Artificial Intelligence in Compromised Geographies: Redefining Power and Territorial Challenges
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is revolutionising geopolitics and territorial dy-namics, reshaping global power relations in profound and multifaceted ways. This chapter explores AI’s dual role: as a tool for enhanced territo-rial control and surveillance, and as a source of new vulnerabilities and instabilities in the geopolitical landscape. Through the analysis of critical case studies, including the Israel-Hamas conflict, the Russia-Ukraine war, and the technological rivalry between USA and China, the chapter re-veals how AI-driven technologies, such as drones and predictive analyt-ics, are transforming conflict dynamics, deepening territorial inequali-ties, and exacerbating geopolitical tensions.
AI’s integration into geopolitical strategies has accelerated the evolution of warfare, challenged traditional power structures and introduced risks of unforeseen escalations. At the same time, the global competition for AI supremacy exemplifies how technological advancements redefine in-ternational alliances and influence global governance. To address these challenges, the chapter advocates for the integration of Science Diplo-macy as a framework to promote international collaboration and ethical governance of AI technologies.
By fostering interdisciplinary dialogue and cooperative approaches, this framework seeks to mitigate risks while maximising AI's potential to ad-dress global challenges. Balancing AI’s benefits and risks, the chapter emphasises the need for governance mechanisms that ensure AI con-tributes to global stability, equitable development, and sustainable peace

Digital Compliance and Cybersecurity: an IT and Legal Investigation
Private companies are moving toward deeper digitisation because new technologies offer clear advantages, but this also increases their exposure to cybersecurity risks. Cybersecurity today must be understood as a complex and layered concept. It cannot be ensured through technology alone because no hardware or software can guarantee complete protection. This is especially clear when assessing the risks of artificial intelligence systems, where uncertainty must be treated as a probabilistic aspect of systemic vulnerability. Since no system is perfect, effective safeguards must also reflect the social values that the legal system protects. These issues show how closely IT security and corporate compliance are connected: both depend on internal processes that include methodological, organisational and legal-economic elements. So, a risk-based approach, promoted, for example, by the EU through the 2024 AI Act, supports a modern view of compliance in which a company safeguards legality by strengthening its entire organisational structure. Legally relevant assets can be threatened not only by external attacks but also by internal failures. This makes best practices and strong cross-departmental organisation essential, not just IT measures. Corporate cybersecurity policies are deeply tied to both general and specific compliance principles for the use of digital tools. This creates the need for a holistic approach and to manage cyber issues through compliance methods: in this way, cybersecurity becomes a true business matter and cyber risk becomes part of enterprise risk management
Meraviglie nel Meridione d’Italia: lo sguardo degli intellettuali nordici medievali
In the 12th and 13th centuries, southern Italy became fully involved in a political debate on the legitimacy of royal powers. Northern intellectuals describing
southern Italy manifested, on the one hand, an explicit program of appropriation
of imagery and, on the other, projected onto the territories inhabited by the otherness of antiquity a vision that seems to partly substantiate a constellation defined by Scotti as «Mediterranean Gothic». In this article, we offer a brief overview of the representation of the wonders of southern Italy in the works of northern authors
«Я обращаюсь к вам на вашем языке». Три неопубликованных письма Елизаветы Мнацакановой Владимиру Максимову и редакции журнала «Континент» (май 1977 г.)
«Ja obrashchajus' k Vam na Vashem jazyke». Three unpublished letters by Elizaveta Mnatsakanova to Vladimir Maksimov and the editorial staff of the journal «Kontinent» (May 1977).
The letter exchange between Elizaveta Mnatsakanova (1922-2019) and Violetta Iverni, found in the Manuscript Section of the National Austrian Library in Vienna and published here for the first time, shed light on a little-known episode in the poet’s biography, i.e. her involvement in the controversy surrounding the almanac «Apollon-77» (Paris, 1977) edited by the artist Michail Shemiakin with the collaboration of the poet Konstantin Kuz'minskii. Struck by the harshness of the attacks launched by representatives of the first wave of emigration against her fellow contributors, Mnatsakanova adopted the terminology of Soviet political dissent (to which she did not belong) to explain to the elderly emigrants that the censorious and offensive tones used against «Apollon-77» were incompatible with the image of freedom fighters that they claimed for themselves
Teaching experiences, feminist practices, awareness of subjective and collective identities: a mutual co-construction within bodies, words and (self)reflections in the Italian '70s
Considering the feminisation of the Italian school system as a preliminary historical premise, this paper examines the Seventies and pays attention to grassroots and feminist experiences that emerged at that time. In doing so, it addresses the following questions: how have teachers' and women's identities been discussed in Italian grassroots and feminist magazines in the Seventies? How did the debate and reflections they proposed contribute to the mutual co-construction – and deconstruction – of ideas on teachers, the body, the relationship with power and women's identity? To answer these questions, the following experiences and publications are examined: the book L'erba voglio by Fachinelli et al., published in 1971; the homonymous journal published from 1971 to 1977; and the feminist periodical effe, published from 1973 to 1982. Extracts and articles have been selected and analysed to grasp the symbolic and social (dis)order they evoked concerning topics such as the relationship between students and teachers; the relationship with the authority both when it is possessed and in the case of being submitted to it; how teachers' identity was conceived, in particular of female teachers; the modality through which bodies were perceived, experienced and narrated within school; how the reflection on school was intertwined with discourses on society, power and gender
