Enhancing Apple Product Review Sentiment Analysis using Machine Learning and Genetic Algorithm Optimization
Using cutting-edge machine learning techniques along with Genetic Algorithm (GA) for optimization, this research delivers a thorough study of sentiment analysis of customer evaluations for Apple items. Understanding consumer attitudes can be essential in guiding product improvements and marketing tactics given the enormous amount of user-generated data. The goal of this research is to create a precise and effective model that can automatically categorize customer evaluations as either favourable, negative, or neutral. The study initially goes through a lengthy preprocessing stage to purge and appropriately prepare the data. The next step is to train three well-known classification algorithms to identify if sentiment is positive, negative, or neutral. The sentiment classification was done based on the polarity score and star-based method These methods are Logistic Regression, Support Vector Classification (SVC), and Naive Bayes. The best-performing model is determined through a thorough assessment procedure, and it is then further optimized by Genetic Algorithm utilizing the Tree based Pipeline Optimization Tool (TPOT). AUC, F1-score, accuracy, precision, recall, and other performance indicators are used to carefully examine the optimization's result. The comparison of the classifiers in polarity score-based sentiment analysis and the star-based analysis was done and it was found that the star-based analysis gave maximum accuracy 0.93 for SVM classifier with genetic programming optimization using TPOT. The project's findings offer insightful information about how consumers feel about Apple products and show how successful a coordinated strategy combining conventional ML algorithms with GA optimization can be. The outcomes not only aid in understanding consumer preferences and impressions but also present a novel technique that is transferable to various fields and goods. Throughout the project, legal standards for site scraping are observed, maintaining ethical integrity. Therefore, the study has significant ramifications for Apple's relentless pursuit of product development and client pleasur
The effects of a meditation intervention on the perceived mindfulness, gratitude, and self-efficacy levels of gifted children
The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy of a four-week meditation intervention on the perceived mindfulness, gratitude, and self-efficacy levels of Irish gifted students. The research also aimed to examine the correlation between the concepts of mindfulness and gratitude, and mindfulness and self-efficacy. The study was experimental and longitudinal in nature. A within-groups, repeated measures design was used to examine mindfulness, gratitude, and self-efficacy scores of participants at three time-points across a six-week period. During this period, participants engaged in four weekly mediation sessions. Students’ perceived gratitude and self-efficacy increased significantly by the end of the intervention. Mindfulness scores were not significantly changed. No correlation was reported between mindfulness and gratitude, or mindfulness and self-efficacy. Meditation successfully improved gratitude and self-efficacy scores of the children. It should be considered by those concerned with the success and well-being of Irish gifted students as a useful, accessible tool
Successful collaboration in online learning through skills and community building: A women in leadership MBA subject applied research case study
Harasim’s Collaborativism and Garrison’s Community of Inquiry are underpinned by the notion that successful online peer-peer collaboration leads to deep learning and that online learners require scaffolded facilitator support to successfully collaborate. This support includes two actions: firstly, transitioning students from the roles of face-to-face learners to online learners so they know what to do and how to do it in a new learning environment and secondly, building a strong online community that sets the positive cognitive and behavioural building blocks that underpin successful collaboration. Collaborativism sees learners progressing through distinct discourse-focussed collaboration stages in order to achieve new, deep knowledge acquisition and Community of Inquiry proposes the convergence of Social Presence, Teaching Presence, and Cognitive Presence to achieve the same. Linking theory to practice, Salmon’s 5-stage model for online learning complements these frameworks by providing facilitators with a practical online learning model, with embedded learning activities, providing the tools to create a strong online learner community. These three theorists bring Social Constructivism to the online learning space.
MBA661 Gendered Workplace Environments v1, is an AQF-9, level 600 MBA subject within a Women in Leadership specialisation stream. It is used here in an illustrative case study on how to successfully apply these theories and aligned model to achieve online Social Constructivism. The educational philosophy used in its syllabus design and facilitation was to put community building activities before content teaching so that technology and collaboration skills were developed in a supportive, scaffolded manner, better equipping students to then engage in effective, collaborative content learning. This case study provides presumptive evidence that placing community building activities before content teaching within weekly lesson plans results in strong student collaboration skills development that may contribute to higher student satisfaction levels with collaborative learning. This active-learning presentation will allow participants to experience two of the applied research case study’s successful community building activities, enabling the participants to understand the theory and case study findings more intimately
Cognitive Bias in The Cockpit: A Deadly False Sense of Normality
The purpose of this study was to explore the role of cognitive bias in the flight deck of
commercial aircraft through historical aviation accident and incident reports, to establish the
most common types of biases and whether a set of pre-existing conditions in the flight deck
environment influence their presence during critical events. The role of cognitive biases in
aviation decision making is of growing interest and their impact is noted in this study as their
role in some of aviation’s biggest disasters and near misses in the past 15 years is revealed.
The research on cognitive bias applied to this setting is somewhat in its infancy, with little
research on what elements in the flight deck influence bias. A mixed methods approach was
adapted, and content analysis was applied to quantitively measure the qualitative data
contained in 25 official commercial aviation accident and incident reports in which cognitive
bias was mentioned in the report as having affected or influenced the crew. The Bowtie risk
analysis framework, which is a model to establish causal relationships in high-risk scenarios,
was adapted and provided structure to the data collection and analysis. Several
characteristics pertaining to the flight crew, the operation and the environment were collected
and analysed for each report, alongside the types of biases present and the outcome detailed
in the report. This study revealed that cognitive bias disproportionally involved more
accidents than incidents during conditions that tended to be more favourable than not. The
flight crew were experienced and disproportionately not suffering from fatigue, with the
captain occupying the pilot flying role more frequently. Certain biases were found to be more
present at different phases of flight and there was disproportionally no aircraft malfunction
during the events analysed. Cognitive bias also didn’t appear to discriminate between
daylight or darkness, good or poor weather conditions. This research provides valuable
insight into the impact of cognitive bias on flight safety and reveals some of the conditions
under which cognitive bias thrives in the environment of commercial aircraft. This study sets
the foundations for future research which should focus around developing supporting flight
crew with debiasing education and techniques to further improve the safety of the industry
Impact of stress and emotional regulation on eating behaviour and weight status in undergraduate students
The current study investigates the role of stress and emotional regulation strategies in eating behaviour and weight status across the undergraduate students' population. The research includes the use of the Emotional Eating Questionnaire, Disordered Eating Attitude Scale (DEAS), Perceived Stress Scale and Emotion Regulation Questionnaire. A quantitative quasi-experimental between-subjects design was used for data collection from 35 undergraduates. Non-probability sampling method was applied as only first and final year students were assisted through the Microsoft forms. The study indicated significant results concerning the difference in the disordered eating attitude of overweight and normal-weight students. The current work does not meet the study aim which is to determine a potential cohort of students whose weight and eating behaviour can be impacted by stress or emotions. Nevertheless, the study can be a base for future studies directions of which are stated in the discussion section
Increased alcohol consumption and changes of mental health in adults in Ireland during the covid-19 pandemic
The Covid-19 lockdown has been a difficult time for many. The aim of this study was to understand how alcohol consumption and mental health have changed in Ireland during the pandemic and were affected by gender and resilience. Participants (N = 150) were adults living in Ireland, who were recruited through snowball sampling for a quantitative, survey study. The Brief Resilience Scale and DASS21 were used as well as a general demographic questionnaire and a few alcohol consumption questions. The hypotheses regarding the increase in alcohol consumption showed no significant results. Neither was there a significant relationship on effects of resilience on alcohol consumption or gender differences in alcohol consumption. The results showed a correlation between stress and alcohol consumption, depression and alcohol consumption, and an increase of anxiety levels before and during covid-19. Limitations of this study were discussed as well as possibilities for future research
Burnout, stress, gender differences and the impact of night shift work among Irish prison officers
Prison officers serve a vital role within society, however many are suffering from burnout and stress. The aim of the current study was to investigate burnout and stress among an Irish prison officer sample, while examining the influence of gender, tenure, and night shift work on officer mental health. Using a survey design, 93 participants, currently serving as officers, completed an online questionnaire which featured the Perceived Stress Scale and the Maslach Burnout Inventory. Results indicate that females officers are more likely, than male officers, to report hearing sexually inappropriate language from colleagues. The study highlights the need for research within the area of Irish prison officers, as the literature is lacking and has frequent inconsistent findings. The findings of the current study suggest the need for interventions among prison staff to tackle sexism issues within the workplace
The influence attachment styles, and gender have on an individual’s level of emotional intelligence
The study sought to examine hypotheses about the relationship between attachment styles and gender and their influence on an individual’s level of emotional intelligence. The sample consisted of 104 participants aged between 21 and 75. Participants were required to complete the Schutte Self-Report Emotional Intelligence Test (SSEIT) and the Collins and Read’s Revised Adult Attachment Scale that focused on close relationships. A Pearson’s correlation found a moderate positive relationship between secure attachment style and emotional intelligence and a moderate negative relationship between anxious and avoidant attachment styles and emotional intelligence. An Independent Sample T-Test found no significant difference between females and males and emotional intelligence. A Multiple Regression was run to examine if attachment styles significantly predicted emotional intelligence. It found that secure attachment style was the strong predictor. This study highlights the importance of attachment styles and emotional intelligence in our daily lives
The effectiveness of Nigerian social media influencers in promoting brands and products
The introduction of the internet and social media has had a disruptive impact on the traditional marketing and communication sector. Influencers on social media have consequently emerged as powerful means of promoting brands and their products and services. However, the ingenuity of this mode of reaching out to consumers has been hampered by certain factors such as the prevalence of bots on social media platforms. There are limited studies on the effectiveness of Nigeria social media influencers. Moreover, the conventional means of rating the effectiveness of influencers base on the number of likes seems insufficient. Therefore, this study investigated the effectiveness of Nigerian social media influencers from multiple perspectives incorporating the dual AISAS model (Attention, Interest, Search, Action and Share) and the perception of social media users in Nigeria. Although Nigerians are faced with myriad challenges, they are avid users of social media. The study employed a quantitative approach incorporating 205 social media users, who were chosen through purposive sampling. Purposive sampling was used to ensure that the users are representative of major social media platforms in Nigeria. The questionnaire used was designed based on scales obtained from literature for measuring the variables involved, thus ensuring construct validity. Content validity was achieved through a pilot study prior to the main survey. Ethics was also considered through informed consent. Both descriptive and inferential statistics were used to analyze the collected data. The results generally showed that Nigerian social media influencers are not effective, based on the dual AISAS model used. From users’ perspectives, these influencers were also not credible. The implication for brands and influencers is then summarized with limitations that create opportunities for future studies
Does Sustainability translate into superior share price performance? A comparative study of American, British, and German stock markets
This study aims to find a correlation between 242 stock performances on the company level
in historically grown SRI markets in the USA, Germany, and Britain and their respective ESG
scores of domestic rating agencies, as previous studies focused on SR funds and their
performance. Professional input from 5 experts to gain insight into current investment
behaviours and strategies and future outlooks. This was accomplished by using a risk
reduced Pearson correlation for the stock correlation analysis and a scaled-down Braun and
Clarke (2006) framework for the expert survey. The survey showed a substantial shift
towards SRI due to rising client demand while not sacrificing returns. Correlation
performance varied from industry to industry and might not be solely explained by ESG
ratings. It can be expected that customer demand will increase over time and thus naturally
lead to the better stock performance of SRI
