Burnout in primary school teachers; the impact of occupational stress, social support and physical activity
This study sought to further research into levels of burnout in primary school teachers in Ireland as well as to explore the relationship between burnout and the following variables; teachers’ occupational stress, social support, physical activity, age and years of service. Quantitative correlational research was carried out with a total of one hundred and three participants (N=103), who took part in an anonymous online questionnaire. Results indicated a significant relationship between curricular and extra-curricular stress, classroom management stress and burnout. Higher levels of physical activity significantly predicted lower levels of burnout. Social support did not have a role in reducing burnout. Older teachers had significantly less burnout. There was not a significant relationship between burnout and years of service. The findings highlight the specific teachers’ stressors which contribute to burnout and the protective factor physical activity has in relation to burnout. These findings correlate with previous research in this area
The impacts of the new revenue recognition guidance on software and SaaS industry
This thesis examines the various impacts of the new revenue recognition accounting standard on software and SaaS companies. It begins by explaining why the FASB and IASB updated the existing revenue recognition standard and then compares and contrasts the legacy US GAAP to the IFRS standard. It then moves into a detailed analysis of the key changes affecting the software and SaaS industry. Additionally, it examines the major interpretational areas within IFRS 15. Also, it addresses the major impact on Software and SaaS’s entities’ financial statements and therefore their profitability and performance. Finally, it concludes with a discussion of investor considerations and how the standard has impact users of the financial statements. While there is abundant knowledge of the accounting change within the accounting industry, there is less knowledge and almost no quantitative information for the public after IFRS 15 implementation, which based on the various changes detailed, will result in a surprising material
Keep that tweet
My project was the development of an Android application built with the Java programming language. The projected makes use of available twitter APIs to authenticate with a live twitter account and retrieve tweets from live twitter users. Selected tweets are then stored to a database for later viewing.
The application is intended to aid a user in retrieving tweets that they find interesting and that they would like to keep for future reference. How often does something of interest come up in conversation where you find yourself wishing you had remembered the users twitter handle or favourited the tweet to prove your point. My app will allow the user to save tweets with a search term like ‘Comedy’. The user now only needs to remember their search term and all the Tweets tagged with keyword ‘Comedy’ will be returned. The user can then quickly selected the required tweet
Real time social distancing violation detection using SVM classifier and deep neural network learning techniques
Whenever world is hit by any pandemic, it creates immediate global health crises due its deadly spread. Social Distancing is the key measure to control the spread of any pandemic in absence of immediate pharmaceutical inventions. Motivated by current world situation due to COVID-19, the research proposes real time detection framework for monitoring social distancing in public areas for current and any future situations. The detection framework is developed using Support Vector Classifier (SVM) with Histogram of Gradient (HOG) and pre-trained neural network models. The result of two models is compared in terms of dimensions of detection box area. The pre-trained neural network model trained using transfer learning is observed to provide better detection results. It is used to feed on real time video to compute the pairwise centroid distance of the features in three dimensional spaces using tensor flow package. The social distancing violation term is proposed to run the experimental analysis and displays the top view of the detection to give real-time view for security surveillance representing the colour change depicting alerts
Motherhood and loss – an explorative study
This paper will seek to explore how a psychoanalytic understanding of motherhood and loss can inform our response to women experiencing infertility. The first objective is to examine the understanding of motherhood in the psychoanalytic environment. The focus will be on Freud’s lecture on Femininity (1933) and it will explore penis envy and the oedipal complex. Freud’s paper Mourning and Melancholia (1917) will be explored to introduce the topic of loss. The paper is grounded in psychoanalytic theory of motherhood and loss. The term mother is subjective. This study will be based on infertile women who cannot biologically have a baby
Impact of e-procurement in the construction industry SMEs of Ireland
The purpose of this research was to investigate and analyse the impact of e-procurement on
project performance of construction SMEs in Ireland. This research has carried out primary
research and quantitative research has been carried out from the project managers working
different construction SMEs in Ireland. The sampling criteria used to identify the research
participants was non-probability sampling. The total number of respondents who participated
in the research 50. Due to time constraint and accessibility issues, not more respondents could
be included in the research. SPSS has been used to analyse the statistical data. The results from
primary data findings showed positive impact of different factors influencing the adoption of
e-procurement in construction Industry of Ireland. The Literature review as well as primary
data findings showed the impact of new technological implementation on the supply chain
processes within construction industry. Additionally, it was noticed from a research study that
in order to gain competitive advantage in the industry, most of the businesses are transforming
their sourcing and procurement practices through electronic procurement that allow them to
achieve operational efficiency, better accountability, convenience, and cost reduction
Detection and segmentation of deepfake face images generated by GANs using segmented based CNN
The AI-based Generative adversarial networks or the GANs can generate hyper-realistic image using the random noise of low dimension. This led to the emergence of the term DeepFake which not only includes forged images but doctored videos and audios. The generated fake images with inappropriate content propagated through social networks and social media can have adverse effect on the society, politics, and economy. Thus, to effectively mitigate the DeepFake issues, there is a pressing need for an advanced deep learning-based detector. Detection of GAN generated fake images is a challenge for the conventional detection techniques as the images are reconstructed from manipulation of the source image. However, recent studies have revealed that CNN based detection architectures like VGG16, InceptionV3 and others have often showed high accuracy in classification tasks. This paper proposes a CNN based architecture, the Segment-based model to perform the classification between real and fake images generated using GANs. The DCGAN, DRAGAN, LSGAN and WGAN are used to generate the fake images. The Segment-based model is a novel method of segmenting the images in four quadrants followed by localization of fake features. The proposed architecture is compared with the pre-trained VGG16 and InceptionV3 through the evaluation matrices Classification accuracy and AUC. The Segment-based model is in parity with the popularly used VGG16 and InceptionV3
An exploration of the impact of countertransference on psychotherapeutic process with terminally ill clients
When working with a dying client, the therapist’s role is to meet the client’s emotional needs. To be able to achieve that, the therapist must possess a ‘death competence’. Being able to manage countertransference that arises during work with terminally ill clients is an essential element of this competence. According to research, this type of countertransference is linked to death anxiety and can be further intensified by additional factors. According to research, countertransference may pose a risk and an obstacle in the therapeutic process, as well as enhance it and aid it towards the resolution. The aim of this study is to further explore the impact of countertransference on psychotherapy with terminally ill clients. The study analyses the forms in which countertransference arises during psychotherapy with dying clients in the context of death anxiety and identifies the factors that impact this countertransference. It explores how countertransference may become an obstacle and how it can be used as a tool in work with terminally ill clients
Legacy of Conflict Trauma Among Israel and Northern Ireland Adults, Coping Mechanisms and Self Endurance
The aim of this qualitative research was to investigate post conflict trauma experienced by adult participants from Israel and Northern Ireland, exploration such as environmental comprehension, living through adulthood with post traumatic memories, self coping methods and assessing potential cultural differences emerging from the inductive approach. Methodology consisted of purposive sampling of 2 participants from Israel and 2 from N.Ireland. Design including post conflict mental trauma as the main criterion, semi-structured questions were used for these interviews. Materials and apparatus consisted of information sheets, consent forms, debrief sheets, interview schedule and recording equipment. The procedure looked over the interviews, meeting arrangements and Skype. High consideration was placed on ethics as vulnerable population was involved. Using thematic analysis final mapping consisted of 3 main themes with conclusions such as the urgency of additional mental health support in N.Ireland, adequate workplace support, holocaust offspring’s endurance and family/community functions
The relationship between work engagement, work motivation, organisational commitment, age and socio-economic status in target based jobs
The main goal of this study was to research the relationships between targets-based jobs, work motivation, organisational commitment, socio-economic status, age, and work engagement. A survey study, with regression-correlational design, was used to examine a sample of 45 people, who were recruited on Facebook, and completed the survey through the Survey Monkey Platform. The results from testing the first hypothesis showed that engagement is a significant predictor of work motivation in target-based jobs, explaining over half of the variability in work motivation. It was shown that employees’ level of motivation is independent from their emotional attachment to an organization. Analysis of continuous commitment showed that motivation is determined by the cost-benefit analysis between an employee and their organisation. Analysis of normative commitment showed that employees motivation proved not to be affected by their colleague’s attitudes or the reliability of the organisation. Socio-economic status proved to be an irrelevant factor when it came to examining motivation levels and extrinsic motivation did not decrease with age
