introducing the framework of distinguished categories. This includes
commutative algebraic groups and mixed Shimura varieties. It allows us to
define all basic concepts of the field and prove some fundamental facts about
them, e.g. the defect condition.

implications between Zilber-Pink statements with respect to base change. This
yields unconditional results, i.e. the Zilber-Pink conjecture for a complex

Versatile MDM-OFDM system with selectable single-mode half-subcarrier or two-mode full-subcarrier multiplexing
No full textWe propose a novel all-optical hybrid MDM-OFDM system that enables variable transmission capacity by seamlessly switching between two-mode full subcarriers and single-mode sparse subcarriers multiplexing through the use of power loading. The operation depends on the mode crosstalk present between the arrayed waveguide grating and the two-mode fiber. Through rigorous analysis, our results indicate that for the two-mode full subcarrier multiplexing, a power loading of 0.78 dB for the TE10 mode guarantees uniform performance across all subcarriers. Furthermore, by effectively suppressing the TE10 mode using a power loading of 12 dB, our system achieves similar performances and functionality to single-mode sparse subcarrier multiplexing, wherein only the TE00 mode is utilized. Our system offers variable transmission rates for data center connections, using all-optical signal processing, without varying the modulation scheme and the symbol rate
Greenhouse gas emissions and road infrastructure in Europe: A machine learning analysis
No full textThis paper explores the determinants of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in Europe, focusing on transportation-related variables. By combining classical econometric models with Machine Learning (ML) techniques, we analyze data spanning from 2013 to 2021. The empirical findings highlight the complex relationship between newer passenger cars and GHG emissions, noting the significant impact of their production and increased usage. Conversely, the adoption of alternative fuel vehicles is found to significantly reduce emissions. This is further supported by ML models, which emphasize the critical role of car density and alternative fuel vehicles in determining emissions. Policy implications suggest the need for targeted interventions, including the promotion of electric and hybrid vehicles, enhancements in transportation infrastructure, and the implementation of economic incentives for clean technologies

Positive LGBT+ Identity, Interpersonal Discrimination, and Satisfaction with Life: A Cross-National Comparison Between LGBT+ People in the UK, Italy, and Turkey
No full textThe present study explored how identity authenticity and LGBT+ community connectedness may mediate the effects of interpersonal discrimination on life satisfaction in a sample of LGBT+ participants across three counties. We used a cross-sectional online survey to collect data and paper questionnaires. Participants were 723 LGBT+ people (56.6% females): 308 (42%) of participants were from the UK, 245 (34%) from Italy, and 170 (24%) from Turkey. Participants' age ranged from 18-60 years (M = 33.83, SD = 11.55). Analysis of variance and multigroup mediation models implemented through path analysis were performed. The associations of interpersonal discrimination with identity authenticity and connectedness to the LGBT+ community showed cross-country variations. The association between interpersonal discrimination and identity authenticity was stronger in Italy than in the UK but non-significant in Turkey. Interpersonal discrimination showed a negative association with connectedness to the LGBT+ community in Italy and the UK, with Italy exhibiting the strongest effect. Conversely, this association was positive in Turkey. Irrespective of the country, life satisfaction showed a negative association with interpersonal discrimination and positive associations with identity authenticity and connectedness to the LGBT+ community. This study provides valuable insights into the differences and similarities between the experiences of LGBT+ people in the UK, Italy, and Turkey. The social and policy implications that emerge from the study highlight the relevance of addressing structural stigma in different cultures and emphasize the need for targeted interventions and supportive policies at the supranational level to improve the quality of life of LGBT+ individuals

No full textLa ricerca si propone di fornire un contributo nella valutazione dell’effettività e dell’ampiezza dei trattamenti economici e normativi raggiunti dai vari CCNL applicati nel settore terziario. La selezione dei CCNL è stata operata in ragione del criterio della più ampia diffusione applicativa nel settore oggetto di osservazione e, tenendo conto della osservazione empirica, si è ritenuto utile mettere a confronto altri due CCNL che, benché riferiti a un perimetro contrattuale diverso, hanno nel tempo trovato costante applicazione nel settore terziario, tanto da divenire CCNL utilizzati in concomitanza se non in concorrenza con gli altri., con conseguente ampiamento degli interlocutori istituzionali tradizionali delle relazioni industriali del settore terziario.This research aims to contribute to the evaluation of the effectiveness and scope of the economic and regulatory treatments achieved by the various CCNLs applied in the tertiary sector. The selection of the CCNLs was made on the basis of the criterion of the widest application in the observed sector and, taking into account empirical observation, it was considered useful to compare two other CCNLs which, although referring to a different contractual scope, have over time found constant application in the tertiary sector, so much so that they have become CCNLs used in conjunction, if not in competition, with the others, with a consequent widening of the traditional institutional interlocutors of industrial relations in the tertiary sector
