    EXPLORING THE ROLE OF IMPLICIT AND EXPLICIT MEMORY THROUGH PURCHASE INTENTION OF AIRASIA PRODUCTS

    Advertising appeals, namely emotional and rational appeals are both considered as a well-known message strategy in advertising body of knowledge. However, there has been limited study to understand the relationships between both appeals and memory, namely implicit and explicit memory. Same situation can be said with understanding the relationships between both implicit and explicit memory with purchase intention of airline products. Underpinned by hierarchy of effects model, this study aimed to understand the relationship between both emotional and rational appeals with implicit and explicit memory, as well as relationship between implicit and explicit memory with purchase intention of AirAsia products, the world’s best low-cost airlines. Through purposive sampling, respondents for this study were taken from customers who have travelled by air with local airlines in Malaysia. Quantitative survey was done to collect the data, while IBM SPSS and SmartPLS software were used to analyse the data. Results from this study suggest a relationship between explicit memory and purchase intention. Further discussion of results from this study and suggestions for future research were discussed

    Power Efficiency in Unfolding RIPEMD-160 : Dynamic Power Analysis Using Gray Encoding in FPGA Design

    The RIPEMD-160 hash functions are extensively used in many cryptographic applications, including digital signatures, Hash Message Authentication Codes (HMAC) and others. Unfolding RIPEMD-160 was designed to analyse the architecture of the design in terms of ALUTs area and design speed. This method was also applied to RIPEMD-160 designs to analyse the internal structure concerning area, maximum frequency, and throughput. The implementation of design using the unfolding transformation approach with a factor of four yields significant throughput performance. This project aims to enhance the power efficiency of the RIPEMD-160 hash function with an unfolding factor of 4 through the application of Gray encoding. The unfolding transformation factor of four approaches can increase RIPEMD-160's throughput to approximately 1753.50 Mbps. The performance-to-area ratio of RIPEMD-160, when unfolded with factor four designs, exhibits an increase of 1.51% relative to the iterative RIPEMD-160 design. The design was simulated to verify the accuracy of the RIPEMD-160 designs regarding functional and timing simulations. The dynamic power consumption of the RIPEMD-160 design using Gray encoding was reduced by 64.6% compared to binary encoding and this is attributed to the lower switching activity associated with Gray encoding

    Leveraging Vulnerability and Adaptability Assessments to Enhance Fire Safety in Sungai Asap Longhouses, Sarawak

    Longhouses in Sarawak are susceptible to fire incidents, and limited research has been conducted on their vulnerability and adaptability to fire hazards. Therefore, this paper aims to examine the vulnerability and adaptability level of longhouses in Sungai Asap to fire hazards. A quantitative approach was conducted. A sampling of 59 respondents was interviewed through a survey and data are analysed using frequency test. The findings revealed that three longhouses were in the category of at-risk while the other three were vulnerable. Fire risks were related with the usage of electricity, inadequate fire safety features, and the proneness of building materials to fire. Recommendations to reduce vulnerability include regular awareness programmes on fire safety, engagement of a certified chargemen and changing to less prone building materials. The findings can assist in improving longhouse fire safety in Sarawak and as a framework to develop guidelines for designing new communal dwellings

    Simulation and Experimental Analysis of Laptop Air Multiplier Fan with Application of Coanda Effect

    This paper presents a simulation and experimental analyses of an air multiplier fan design as an alternative laptop cooling solution, using the application of Coanda effect. This study involved computer-aided design (CAD) and modelling of the designs usingAutodesk Fusion360; fabrication of the proposed designs using fused deposition modelling (FDM) 3D printer; data collection of air velocity and sound level for the original equipment manufacturer (OEM) laptop fan and the 3D printed designs; computational fluid dynamic (CFD) simulation of the designs using ANSYS Fluent; and finally, validation and comparison of the data obtained from the experimental results to the simulation results. Important design characteristics were identified, such as using Eppler 473as the airfoil profile, slit angle at 30⁰ and a slit width of 1 mm. Two concept designs, named Design 1 and Design 2, were generated based on these design characteristics. The air velocity and sound level experimental data were collected using the 3D printed prototype of Design 1 and Design 2, using an anemometer and a sound level meter, respectively. CFD simulation for Design 1 and Design 2 was done using ANSYS Fluent with standard k-epsilon as the turbulence model. The result obtained show that both conceptual designs outperformed the OEM fan based on air velocity and sound level generated. The airfoil surface generated an increase in air velocity due to the Coanda effect and the absence of rotating parts minimises noise

    Structural insights into the enzymatic activity of cysteine protease of MD2 pineapple

    The MD2 pineapple contains 14 various sizes of bromelain (MD2-bromelains) ranging from 19-200 kDa which are suspected to be structurally and enzymatically varied. This study aims to compare the enzymatic activity and structural features of small and medium-sizes of MD2-bromelains, designated as MD2-SBro (19 kDa) and MD2-MBro (38 kDa), respectively. Materials and Methods: Purified recombinant MD2-SBro and MD2-MBro obtained were used in this study. The enzymatic activity of both MD2-bromelain was determined using a plate agar system with casein as a substrate. Three-dimensional (3D) structures of both MD2-bromelains were constructed under SWISS-MODEL server-based structural homology modeling and verified stereo-chemically. Results: The MD2-SBro and MD2-MBro were shown to be enzymatically active toward casein with MD2-MBro exhibited higher enzymatic activity than MD2-SBro. The 3D structures revealed that Cys-His active site position of MD2-SBro was found to be located in the inappropriate location for catalysis. Besides, the substrate-binding pocket of MD2-SBro was found to be less hydrophobic than that of MD2-MBro. Conclusion: Unique structural features around the active site of MD2-SBro and MD2-MBro might account for the discrepancy in their enzymatic activities

    Effects of anti-rainbow trout germ-cell monoclonal antibody on germ cells and gonadal tissues in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)

    The development of sterilization technology is important to improve the production efficacy of aquaculture and prevent genetically modified fish from escaping. Immunosterilization is a novel sterilization method that has already been used in mammals. In this study, anti-rainbow trout germ-cell monoclonal antibodies (anti-GC mAbs) were injected into immature rainbow trout Oncorhynchus mykiss, and their effects were analyzed. First, anti-GC mAbs labeled with Alexa Fluor 488 were injected into the body cavity of larvae 20 days (group 1) and 102 days (group 2) after fertilization. Second, anti-GC mAbs were injected into the body cavity of yearling trout (group 3), and their impacts on gonadal tissue were analyzed in terms of histology and gene expression levels. As a result, anti-GC mAbs were observed to bind to some primordial GCs in group 1, whereas there were no obvious positive cells in male testes of group 2. In contrast, green fluorescent signals were observed in an arrangement parallel to the ovarian lamina in female ovaries of group 2, which was similar to the arrangement of positive signals on ovarian tissue sections immunostained with anti-GC mAbs. GCs in group 1 were observed again after 76 days, and double-positive cells remained. In group 3, there were changes in the expression levels of GC-specific genes, but the changes were not seen as biologically meaningful. Moreover, there was no histological abnormality in gonadal tissues after immunization. In conclusion, these results suggested that anti-GC mAbs could only reach GCs in early developmental stages or in the ovary, and injection of anti-GCs mAbs did not have harmful effects on GCs after binding

    An Improved Network Intrusion Detection Method Based On CNN-LSTM-SA

    Network intrusion detection is an essential component of contemporary cybersecurity strategies, and the development of efficient techniques to accurately identify malicious activities has become a priority. This study investigates the performance of various conventional machine learning algorithms, including decision trees, naive Bayes, naive Bayes trees, random forest, random trees, MLP, and SVM, in detecting network intrusions using binary and multi-classification approaches. Furthermore, the study proposes a deep learning method, CNN-LSTM-SA, which consistently outperforms conventional machine learning techniques in terms of precision, recall, F1 score, and overall accuracy for network intrusion detection. Specifically, the proposed method combines CNN and LSTM with SA in machine learning theory to extract more optimized, strongly correlated features. The proposed method is evaluated using the benchmark NSL-KDD database. The results indicate that the CNN-LSTM-SA method holds great potential in enhancing the efficacy of network intrusion detection systems

    Phin : A Lute of the Isan Region of Thailand

    The phin is a lute that originated in Thailand's Isan region. The strings 1, 2, and 3 for the phin is E4, A3, and E3. It was tuned to the key of G major. The strings 1, 2, and 3 running notes are E4, F4, F4#, G4, A4, B4, C5, D5, E5, F5, G5, A5, B5, C6, D6, and E6; A3, A3#, B3, C4, D4, E4, F4, G4, A4, A4#, C5, D5, E5, F5, G5, and A5; and E3, F3, F3#, G3, A3, B3, C4, D4, E4, F4, G4, A4, B4, C5, and D5, respectively. The keys F4#, B3, and F3# appear in the first octave only from strings 1, 2, and 3, respectively. In this study, the sound was analyzed with a PicoScope oscilloscope and Adobe Audition. The equation for the polynomial (i.e., the fret number versus the partial frequency) for open strings 1, 2, and 3 is ystring1 = 3.14x2 + 9.10x + 316.07, ystring2 = 2.15x2 + 5.51x + 214.55, and ystring3 = 1.51x2 + 6.53x + 146.24. The changes in frequency (the multiplication factor of the x2) increased gradually with the pitch. Strings 3 (E3), 2 (A3), and 1 (E4) showed the multiplication factor of 1.51, 2.15, and 3.14

    Implications of fit customization in the apparel industry: an analytical study

    Purpose Numerous studies have examined technologies and influencing factors related to garment fit to enhance the implementation of fit customization (FC). Nevertheless, achieving optimal fit remains a complex challenge within the apparel industry. This study aims to explore how advanced technologies are used in the implementation of FC in apparel industry, and to identify the key factors influencing fit from the perspective of clothing industry professionals, with the aim of improving customization practices. Design/methodology/approach The current state of FC implementation in Chinese apparel industry is examined through case studies, while in-depth interviews are conducted to explore the factors influencing fit. The collected data are analyzed using qualitative methods. Findings Significant progress has been made in the cutting, stitching and storage stages due to the increasing adoption of intelligent technologies. However, the degree of technological integration in body scanning, pattern-making and fitting varies across companies. Pattern design plays a critical role in determining garment fit. Originality/value It highlights the critical role of body measurements and pattern-making processes in achieving fit. To enhance the implementation of FC, future research directions are proposed.
