Kirjotut kannat -kollektiivin taiteilijat, käsityöläiset, aktivistit ja taiteentutkijat ovat kirjoneet villalle värjäämillään langoillaan. 18 kollektiivin 20:stä jäsenestä osallistuu näyttelyyn.Kirjotut kannat -kollektiivin näyttely tuo peittokirjontaperinteen nykypäivään. Näyttely syventyy perinteisten materiaalien, kuten villan sekä kasvi- ja sienivärjätyn langan, estetiikkaan. Kollektiivi uudistaa peittokirjonnan visuaalista ja symbolista kieltä ilmaisemaan henkilökohtaisia ja yhteiskunnallisia teemoja.Näyttelyn tekijät ovat Suvi Autio, Chia-Chen Chang, Lola Cervantes, Andrew Ekhafe, Laura Haapasalo, Maria Huhmarniemi, Elina Härkönen, Tenka Issakainen, Tanya Kravtsov, Alina Korotovskaia, Minna Kovero, Elina Luiro, Miia Mäkinen, Niina Oinas, Misia Siennicka, Petra Raudaskos, Ezgi Tanriverdi ja Sannu Vaarala. No full textThe pedagogical environment’s significant role in education is viewed as a “third educator” in Reggio Emilia’s pedagogical philosophy. This study employs a posthuman theoretical framework and an art-based educational research method to explore how teachers experience the role of physical pedagogical environments, the barriers that may hinder their use, and potential strategies to overcome the obstacles. The study was conducted in Sweden, and thirteen teachers shared their perspectives on physical pedagogical environments. Research data included teachers’ drawings, interviews and open-ended questionnaires. Findings reveal that, while teachers recognise the importance of physical pedagogical environments in teaching, they encounter challenges in utilising them effectively and suggest ways to address these obstacles. Continuous education for teachers, inspiring physical learning environments in teacher education, and practical training are essential to fulfil the potential and enhance the use of physical pedagogical environments in accordance with the posthuman paradigm

MUTEn uutta näytöskonseptia pilotoidaan ensimmäisen kerran tiedekeskus ja museo Arktikumissa torstaina 09.10.2025.Näytös rakentaa kaaren menneestä nykyhetkeen – opintojen alkuvaiheista valmistumisen jälkeiseen työelämään. Samalla näytös esittelee pohjoisen muoti- ja tekstiilisuunnittelun nykyisiä visioita ja tulevaisuuden näkymiä.Näytöksen kantavia arvoja ovat yhteisöllisyys, monimuotoisuus, tutkimuksellisuus, kantaaottavuus ja vastuullisuus. Ne näkyvät näytöslavalla konkreettisesti kestävissä materiaalivalinnoissa, rohkeissa kokeiluissa sekä perinteitä haastavissa suunnitteluratkaisuissa. Näytösvaatteiden taustalla on merkityksiä ja tarinoita, jotka pohjautuvat taiteelliseen ilmaisuun ja tutkimukseen. Teokset tarjoavat katsojalle näkökulmia pohjoiseen muoti- ja tekstiilisuunnittelun osaamiseen ja haastavat pohtimaan muodin ja tekstiitaiteen asemaa osana yhteiskuntaa ja kulttuuria.Lavalla nähdään prototyyppejä ja yksittäisiä kurssitöitä, joita seuraavat opiskelijoiden ja henkilökunnan mallistot. Mallistojen jälkeen nähdään tekstiilitaiteen ja pukutaiteen kokonaisuudet. Mukana on myös kokoelma Arctic Pride -muotinäytöksissä esiteltyjä kantaaottavia yhdenvertaisuuden ja monimuotoisuuden teemoja tarkastelevia teoksia. Näytös huipentuu alumnien mallistoihin, joissa näkyy opiskelijoiden yksilöllisten polkujen muuttuminen työelämässä ammatilliseksi kasvuksi ja omaksi muotokieleksi.re:MUTE 2025 on yhteinen kohtaaminen, jossa muoti ja tekstiilisuunnittelu käyvät vuoropuhelua menneisyyden, nykyisyyden ja tulevaisuuden välillä. Näytös tarjoaa läpileikkauksen koulutusohjelman monipuolisesta osaamisesta sekä kutsuu yleisön kokemaan ja pohtimaan, millaiseksi Lapin yliopiston Muodin ja tekstiilisuunnittelun koulutusohjelman ääni muotoutuu.Kaikki näytöksen vaatteet on valmistettu itse käsityönä
Factors of Trust for Successfully Adopting Social Robots on the Campus
No full textSocial robots are making their way into different everyday use cases. Their adoption depends on getting many factors right. In this paper, we investigate the obstacles we might face when introducing social robots on the campus. In particular, we focus on trust, which is a crucial requirement between robots and humans. We collected data using questionnaires and interviews, and our analysis yields a set of factors of users’ trust that may affect the future adoption of social robots, a set of use-cases for social robots on campus and their associated user expectations. Adapting an established model of trust, we highlight operational and operator transparency as keys for gaining users’ trust in on-campus social robots. Our work contributes to the literature by providing practical considerations for setting up social robots for success on campuses
Pedagogical Design of Playful Learning in English as a Foreign Language Learning:Chinese Teachers’ Perspectives
No full textA well-considered pedagogical design can significantly enhance the implementation of playful learning in school settings. Teachers’ beliefs, attitudes, and instructional practices play a decisive role in the success of innovative pedagogical approaches. This study explores Chinese primary school teachers’ perspectives on the design and implementation of playful learning pedagogy in the context of English as a Foreign Language (EFL) learning. Eight teachers participated in a 1.5-month playful learning project that included workshops and a two-week classroom implementation period. In the workshops, the teachers were familiarised with the concept of playful learning and a preliminary Pedagogical Design Model. They then implemented playful learning pedagogy in their classrooms, involving a total of 320 students. Post-implementation interview data were collected and analysed using thematic analysis. The findings indicate that teachers perceived the pedagogical design of playful learning as a valuable yet somewhat ambiguous process, viewing it as an important tool for enhancing students’ EFL learning. Although the teachers provided generally positive feedback, they also expressed concerns about the systematic design of the playful learning process. The study provides valuable insights into the use of playful learning pedagogy in the Chinese primary school context
Resilience in Finnish security and defence rhetoric:Examining colonial underpinnings
No full textThis paper examines Finland’s transformed security and defence policies. Following a broader European trend, Finland has begun emphasising resilience as a source of national security. Drawing on previous scholarship that has problematised the normalisation of resilience in security discussions, we examine Finland’s resilience rhetoric. Our focus is on two government reports from 2024 that represent the country’s new security vocabulary. Using Toulmin’s model or argumentation, we dissect how the argument for security-driven resilience is constructed. Finland is an Arctic country where an Indigenous people — the Sámi — live and, overall, the country has acknowledged Indigenous peoples’ vital role in the development of the region. Accordingly, it is pertinent to study how the notion of resilience proffered by the state acknowledges Sámi perspectives. By problematising the assumptions of unity and neutrality that characterise Finland’s security and defence rhetoric, the paper contributes to the discussions on the colonial underpinnings of resilience
