    Individuals’ behavioral intention to use car sharing (CS): from environmental consciousness to socio-psychological drivers

    Purpose – By scrutinizing different types of factors conducive to the behavioral intention to use car sharing (CS), the present paper looked into the influences of the environmental consciousness (i.e. environmental angle), the continuous improvement of CS platforms (i.e. technological angle), smart mobility (i.e. infrastructure angle) and the perceived benefits of CS and electronic trust in CS (i.e. individual and psychological angles). Design/methodology/approach – On purpose to provide an integrative outlook, a questionnaire-based survey with over 400 subjects coming from young generations (i.e. Gen Y and Z) has been conducted in 2023. The collected data were processed and analyzed by means of a partial least squares structural equation modeling (PLS-SEM) technique (PLS-SEM) by employing SmartPLS 4. Findings – The analysis allows for multiple results. Environmental consciousness, continuous improvement of CS platforms and smart mobility have a positive influence on the perceived benefits of CS. The relationship between the continuous improvement of CS platforms and the E-trust in CS and the relationship between the impact of E-trust in CS and the behavioral intention to use CS are positive. Perceived benefits of CS have a positive influence on the behavioral intention to use CS. Originality/value – On the one hand, in terms of theoretical implications, the paper integrates multiple factors in a common framework, simultaneously considering social, psychological, technological and environmental dimensions in addressing the behavioral intention to use CS. On the other hand, the study entails practical implications and implicit takeaways for CS platform companies, which can inform business practitioners and transportation planners

    Effect of Indocyanine Green-Guided Lymphadenectomy During Gastrectomy on Survival: Individual Patient Data Meta-Analysis

    Background: Indocyanine green-guided (ICG-guided) lymphadenectomy during gastrectomy for cancer has been proposed to enhance the accuracy of lymphadenectomy. The impact of ICG-guided lymphadenectomy on patient survival remains debated. Methods: The findings of the systematic review were reconstructed into an individual patient data (IDP) meta-analysis with restricted mean survival time difference (RMSTD). Overall survival (OS) and disease-free (DFS) survival were primary outcomes. RMSTD, standardized mead difference (SMD), and 95% confidence intervals (CI) were used as pooled effect size measures. Results: Three studies (6325 patients) were included; 42% of patients underwent ICG-guided lymphadenectomy. The patients’ age ranged from 47 to 72 years and 58% were males. Proximal, distal, and total gastrectomy were completed in 6.8%, 80.4%, and 12.8% of patients, respectively. The surgical approach was laparoscopic (62.3%) and robotic (37.7%). ICG-guided lymphadenectomy was associated with a higher number of harvested lymph nodes compared to non-ICG-guided lymphadenectomy (SMD 0.50; 95% CI 0.45–0.55). At the 42-month follow-up, OS and DFS estimates for ICG-guided vs. non-ICG-guided lymphadenectomy were 0.5 months (95% CI −0.01, 1.1) and 1.3 months (95% CI 0.39, 2.15), respectively. Conclusions: Our analysis suggests that ICG-guided lymphadenectomy offers equivalent long-term OS and DFS compared to non-ICG-guided lymphadenectomy

    Diminishing warming effects on plant phenology over time

    Plant phenology, the timing of recurrent biological events, shows key and complex response to climate warming, with consequences for ecosystem functions and services. A key challenge for predicting plant phenology under future climates is to determine whether the phenological changes will persist with more intensive and long-term warming. Here, we conducted a meta-analysis of 103 experimental warming studies around the globe to investigate the responses of four phenophases - leaf-out, first flowering, last flowering, and leaf coloring. We showed that warming advanced leaf-out and flowering but delayed leaf coloring across herbaceous and woody plants. As the magnitude of warming increased, the response of most plant phenophases gradually leveled off for herbaceous plants, while phenology responded in proportion to warming in woody plants. We also found that the experimental effects of warming on plant phenology diminished over time across all phenophases. Specifically, the rate of changes in first flowering for herbaceous species, as well as leaf-out and leaf coloring for woody species, decreased as the experimental duration extended. Together, these results suggest that the real-world impact of global warming on plant phenology will diminish over time as temperatures continue to increase

    Age- and sex-dependency of thrombin generation parameters in the general Italian population: the Moli-sani study

    Background Recent developments have made the thrombin generation (TG) test accessible to the clinical laboratory. Therefore, the clinical interpretation of TG parameters has become of increasing interest, and reference values are required. Age and sex have been shown to affect TG parameters, but no consensus has been reached on the subject. We investigated the effect of age and sex on TG parameters to determine the need for age and sex specific reference values for TG. Methods TG was measured in 22,014 individuals of the Moli-sani study, a cross-sectional cohort of the general adult Italian population. TG was measured using Calibrated Automated Thrombinography in platelet poor plasma (PPP) using PPP reagent Low and PPP reagent, in the presence and absence of thrombomodulin (TM). Results Individuals were grouped into 6 age categories: 35-44 years of age (n = 5,073), 45-54 (n = 6,448), 55-64 (n = 5,516), 65-74 (n = 3,539), 75-84 (n = 1,261), and 85 years of age and older (n = 106). Men and women were distributed evenly in the age categories. Smoking was more common at younger age, whereas cardiovascular diseases, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, and diabetes were more common at older age (p < 0.001). Lag time and velocity index increased with age, whereas the endogenous thrombin potential (ETP) and time-to-peak decreased. The inhibitory effect of TM was reduced at higher age (p < 0.001). The TG lag time was shorter in women than men at younger age (6%-7% lower in women), and the ETP was lower in women. The activated protein C (APC) pathway was desensitized in women and older individuals. Conclusion The TG profile becomes more "procoagulant" at older age, especially in women. The sensitivity of the APC pathway to TM is reduced with increasing age in men and women. Therefore, age and sex appropriate reference values for TG parameters would be of interest for the ongoing clinical implementation of the TG assay

    Background/Objectives: To evaluate dual-energy computed tomography (DECT) in comparison with conventional CT for periprosthetic bone and surrounding soft tissues in total hip arthroplasty (THA). Methods: Two authors independently screened titles and abstracts for eligibility, discussing any disagreements with a third author for final decisions. The articles were categorized into two main groups: those focusing on periprosthetic bone and those on blood vessels or pelvic organs. Results: A total of 37 articles were selected to be included in this systematic review. Conclusions: Our systematic review reveals significant variability in the use of DECT for periprosthetic bone and soft tissue imaging, due to differences in equipment, protocols, and clinical settings. While many studies indicate that virtual monochromatic imaging (VMI), especially when combined with metal artifact reduction (MAR), improves image quality, there is no consensus on optimal energy levels. Future research should focus on large-scale, multicenter studies with standardized protocols to compare reconstruction techniques, energy levels, and combined MAR-VMI use

    Predictive value of TG/HDL-C and GFR-adjusted uric acid levels on cardiovascular mortality: the URRAH study

    BackgroundInsulin resistance (IR) and serum uric acid (SUA) are closely interconnected: SUA contributes to adversely affects the insulin signaling pathway and contributes to IR, while IR is a known predictor for the development of hyperuricemia. The triglyceride (TG) to high-density lipoprotein cholesterol (HDL-C) ratio has been proposed as an easily obtainable marker for IR. This research aimed to investigate the interaction between IR and glomerular filtration rate (GFR)-adjusted uricemia (SUA/GFR ratio) in determining CV risk in a large population cohort study.MethodsData from 18,694 subjects were analyzed from Uric acid Right foR heArt Healt (URRAH) database. The study evaluated the association between TG/HDL-C ratio and SUA/GFR ratio, as well as their impact on the development of outcomes during the follow-up study period. The primary endpoint was CV mortality.ResultsAfter a mean follow-up of 124 +/- 64 months, 2,665 (14.2%) CV deaths occurred. The incidence of fatal and non-fatal CV events increased in parallel with the increase of TG/HDL-C quintiles. TG/HDL-C ratio showed a positive association with increasing of SUA/GFR ratio, even in non-diabetic patients. Multivariate analysis showed that the TG/HDL-C ratio increases the mortality risk even after adjustment for potential confounding factors. Finally, IR and GFR-adjusted hyperuricemia showed an additive effect on CV mortality.ConclusionsBoth IR and SUA/GFR ratio independently predict CV mortality, regardless of age, gender, BMI, diabetes, hypertension and statin use. The joint effect of the TG/HDL-C ratio and the elevated SUA/GFR ratio was greater than the presence of each single risk factor on CV mortality. This highlights the importance of monitoring these markers to better assess cardiovascular risk

    Beyond the Imposter: Deciphering Capgras Syndrome and Multidisciplinary Management

    Capgras syndrome (CS) presents a unique diagnostic and management challenge, particularly when associated with neurodegenerative conditions. This case report describes a 73-year-old female diagnosed with Lewy body dementia (LBD) who developed CS, manifesting as the delusional belief that her deceased husband had been replaced by an imposter. The clinical presentation was complex, including pronounced sleep disturbances, cognitive decline, behavioral anomalies, and visual hallucinations, necessitating a thorough differential diagnosis process. We detail the patient’s history, clinical findings, and the investigations undertaken, including brain imaging and cognitive assessments. The management approach involved a personalized treatment plan integrating Lithium sulfate, Citalopram, and Lurasidone, alongside psychosocial interventions. While a partial improvement was observed, the case underscores the complexities of managing CS in the context of LBD, highlighting the need for tailored and multidisciplinary approaches to care. This case contributes to the limited literature on CS in LBD and provides practical insights for clinicians managing similar presentations

    O ordenamento jurídico italiano, que em princípio não atribui à jurisprudência valor de fonte do direito, conhece, todavia, hipóteses isoladas de institutos de pura criação jurisprudencial, como a abnormità e a inexistência do ato processual. Na origem dessas figuras está a exigência jusnaturalista de sacrificar a letra da lei a fim de retirar do sistema decisões macroscopicamente ilegais. As mesmas finalidades justificaram a formulação, por obra da jurisprudência dos Estados Unidos, da chamada plain error rule que permite excepcionalmente ao juiz da impugnação identificar vícios não deduzidos anteriormente. As linhas de desenvolvimento das hipóteses italianas de case law parecem paralelas àquelas próprias dos países de common law,com particular referência à tendencial aplicação tanto da regra stare decisis quanto da técnica do distinguishing
