Estimating Forest Aboveground Biomass Density Using Remote Sensing and Machine Learning : A RSME Approach
An accurate estimation of aboveground biomass (AGB) density is essential for effective forest management, carbon stock monitoring, and informed land management decisions. This study employs remote sensing datasets and collaborative efforts with ArcGIS to model AGB density across the Terengganu region. Integrated with the random forest algorithm in the Google Earth Engine for AGB density modeling at a spatial resolution of 1 km, the methodology incorporates GEDI Level 4, Sentinel-1 radar, Sentinel-2 optical imagery, and elevation/slope maps. The validation results indicated a root mean square error (RMSE) of 51.35 t per hectare and an average training error of 31.82 t per hectare, demonstrating the model's accuracy and reliability. The model's strong predictive performance (R2 = 0.77) implies that the independent variables accounted for 77% of the variability in the AGB. With a standard deviation of 64.52 t per hectare, the average AGB in the Terengganu area was 90.94 t per hectare, with AGB values ranging widely from 16.89 to 206.99 t per hectare across the region. These findings highlight the potential of integrating multiple remote sensing data sources for comprehensive AGB density mapping, thereby enhancing the monitoring of forest carbon stocks and fostering informed management approaches. This study underscores the importance of open-access data and cloud-based technologies, thereby supporting the availability of tools to implement comparable projects. This research illustrates the significance of combining different datasets and machine learning techniques for the remote assessment of forest biomass, thereby facilitating the improved modeling of ecosystem characteristics and sustainability initiatives. By emphasizing the need for advanced technologies and collaborative strategies, this study enhances forest biomass assessments and supports informed environmental management practices

ABSTRACT
The Secondary School Standard Curriculum (Kurikulum Standard Sekolah Menengah or KSSM) incorporates elements of language arts by retaining literary works in the learning syllabus. This is because language arts, or KOMSAS, serves as a tool to instill positive attitudes in students. The positive
traits found in novels can serve as lessons for students. This study aims to analyze attitudes and human values in the events depicted in language arts novels that students can emulate. The research is conducted using a qualitative method with a full document analysis approach. The researcher employs the Relevance Theory (Sperber & Wilson, 1986) as the theoretical framework. The data for this study
are derived from the novel "Di Sebalik Dinara" by Dayang Noor (2014). To validate the moral value present in this novel, the researcher analyzes the expressions of the character Marilyn based on phrases such as "hugging her daughter," "love you," "don't want to lose you," and "warm kiss." Through theuse of Relevance Theory (RT) and Cross-reference Framwork (CRF) analysis, it can be proven that
Marilyn's characterization is that of a mother who deeply loves and misses her long-lost child. Lexical choices like "hugging" and phrases like "don't want to lose you again" and "love you" can have an existing cognitive impact on students. Based on the implicature generated, students can understand the positive attitudes and human values the author intends to convey through the expressions used. The
study finds that the expressions in each event in the novel can evoke various assumptions and cognitive effects on students. The results of the study illustrate the presence of positive attitudes and human values in "Mummy," namely the value of affection. The positive attitude and human value of a mother's affection for her child can serve as an example for students, as affection is crucial in family
relationships.

Magnetic bead catalyst for photocatalytic phenol degradation in wastewater
Modern advances in semiconductor photocatalysis, particularly increased turnover on degradation of phenolic compounds from industrial wastewater. Phenolic compound is a major environmental threat considering their hazardous effects and recalcitrance. This study focused on the development of high efficiency magnetic bead catalyst with photocatalysis technology as a solution to phenolic compound obstacles in industrial wastewater. The magnetic bead catalyst underwent bead casting process by encapsulating a polymer matrix of sodium alginate and crosslinking it with epichlorohydrin, which enhancing its hydrophilicity, durability, rigidity, selectivity, permeability, and longevity, thereby achieving superior photocatalytic performance. Characterisation techniques including Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy (FTIR) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) were employed to analyse the structural and chemical properties of these catalyst. The photocatalytic efficiency of the magnetic bead catalyst for the degradation of phenol was assessed when subjected to visible light. A comprehensive study was conducted exploring the effects of pH, catalyst dosage, and initial phenol concentration on effectiveness of degradation. The optimal conditions for the Fe-beads catalyst were achieved at pH 5, with a dosage of 6.0 g L−1 and an initial phenol concentration of 20 mg L−1, resulting in a phenol photodegradation efficiency of 87.29%. These magnetic bead catalyst implementations for wastewater recovery were cost-effective, quick to implement, eco-friendly, and regenerable. In short, synthesising magnetic bead catalyst might pose an innovative approach towards challenges with wastewater treatment

Effect of Worn Top Compression Ring and Lubricant Degradation Towards Engine In-Cylinder Frictional Losses
Friction occurs in the internal combustion
engine especially at the interface between
piston ring and cylinder liner. This causes an
increase in fuel consumption required to
overcome these frictional losses. Piston ringcylinder interface is one of the primary sources.
This study is imperative to understand the
effects of lubrication degradation and worn top
compression ring towards engine frictional
losses. A mathematical model with the
integration of 1-D Reynold’s equation is derived
to investigate the lubrication film and pressure
generation. This study further incorporates
velocity, surface roughness, combustion
pressure, lubrication degradation and presence
of worn top compression ring to demonstrate
the frictional losses. It was found that
lubrication degradation significantly affects the
lubrication film formation, impacting friction at
the piston ring-cylinder liner interface.
Increased lubricant viscosity increases viscous
friction while reducing boundary friction.
Similarly, a worn top compression ring leads to
higher viscous friction due to a thicker film and
larger load-bearing area, decreasing boundary
friction. It is concluded that both lubrication
degradation and worn top compression rings
have detrimental effects on frictional power

Rice microRNA1439 coordinates disease resistance and growth, represses the expression of OsRFPH2-6 and OsFLO2
Rice microRNA1439 (miR1439) belongs to a conserved miRNA family and its expression is induced by various biotic and abiotic stresses. However, whether and how miR1439 is involved in disease resistance in rice is unclear. In this study, we found that the expression of miR1439 was significantly upregulated upon Magnaporthe oryzae infection. Overexpressing miR1439 leads an enhanced disease resistance against M. oryzae, whereas blocking the function of miR1439 by overexpressing a target mimic resulted in increased disease susceptibility. Further investigation revealed that miR1439 directly targets and represses the expression of RING-H2 finger protein with potential E3 ligase activity (OsRFPH2-6), a negative regulator of disease resistance. Interestingly, transgenic lines blocking miR1439 exhibited increased grain length and grain weight, while overexpressing miR1439 leads a decreased grain length and grain weight, possibly due to the repression of FLOURY ENDOSPERM2 (OsFLO2), a target gene of miR1439. Thus, our findings highlight the pivotal role of miR1439 in mediating disease resistance and grain development in rice and provide a potential target for breeding resistant cultivars without yield penalty
