The evolution of the Public Sector's Internal Audit Function A Systematic Literature Review
This work aims to analyse and identify research areas where scholars have already investigated the role of the internal audit function in public sector entities and how they carried out their papers, proposing future research directions. The analysis was conducted through a systematic literature review (SLR). Results show that the selected papers have mostly been published in the last couple of years, even though the scientific literature on public sector internal audit is still limited. The most frequently discussed topics focus on the planning and execution of internal audit activities, as well as the requirements that establish the authority, credibility, and ethical standards essential for a high-value internal audit function. This SLR will help researchers identify key issues to address in their work and suggest potential areas for future research

Il testo analizza il concetto di ibrido a partire dalla definizione di J. Fenton (1985) per arrivare a interrogarsi sul rapporto tra "Typical plan"(Koolhaas, 1979) e le tessiture territoriali di C. Darci (1980). L'obiettivo è quello di verificare se alcuni di questi concetti siano ancora validi se applicati a contesti in cui la figurabilità è ad un tempo prevalente e destrutturata, alle aree disperse della città contemporanea in cui le relazioni tra spazi aperti e trama edilizia sono da reinterpretare.
La tipologia stazione si presta a verificare questa trasformazione da ibrido condensatore di funzioni e attività in tessuti consolidati a ibrido urbano, tra interno ed esterno, polo attrattivo e strutturante in contesti dispersi
A machine learning method to predict printing time for the L-PBF process
The machine learning usage in the L-PBF process for metal powders helps to identify the optimal parameter combination. Machine learning can find non-linear correlations between the high number of variables of this production process. One of the obstacles to the widespread adoption of L-PBF in the industry, in addition to the high costs, is the long printing time required for a complex component. The possibility of an early evaluation of the 3D printing time could promote the overall diffusion of this production process in the industry. Correct time prediction can improve cost efficiency and production capacity, reducing energy consumption, environmental impacts, and lead time. This paper proposes a machine learning approach, such as Random Forest Regressor, to predict the printing time of a metal component starting from the STereo Lithography (.stl) CAD format for the L-PBF process. A case study is proposed to evaluate and demonstrate the approach, obtaining a high-level prediction accuracy
Towards the development of bias-corrected rainfall erosivity time series for Europe
Rainfall erosivity maps for (near) real-time soil erosion predictions require the integration of (combinations of) reanalysis products and satellite-retrievals of rainfall, and the overcoming of potential bias related to their simplified spatial and temporal scale. Across Europe, we evaluate: 1) the European Meteorological Observations (EMO) dataset to simulate the localised characteristics of rainfall erosivity at the event scale (EI30), and 2) different implementations of quantile delta mapping (QDM) bias correction to improve the prediction skill. Between 1990 and 2014, evaluations were made at several spatial (location-specific, climatic zone and pan-European) and temporal (event, annual and long-term annual average) scales. The uncorrected EMO predictions demonstrated: 1) a slight overprediction of the number of EI30 events, 2) a reduced coefficient of variation in the EI30 (CV EMO = 1.57, CV REDES = 2.5), and 3) a relatively low (R2 = 0.22, n = 139,306) location-specific predictive skill, with higher discrepancies in all cases in Southern Europe. Following QDM, the EI30 predictions significantly better represented the large-sample variability of EI30 per climate region and improved the monthly correspondence. At specific locations, station-wise bias correction was the only implementation to improve the event (R2 = 0.24, n = 139,306), annual (R2 = 0.51, n = 14,248) and average annual (R2 = 0.76, n = 1142) predictions. While bias correction can improve rainfall erosivity predictions, applications should consider possibly large error propagation into subsequent predictions, regional disparities in performance, and the potential to improve the large-sample statistical correspondence but degrade the location-specific time series prediction
Sharon, Quentin e la Giustizia poetica. Una riflessione pedagogica
L'autore nel presente saggio cerca di riflettere pedagogicamente sul concetto di Giustizia poetica legandolo anche al potere immaginativo e trasformativo della narrazione letteraria e cinematografica. Nello specifico, dopo una essenziale riflessione sul concetto di Giustizia poetica, fa riferimento alla vicenda di Sharon Tate (barbaramente uccisa dalla "Family Manson" nel 1969) e di come il regista Quentin Tarantino nel film "C'era una volta... a Hollywood" sia riuscito a umanizzare poeticamente sotto forma narrativa quello che la realtà ha reso una tragica, barbara vicenda (per taluni di cronaca). Nella prospettiva adotatta dall'Autore del saggio non si tratta di una mera consolazione ma di una testimonianza di come l’immaginazione narrativa possa svolgere una funzione di Giustizia poetica, capace di testimoniare che nel mondo della vita è sempre possibile l’attuarsi di un qualcosa d’altro rispetto a come vanno le cose, e che il disumano può essere sempre sconfitto dal bene

¿Cuál es la mejor manera de contraargumentar racionalmente la
afirmación o algún aspecto del razonamiento de los demás? En este c apítuloabordaremos esta cuestión. Aprender a refutar los argumentos que no aceptamos es un aspecto importante de la argumentación y una habilidad fundamental del Pensamiento Crítico. Al fin y al cabo, no es difícil darse cuenta de que las discusiones reales, ya sea en un seminario para estudiantes de posgrado, en una conflictiva reunión de consorcio o en un tribunal, suelen
implicar un intercambio dialéctico de razones –dicho con palabras más simples, una discusión con idas y vueltas. Una buena contribución argumentativa debe producir refutaciones (o, al menos, intentos
de refutación) de los argumentos que no aceptamos. Esto nos exige analizar la estructura del razonamiento de la contraparte, actividad que a menudo nos lleva a captar aspectos de ella que no se ven a simple vista y que merecen ser sacados a la luz. En este capítulo analizamos las dos estrategias principales que podemos utilizar para refutar racionalmente (§ 4.1). La primera es atacar su estructura argumentativa (§ 4.2), es decir, señalar que las premisas no aportan razones para la conclusión. La segunda estrategia es atacar la verdad de las premisas, o su justificación o plausibilidad (§ 4.3), es decir, mostrar que hay razones sólidas para dudar de que las premisas son verdaderas.

The Impacts of Erosion on the Carbon Cycle
Physical and chemical erosion associated with water both affect land–atmosphere carbon exchanges. However, previous studies have often addressed these processes separately or used oversimplified mechanisms, leading to ongoing debates and uncertainties about erosion-induced carbon fluxes. We provide an overview of the on-site carbon uptake fluxes induced by physical erosion (0.05–0.29 Pg C yr−1, globally) and chemical erosion (0.26–0.48 Pg C yr−1). Then, we discuss off-site carbon dynamics (during transport, deposition, and burial). Soil organic carbon mineralization during transport is nearly 0.37–1.20 Pg C yr−1 on the globe. We also summarize the overall carbon fluxes into estuaries (0.71–1.06 Pg C yr−1) and identify the sources of different types of carbon within them, most of which are associated with land erosion. Current approaches for quantifying physical-erosion-induced vertical carbon fluxes focus on two distinct temporal scales: short-term dynamics (ranging from minutes to decades), emphasizing net vertical carbon flux, and long-term dynamics (spanning millennial to geological timescales), examining the fate of eroded carbon over extended periods. In addition to direct chemical measurement and modeling approaches, estimation using indicators of riverine material is popular for constraining chemical-erosion-driven carbon fluxes. Lastly, we highlight the key challenges for quantifying related fluxes. To overcome potential biases in future studies, we strongly recommend integrated research that addresses both physical and chemical erosion over a well-defined timescale. A comprehensive understanding of the mechanisms driving erosion-induced lateral and vertical carbon fluxes is crucial for closing the global carbon budget
