    Tren jenayah harta benda di Malaysia masih membimbangkan walaupun menunjukkan penurunan kes. Kes curi motosikal adalah penyumbang utama kepada jenayah indeks di Malaysia, diikuti lain-lain kes curi dan ketiga tertinggi adalah kes curi kereta. Justeru, Artikel ini bertujuan meneliti tren jenayah harta benda di Kuala Lumpur dan Selangor mengikut daerah dan juga balai polis bagi tempoh 2015-2020. Data diperoleh daripada PDRM Bukit Aman dalam bentuk excel. Data terdiri daripada tiga seksyen iaitu seksyen 379 Kanun keseksaan (curi), manakala seksyen 379A Kanun keseksaan (curi motosikal, kereta, lori, van dan jentera berat) serta seksyen 457 Kanun keseksaan (kes pecah rumah siang dan malam). Kes jenayah harta benda d i Selangor adalah lebih tinggi berbanding di Kuala Lumpur. Daerah Petaling Jaya di bawah Kontinjen Selangor merekodkan kes tertinggi berlaku jenayah harta benda dalam tempoh 2015-2020. Selain itu daerah Sepang mencatat kes jenayah harta benda tertinggi dan Balai Polis Sentul (Kontingen Kuala Lumpur) merekodkan kes tertinggi berlaku kes jenayah harta benda. Kebanyakan kes jenayah harta benda di Selangor dan Kuala Lumpur menunjukkan penurunan pada tahun 2020 disebabkan sekatan aktiviti sosial dan Perintah Kawalan Pergerakan (PKP) yang membataskan pergerakan individu merentas sempadan berikutan Covid-19. Implikasi kajian ini dapat mendedahkan keberkesanan penguatkuasaan undang-undang sedia ada dan langkah pencegahan jenayah melalui perubahan trend.     Multi-scale aggregation network for colonoscopic polyp segmentation via frequency domain decoupling

    Automated segmentation of colorectal polyps is of great significance for early screening and clinical intervention of colorectal cancer. However, the diversity of polyp morphology and the uneven contrast caused by illumination changes in colonoscopy images make accurate segmentation and edge extraction of polyps a challenging task. To this end, this paper proposes a frequency domain decoupled multi-scale feature aggregation network (FDANet). The network employs wavelet transform to decompose spatial domain features into frequency domain sub-bands, extracting both low-frequency and high-frequency components. By leveraging their distinct frequency characteristics, the model is guided to suppress redundant information, emphasize target-relevant features, and achieve more robust and accurate segmentation results. In FDANet, the low-frequency attention enhancement module (LAEM) suppresses high-frequency background noise by performing Gaussian difference operations on low-frequency components and incorporates a hybrid attention mechanism to strengthen the feature representation of foreground regions. The high-frequency multi-scale aggregation module (HMAM) employs directional convolution kernels to model high-frequency components, extract fine-grained edge information, and construct a multi-scale feature pyramid to accommodate the morphological and scale diversity of polyps, while enhancing spatial detail awareness during the decoding stage. Additionally, an edge loss function is introduced to supervise the modeling of edge contours within this module, effectively suppressing background noise interference and further improving boundary localization accuracy. Experimental results show that this method achieves good segmentation results on CVC-ClinicDB and Kvasir-SEG datasets, outperforming other advanced segmentation methods

    The 10th World Congress of Herpetology was held 5–9 August 2024 in Kuching, the capital city of Sarawak State, in East Malaysia, on the island of Borneo. It was attended by 1485 delegates and other participants from 72 countries, making it one of the largest ever. A philatelic history of previous congresses is in Das and Dodd (2020), which listed stamps, postcards, first day covers and pictorial postmarks associated with the respective events. These serve as mementos of the Congresses and are part of the official documentation for posterity

    BLOCKCHAIN AND SMART CONTRACT-BASED DESIGN AND IMPLEMENTATION OF AUTOMATED AGRICULTURAL INSURANCE CLAIMS

    Smallholder farmers in developing regions face substantial climate-related risks, yet insurance uptake remains very low due to high costs, slow claim settlements, and lack of trust in insurers. This paper proposes a blockchain-based agricultural insurance platform that automates claim processing through smart contracts and trusted data oracles. The system is designed to deliver rapid, fair payouts triggered by real-time weather events, greatly reducing administrative overhead. We implemented and evaluated the platform against traditional manual insurance and a baseline blockchain solution. The results show an order-of-magnitude speedup in claim settlement (days to hours) and about 30–50% lower on-chain processing costs, while maintaining scalability and robust security. The solution’s transparency and efficiency are expected to increase smallholder farmers’ trust and participation in crop insurance programs. This work demonstrates that a carefully engineered blockchain smart contract system can overcome key barriers in agricultural insurance, offering a viable path to protect vulnerable farming communities against climate risks

    ChatGPT assists in identifying and recommending research study designs to support study protocol writing

    This study aimed to validate ChatGPT by identifying the types of study designs in the published scientific literature and recommending the types of research study designs. ChatGPT Version 3.5 was asked to classify the published literature into different study designs. ChatGPT answers were then compared to the blinded independent reviewers' findings. The ChatGPT was then used to provide recommendations for study designs with the research titles from 333 unpublished study protocols. A total of 463 articles were used for validation. The Kappa coefficient was 84.45% agreement for the published literature. The agreement between ChatGPT and reviewers based on whole study protocol was 56.2%. ChatGPT may assist in classifying the types of study design with reasonably good accuracy if an abstract or full text is provided. ChatGPT may also be useful in recommending study designs to a novice researcher but with oversight from experts

    Effects of anti-rainbow trout germ-cell monoclonal antibody on germ cells and gonadal tissues in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss)

    The development of sterilization technology is important to improve the production efficacy of aquaculture and prevent genetically modified fish from escaping. Immunosterilization is a novel sterilization method that has already been used in mammals. In this study, anti-rainbow trout germ-cell monoclonal antibodies (anti-GC mAbs) were injected into immature rainbow trout Oncorhynchus mykiss, and their effects were analyzed. First, anti-GC mAbs labeled with Alexa Fluor 488 were injected into the body cavity of larvae 20 days (group 1) and 102 days (group 2) after fertilization. Second, anti-GC mAbs were injected into the body cavity of yearling trout (group 3), and their impacts on gonadal tissue were analyzed in terms of histology and gene expression levels. As a result, anti-GC mAbs were observed to bind to some primordial GCs in group 1, whereas there were no obvious positive cells in male testes of group 2. In contrast, green fluorescent signals were observed in an arrangement parallel to the ovarian lamina in female ovaries of group 2, which was similar to the arrangement of positive signals on ovarian tissue sections immunostained with anti-GC mAbs. GCs in group 1 were observed again after 76 days, and double-positive cells remained. In group 3, there were changes in the expression levels of GC-specific genes, but the changes were not seen as biologically meaningful. Moreover, there was no histological abnormality in gonadal tissues after immunization. In conclusion, these results suggested that anti-GC mAbs could only reach GCs in early developmental stages or in the ovary, and injection of anti-GCs mAbs did not have harmful effects on GCs after binding

    The role of activity restrictions on financial intermediation costs in ASEAN countries

    Purpose – The purpose of this study is to examine the role of activity restrictions on the financial intermediation costs in ASEAN countries. Design/methodology/approach – This study used the two-step system generalized method of moments approach to tackle the endogeneity problems. The sample consists of 130 banks from ASEAN countries covering the over 2009–2022 period. Findings – This study provides valuable insights into various dimensions of activity restrictions within the banking across ASEAN countries. The findings highlight that imposing restrictions on activities such as securities, insurance and real estate can significantly elevate intermediation costs, affecting the overall efficiency of the banking sector. Furthermore, restrictions on ownership lead to higher intermediation costs by limiting operational flexibility, thereby constraining banks’ ability to optimize their financial services. Research limitations/implications – The sample of this study is limited to banks in ASEAN countries and focuses only on the regulations restricting banking activities. Practical implications – The findings suggest that policymakers should conduct a comprehensive review and potential adjustment of the existing regulatory framework related to restrictions on banking activities to strike an optimal balance between risk mitigation and fostering an environment that enhances banks’ efficiency. In addition, regulators could consider introducing regulatory reforms to ownership-related restrictions to promote greater flexibility and adaptability in the banking sector. Originality/value – This research contributes to the field of banking by offering valuable insights for policymakers and regulators in ASEAN countries. It provides empirical evidence on the impact of activity restrictions on financial intermediation costs, highlighting key factors for developing more effective regulatory strategies
