    How do Project Managers address cross-cultural challenges in multicultural projects? Perspectives from the healthcare industry

    The study aims to contribute to the body of knowledge relating to how Project Managers address issues that can arise due to the presence of a multicultural workforce. The research examines information gathered from a group of 6 diverse Project Managers who work in the healthcare sector through a qualitative design by using semi-structured interviews. A thematic analysis of these interviews shows that Project Managers implement a variety of methods such as setting clearly defined roles & responsibilities within the team, establishing trust, maintaining clear lines of communication & being able to adapt their styles of leadership as they see fit. The data also suggests that there is no one tool, theory or training that Project Managers utilize, but rather the skills they use to address these issues are developed from experience

    Conspiratorial ideation, reactance, trust and stress around vaccine and booster acceptance for COVID-19.

    Vaccines represent the main pathway out of the CoVID-19 pandemic however a minority express consistently hesitant attitudes. The research explored relationships between acceptance or rejection of CoVID-19 vaccinations and components of psychological reactance, conspiratorial ideation, dimensions of trust, and pandemic related stress among participants (N = 1,030) online who completed a self-report questionnaire. Results from regression analyses indicated moderate explanatory power in predicting vaccine intentions. Affect and institutional trust were the most significant influences. T-tests identified that those fully vaccinated displayed higher trust & positive affect with lower anger and uncertainty, and lower conspiracy beliefs, and freedom threat perceptions while the opposite applied amongst those not fully vaccinated. While conspiratorial ideation is not typically amenable to facts-based challenges findings indicate potential for interventions such as cognitive boosts to harness and leverage trust and/or affect. Peripheral cues should be optimised in communications to promote or encourage vaccine acceptance. In just over two years, the SARS-CoV-2 virus has decimated social and economic systems across the globe. Described in ‘game-changing’ by the World Health Organisation ("COVID-19 vaccines", 2022), vaccines represent the main pathway out of the CoVID-19 pandemic (W.H.O.com). Vaccination commenced in Ireland at end-September 2020, and booster shots began to be offered to older adults and healthcare workers in October 2021 (Towey, 2021). All Irish adults have now been offered a vaccine and a booster dose, with over 4 million primary vaccination doses, and 2.8 million booster doses administered at end February 2022 ("Ireland's COVID-19 Data Hub", 2022). However, despite one of the highest vaccination rates in the European Union ("COVID-19 vaccine doses administered per 100 people", 2022), approximately 5% of the adult population (rising to 13% amongst those aged 18-34), have expressed consistently hesitant attitudes towards accepting a vaccine for CoVID-19 (Nunn & Laher, 2022). Mass vaccination campaigns are more likely to succeed where a disease is well known and feared, cases are well publicised, community leaders (political and social) are actively involved in the campaign, access to vaccines is made easy as possible, and social norms of acceptance are well promulgated (Dubé, Gagnon & MacDonald, 2015). A joint statement by WHO, UN, UNICEF, UNDP, UNESCO, UNAIDS, ITU, UN Global Pulse, and IFRC, expressed concern that management of health behaviours during CoVID-19, not least vaccine acceptance, has been beset by a concurrent ‘infodemic’, largely situated online ("Managing the COVID-19 infodemic: Promoting healthy behaviours and mitigating the harm from misinformation and disinformation"; 2020). Thus, while the internet has facilitated social functioning through unprecedented stay-at-home orders, CoVID-19 itself, its origins, and motivations behind recommended health behaviours have all been the subject of prolific online misinformation campaigns (Agley & Xiao, 2021). Such misinformation flourishes online, where membership of geographically dispersed but ideologically aligned communities online can contribute to a warped sense of consensus for what might in local physical or community “place” (Giddens, 2015), be considered ‘marginal’ or ‘outlandish views’ (Kozyreva, Lewandowsky & Hertwig, 2020). Research has also shown anti-vaccination beliefs tend to correlate with unrelated conspiracy theories (Goldberg & Richey, 2020; Hornsey, Finlayson, Chatwood & Begeny, 2020) as one of several ideology systems which impact on vaccine refusal ("Covid-19 Vaccines: Safety Surveillance Manual", 2020). Mistrustful attitudes towards so called ‘mainstream’ narratives serve a heuristic role in evaluating health behaviours such as vaccination (Jolley & Douglas, 2014; Nancy Chen, 2015). Both conspiratorial ideation (Agley & Xiao, 2021) and networks of trust (Schweers Cook, 2005) are known to emerge under conditions of uncertainty or risk such as, for example, the pandemic context within which this research takes place. This research will therefore seek to examine the relationships between measures of psychological reactance, conspiratorial ideation, trust and CoVID-19 vaccination intentions. To assess individual differences in responding to environmental uncertainty or risk, the research will also measure levels of CoVID-19 related stress

    Analysis of customer satisfaction and perceived quality for improvement of project management methodology in a video game project

    The Division 2 is a large scale video game project which has received mixed and mediocre reviews from the fans. In this study researcher has analysed customer feedback data in form of customer satisfaction (CSAT and NPS score) and perceived quality (Graphics and audio) so that that existing project management processes and methods can be improved. Quantitative data was collected with help of survey questionnaire designed and distributed to sample of division 2 players. Total of 95 responses were received. CSAT of overall game and storytelling was found to be low while NPS was negative. Majority of participants also reported bugs and wanted to see new features in the next expansion update and in sequel of the game. Perceived quality of audio was found to be low/mediocre. Based on results and data analysis in SPSS, researcher has given recommendation for future and current projects of division 2

    The standard of modern technology of learning gives the educators an ability to find advanced learning methods and to support the development of highly professional human resource. The increase in the introduction of cloud computing technology in the academic setting creates a sense of capabilities to learn and educate the cloud-based learning services in colleges and universities. In view of this, the study aims to investigate and propose the factors that influence the acceptance of online learning through cloud computing platforms. In order to understand the reasons for the acceptance of cloud computing in the student population, a Technology Acceptance Model was used and questions were asked to students based on constructs like perceived usefulness, perceived ease of use, cloud computing awareness, risk & security, computer self-efficacy and e-skills. The nature of the project was descriptive and these factors do have a positive impact on the students due to the innovative learning technologies, concepts and tools

    Maintaining a positive outlook amongst chaos: a qualitative exploration into the Irish experience of close relationships during COVID-19

    The aim of the current qualitative study was to examine the impacts of the Covid-19 lockdown on individuals’ close relationships with others and themselves, in an Irish sample. A total of 5 participants, 3 females and 2 males, within the age range of 23-29 years old, took part in the study. In-depth interviews, incorporating semi-structured and open-ended questions, took place over Zoom. Thematic analysis was conducted on the data obtained, in which 4 main themes emerged: Changes in family relationships; Changes in romantic relationships; Changes in friendships; New perspectives; alongside 10 sub-themes. Results found that participants expressed both positive and negative impacts on their close relationships throughout lockdown. The findings indicated that all participants viewed lockdown as a positive experience, despite reported negative impacts to their close relationships. This study highlighted the importance for future research to be conducted around introspection as a positive advantage from periods of self-isolation

    A formative assessment of pension awareness among UK workforce

    An important research area which concerns corporate bodies and government decision-makers is the topic of pension funds, the awareness of pension schemes among employees and the perceived importance of these schemes. Existing Covid 19 pressures have also put forward cash flow limitations for firms, which has given further importance to research on this topic. While pension schemes are associated with additional costs, this paper attempts to explore some of the benefits associated (employee motivation, job satisfaction and employee retention). Further, the paper explores the role and importance of pensions through the lens of ‘Motivation Theory (Maslow’s Hierarchy of needs). This dissertation seeks to provide a framework for understanding the role of pension funds for employees in the United Kingdom. The thesis then proceeds with research on employee perceptions through a method of quantitative research.     A phenomenological exploration of circles of support and accountability volunteers’ motivation in Ireland

    In Ireland, like in most of the western world, re-integration of individuals with convictions for harmful sexual behaviour has been a challenging issue. Unlike most members of society, who would be against sexual offenders living in their community, some members have chosen to meet them regularly to provide them with support in a volunteer capacity. Indeed, they are volunteering as part of Circle of Support and Accountability (CoSA), a professionally-facilitated volunteering programme, being run in Ireland as a partnership between PACE, a non-for-profit organisation, and the Irish Probation Service. Semi-structured interviews were conducted with 5 current volunteers in Ireland to explore their motivation to be involved with CoSA. The data was analysed using Interpretative Phenomenological Analysis. These finding were found to be consistent with existing literature in the domain, except for the absence of faith-based motivation and the emergence of an additional theme related to the challenges specifically associated with the societal perceptions of sexual offending

    Teachers perceptions and understanding of dyslexia: impacts of teacher training and self-efficacy on education students with dyslexia

    The role of teachers in dyslexic students’ lives is of utmost importance to their learning. This research aimed to explore teacher’s perceptions and understanding of dyslexia. The relationship of training and self-efficacy of teachers and how this affects teacher knowledge and teaching of dyslexic students was assessed. Insights and opinions of teachers pertaining to descriptions and challenges of dyslexia were explored. A mixed method quantitative research survey with a qualitative component was completed by 66 primary school teacher participants. Statistical analysis indicates teacher’s knowledge of dyslexia correlated with self-efficacy. The findings also highlight how teachers see dyslexia present in Irish classrooms. Systematic challenges highlighted in the results are highlighted. This research indicates the need for additional training and support/resources in teaching students with dyslexia. This research also highlights the issue of dyslexia diagnosis. The requirement for further qualitative research in this area is discussed

    This research study aims to understand the determinants of video advertisement that influences consumer behaviour of Generation-Z. Qualitative Method was chosen for this study to determine an in-depth knowledge about the opinions and perceptions of the participants. Reflexive thematic analysis was used to analyse the effectiveness of video advertisement theory in terms of the uses and gratification theory to trigger consumer decision making. Three focused groups were conducted with Generation-Z moderated by the researcher. The results showed that Generation Z feel that video advertisements activate a positive impact through reliability and relevance of information. In conclusion, video advertisers can influence consumer behaviour by ensuring the presence of these elements in the video: as duration, entertainment, informativeness, customization, and interactivity

    The banking business, like many others in the financial services industry, is dealing with a fast-changing market, economic uncertainty, severe competition, new technologies and most importantly, demanding clients. Banking is a client-focused service industry and due to intense competition, customer satisfaction has become the most crucial part of any banking organization. Banks are more focused on retaining existing clients by providing high-quality services that result in customer satisfaction. As conventional banking gave way to modern banking, the notions and factors of client happiness evolved dramatically. The key highlight of the research would be to deeply research if Indian Banks are meeting the needs of Millennials. For this, statistical analysis was based on 85 participants who projected that online banking, service calibre, trust & security were key factors of banking experience. Consequently, this research paper can be employed by banks with a view to improve their relationship with their largest customer base- Millennials
