program Melkassa Agricultural Research Center, which is part of the Ethiopian Agricultural Research Institute, is in charge of coordination in Ethiopia. National and regional sorghum improvement programs have released many open-pollinated and hybrid sorghum varieties for Ethiopia’s various agro-ecological zones. Nowadays to feed the world population the production and productivity of sorghum should be increased. As a result, the aim of this review is to evaluate the progress, successes, and challenges of sorghum production and productivity in Ethiopia.</p

Acute kidney infarction: Not so rare renal disease. A single-center experience with endovascular fibrinolytic therapy

    No full text
Renal Infarction (RI), a rare cause of renal damage characterized by the abrupt interruption of flow in the renal artery, is often recognized late or may even remain undiagnosed since symptoms are non-specific and may be confused with other pathologies, such as pyelonephritis or nephrolithiasis. In situ thrombosis and thromboembolism are the main causes, but often the real cause is, gf unrecognized. The disease is often underdiagnosed and the diagnosis of certainty can be established with ultrasonography Doppler of renal arteries or with second-level diagnostic tools (contrast-enhanced computer tomography, magnetic resonance with gadolinium, and renal scintigraphy) or third level tests (renal arteriography). The therapeutic approach depends on the cause of RI, from the time from onset of ischemia, from the presence of kidney function impairment, and may include systemic anticoagulant therapy, renal angioplasty with or without stenting, loco-regional endovascular fibrinolytic therapy or surgery, as the last chance. In literature, there are neither guidelines nor evidence about any treatment superiority. Here we describe a paradigmatic case in a 51-years-old man hospitalized because of sudden flank pain: the clinical picture, the high serum level. Moreover, we report our 7-years’ experience with 24 cases of RI, mean age 70 /±15 years, 14/24 men, 16/24 presented with hematuria, frequently associated with the history of CKD (16/24). Fifteen of them (62%) were classified as idiopathic and 9 of them were successfully treated with endovascular fibrinolytic treatment. A review of the literature is also provided.</p

    No full text
Technological advances have assisted in the development of modern software tools which can be used to assess and improve the energy efficiency of a building at the early stage of conceptual design. However, this study aims at validating the accuracy of one of the paramount building simulation software Integrated Environmental Solutions - Virtual Environment (IES-VE), widely used today. The methodology of this study involves physical measurements and simulation exercises. A longitudinal physical measurement was carried out using HOBO ware U-12 in 5 different points of the room space from 18th October to 4th December 2016. But, for validation, a critical atmospheric day (21st November 2016) was selected for the comparison. The room air temperature was first measured before comparing it to the simulated air temperature obtained from IES&lt;VE&gt;. After several analyses, the comparison of the measured room air temperature and simulation results showed similarity, discrepancy, closeness, significance, and accuracy. The investigation findings revealed a percentage discrepancy of 11.03%, which is less than the threshold of 20% between the measured and simulated air temperature of the case study model. Other findings show that: R2 = 0.98, MBE = 0.8, °C and RMSE = 1.70°C are all within the acceptable values of significance between the two data. These results signify that IES-VE is valid, accurate, and applicable for this study’s further Building Performance Simulation (BPS).</p

Denture in the rectum: A case report

    No full text
Swallowed foreign bodies are uncommon during general anesthesia. In the majority of the cases, these foreign bodies are passed spontaneously and uneventfully and the minority requires endoscopic or surgical intervention. It is recommended that every removable prosthesis should be removed, labeled, and stored in a safe place preoperatively. Furthermore, if a foreign body was missing, proper notification should be done in the immediate postoperative period to enable early detection and avoid any complications that might result from its impaction in distal places. This paper reports a case of a swallowed denture during induction of anesthesia. The clinical and imaging findings are presented along with a review of the literature. A 53-year old woman was admitted for laparoscopic cholecystectomy. A week postoperatively, the patient reported a colicky lower abdominal pain increasing in severity. Lowe <td height="20" class="xl67" align="right" width="130" style="height:15.0pt; width:98pt">9474946637r quadrants deep tenderness was elicited by examination. A foreign body was detected within the proximal rectum by abdominal CT scan. The foreign body was the patient’s denture that was not removed earlier during the induction of anesthesia. Endoscopic foreign body removal was done by flexible sigmoidoscopy. This case report highlights the importance of removing any removable prosthesis before induction of anesthesia and reporting any missing prosthesis such as dentures in the immediate postoperative period.</p
