A Study on Sheep Farming Management to Produce High Quality Sheep in Kuching, Sarawak
Global population growth and economic development have an
impact on agricultural sectors. If the human population continues to grow at its current rate, there will be a food shortage issue, which must be addressed, particularly in developing countries. The food supply maintenance is crucial to avoid poverty, which might have an impact on overall economic development. To prevent this hurdle from happening, achieving agricultural growth is crucial. One of the most in-demand agricultural products is livestock and it is the fastest growing industry in many countries. Livestock usually includes cattle, goats, chickens and sheep

Cascading Gamification Learning Model for Awareness Program: A Case Study of Online Safety Awareness Among Children
This paper investigates innovative strategies for nurturing global citizenship skills among students with special needs in Oman. Recognizing the critical importance of equipping these students with essential 21st-century competencies such as critical thinking, creativity, communication, and
collaboration, the study delves into practical methods that ensure their active participation in a rapidly evolving world. By integrating Universal Design for Learning (UDL), assistive technologies, and project-based learning (PBL), educators can create inclusive environments that cater to the diverse needs of students. These methods not only address individual learning barriers but also promote
engagement and empowerment, enabling students to tackle real-world challenges collaboratively.
Aligned with Oman’s Vision 2040, this framework underscores the importance of inclusive education as a national priority. The paper examines successful case studies, such as collaborative environmental projects and cultural preservation through technology, showcasing how these
approaches bridge gaps and foster global citizenship skills. Challenges like resource limitations and cultural stigmas are also addressed, with proposed solutions emphasizing policy advocacy, professional development, and community engagement. Ultimately, this study illustrates how
inclusive practices can transform special needs education in Oman, equipping students with the tools to contribute meaningfully to their communities and the global stage
Ultra-High Strength Geopolymer Concrete from Industrial Waste: Reducing Anhydrous Sodium Silicate and Steel Fiber Effects
This study investigates the development of ultra-high strength geopolymer concrete (UHSGC) through optimized precursor and activator formulations targeting both mechanical performance and sustainability. Eight mix groups were designed by reducing anhydrous sodium silicate (ASS) and incorporating fly ash, slag, silica fume, and liquid sodium silicate (LSS), with or without steel fiber reinforcement. Mechanical properties, pore structure, permeability, and environmental impacts were assessed following ASTM standards and life cycle assessment metrics. Steel fibers enhanced compressive strength to 172.1 MPa but at significant environmental costs (+ 369% EE, + 223% CO₂, + 158% cost). Silica fume (155.8–163.8 MPa) and slag (up to 168.2 MPa) improved strength with minimal trade-offs, while fly ash, water, and superplasticizer reduced strength (143.2–146.5 MPa). Partial substitution of ASS with LSS improved strength (159.5–166.4 MPa) and porosity, whereas full LSS replacement reached 170.4 MPa with the lowest porosity (9.2%) but moderately higher impacts (+ 16% EE, + 11% CO₂, + 13% cost). These findings demonstrate that slag and partial LSS substitution offer the most efficient balance between performance and sustainability, while full LSS replacement provides superior strength and durability at
acceptable environmental trade-offs
Representation of the Citizen-initiated White Flag movement in Malaysian newspapers
This study analysed Malaysian English and Malay newspaper coverage of the citizen-led White Flag (WF) movement using the Discourse Historical Approach. The movement involved people in need hanging a white cloth to request community aid. Analysis of 87 articles in 10 newspapers published in June July 2021 showed that Malays were most frequently portrayed as needing help, followed by Chinese, Indians,
Indigenous people and foreigners. Malay newspapers tended to depict more female recipients and male helpers compared to English newspapers. Across all newspapers, aid was mostly attributed to politicians, government agencies and individuals, and recipients were commonly framed as grateful but distressed rather than exploitative. Most articles legitimised WF as a timely citizen response, while a few highlighted abuse of aid. Minor counter-arguments questioned faith, government capability or personal resilience. Helper perspectives dominated over the voices of those in need. Newspapers used direct speech to personalise suffering and
indirect speech to generalise collective responsibility. Modal verbs expressing mitigation and intensification
appeared in almost equal measure, with Malay articles stressing duty while English reports conveyed contingency. The findings show how newspapers framed need, aid and responsibility through ethnic, gendered and moral lenses
Language anxiety symptoms, self-efficacy and willingness to communicate among Malaysian university students
Oral communication anxiety is a persistent challenge for university students, especially in multilingual settings where English is not the primary language. This study examined the relationships between communication apprehension symptoms, self-efficacy, and language
anxiety among Malaysian undergraduates, using Imagined Interaction Theory as a theoretical framework. A total of 358 students from a public university in Sarawak completed a
questionnaire, and the data were analysed using SmartPLS structural equation modelling.
Descriptive findings revealed elevated levels of language anxiety (M = 3.88, SD = 1.25) and cognitive distress (M = 3.71, SD = 1.28) among respondents. The results indicated that cognitive (β = 0.266, p = 0.001) and physical symptoms (β = –0.137, p = 0.054) significantly predicted higher language anxiety and lower self-efficacy (cognitive: β = 0.186, p = 0.006; physical: β = 0.31, p = 0.000). However, behavioural symptoms showed no significant impact
on self-efficacy (β = 0.015, p = 0.786). Self-efficacy did not mediate the effect of anxiety symptoms on language anxiety (p > 0.1 for all paths), but willingness to communicate in English significantly moderated the relationship between self-efficacy and language anxiety (β
= –0.084, p = 0.073). These findings suggest that internal cognitive-affective experiences are more influential than outward behaviours in shaping communicative confidence. The study highlights the need for targeted pedagogical strategies, including mental rehearsal and cognitive-behavioural techniques, to support students in managing communication anxiety. Implications are particularly relevant for multilingual educational contexts aiming to enhance students’ English oral communication competence
FINANCIAL LITERACY AND FINTECH ADOPTION AMONG UNIMAS STUDENTS
This study investigates the relationship between financial literacy and fintech adoption among students at Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (UNIMAS). This study uses a structured questionnaire for 152 respondents. Both descriptive and regression analysis are used in this study. The regression results show that demographic factors are not significant influencing fintech adoption among UNIMAS students. On the other hand, financial knowledge, perceived usefulness and digital literacy are significant. The implications of this research extend beyond academia, holding significant relevance for policymakers and financial service providers
Business resilience during crises: a comparative study between PN17 and 50 FTSE Bursa Malaysia KLCI constituent companies
This was an event study that employed a non-parametric analysis using STATA. Data from 50 companies listed under Bursa Malaysia (BM), which consist of 21 companies classified under PN17 and 36 companies from the constituents top 50 FTSE at BM, were collected for five years (2018-2022). Using the Altman Z-Score, PN17 and T50FTSE companies were clustered under safe, grey, and distress zones. Besides, the study also aimed to examine the roles of a robust risk management system in managing a crisis among PN17 and the top 50 FTSE companies. The survey results revealed the significance of having an integrated and unified risk management for every company to ensure business continuity and resist crises. The study exposed the likelihood of managers manipulating the earnings figure during the pandemic and the significant positive relationship between the Operational Resiliency Framework (ORF) and Altman’s Z-Score. A less robust risk management system makes a corporation more likely to fall into the distress zone category
Sasterawan Negara Rahman Shaari.
