Il contributo documenta l'evoluzione dell'assetto architettonico del Centro Universitario Sportivo (C.U.S.) dell'Unioversità di Pisa fin dalla sua istituzione, riconosciuta dal Senato Accademico nella seduta del 26 giugno 1946. Particolare attenzione è rivolta all'evoluzione nella dotazione di impianti sportivi e attrezzature a partire dagli inizi degli anni Ottanta, quando il C.U.S. è trasferito nell'area ai margini della Porta a Lucca della città di Pisa, con accesso dalla via Chiarugi. Il contributo si conclude con la disanima delle vicende architettoniche e urbanistiche conseguenti alla istituzione del parco sportivo urbano (scheda norma 10.4 del Comune di Pisa) e comprendente tutta l'area del C.U.S. con alcune proposte relative al potenziamento di impianti sportivi
Highly sustainable multilayer fluorescent devices for solar energy harvesting
Luminescent Solar Concentrators (LSCs) are slab devices capable of concentrating sunlight, exploiting the emissive properties of fluorescent systems. Because of their appealing aesthetic characteristics, lightweight, and the ability to work in diffuse light, they are promising candidates for the development of building-integrated and distributed urban photovoltaic systems. To overcome the inherent limitations of single-dye LSCs in terms of spectral coverage and efficiency, this paper explores the development and performance of bulk LSCs fabricated with r-PMMA using the dyes DQ1 and BDT-H2 in both monolayer and multilayer configurations. Concentrations ranging from 200 to 400 ppm were investigated, yielding exceptional photophysical properties, including ≈ 90% s and close to 45% for DQ1 systems. For BDT-H2-based LSCs, an of 8.6% was achieved. Notably, the emission peak of DQ1 and the absorption band of BDT-H2, both centred around 530 nm, supported a synergistic multilayer design. When stacked, the multilayer configuration with the DQ1 layer positioned atop the BDT-H2 layer exhibited superior performance, achieving a maximum of 9.2%. This enhanced efficiency was attributed to three key factors: the high conversion efficiency of DQ1 within its absorption range, the reabsorption of DQ1-emitted photons by BDT-H2, and the expanded absorption range from the overlap of the dyes’ spectra. Background & Aims: Several studies have assessed the short-term effectiveness and safety of obeticholic acid (OCA) in the realworld
setting. We aimed to extend knowledge on the real-world effectiveness and safety of OCA treatment by expanding sample
size and follow-up, and by exploring changes in liver stiffness measurement (LSM) over time.
Methods: The RECAPITULATE project involves centres belonging to the “Italian PBC registry” and/or the “Club Epatologi
Ospedalieri” PBC working group. Effectiveness was evaluated as biochemical response according to POISE and normal range
(NR) criteria (normal alkaline phosphatase/alanine aminotransferase/bilirubin). Safety was assessed as the incidence of de novo/
worsening pruritus and discontinuation rate/causes. Available LSMs were also captured.
Results: We included 747 patients from 66 Italian centres: mean age 58 years; female/male 88%/14%; median follow-up 24
months [IQR 12-42]; 28% with cirrhosis, and 14% with autoimmune hepatitis (AIH)/PBC overlap syndrome. Probabilities of POISE
and NR response increased from baseline to 57% and 20%, respectively, by the 42nd month. The probabilities of response were
lower in patients with cirrhosis (p = 0.02 and p = 0.004 for POISE and NR), but not different between patients with AIH/PBC and
pure PBC (p = 0.8). Overall, 130 patients (17%) discontinued treatment, mainly due to pruritus (36.9%), while 28.5% did so after
developing hepatic events. The discontinuation rate was higher in patients with cirrhosis (p <0.001). LSM was available in 573
patients ( 77%), of whom 255 had multiple measurements. LSM variation over time differed based on the attainment of POISE
biochemical response (expected mean annual variation -0.48 [-0.78, -0.19] in responders vs. +0.33 [-0.07, 0.73] in nonresponders,
respectively, p <0.001).
Conclusions: Our findings confirm the effectiveness and safety profiles of OCA in the medium/long term and demonstrate that
biochemical response is associated with the change in LSM over time
Informal networks and education choice: A dynamic macro model
This study examines the temporal evolution of the share of educated workers within a discrete-time macroeconomic model. The decision to pursue education is modeled endogenously through a modified replicator equation that captures the influence of homophily, social learning, and herding behavior. Building on the literature on informal networks, this adaptive process addresses labor market information asymmetries, which can be partially alleviated through personal connections. In particular, when a young agent's parental network includes both educated and uneducated individuals, it enhances the agent's ability to evaluate the returns to education. By incorporating an intergenerational productivity spillover, we are able to model how this rigidity affects both educational attainment and economic growth
Mensonge biographique et vérité littéraire. Ambiguïtés de la biographie dans Semmelweis de Louis-Ferdinand Céline
À la fois thèse de doctorat et premier exercice de création littéraire, La Vie et l’œuvre de Philippe Ignace Semmelweis (1924) occupe une place ambiguë dans l’œuvre de Céline. D’un côté, il s’agit bien évidemment d’un texte fondamental pour comprendre l’évolution ultérieure de sa poétique ; de l’autre, la démarche scientifique qui caractérise l’écriture impose de le resituer dans son contexte de rédaction, sans céder à la tentation d’une interprétation rétrospective susceptible de surestimer les aspects les plus proprement littéraires. Il n’en reste pas moins que l’attention aux questions médicales devient parfois un simple prétexte à l'exploration d’une vérité subjective, qui semble anticiper le pessimisme radical des romans ultérieurs. C’est pourquoi Céline, tout en demeurant globalement fidèle aux événements historiques, introduit plusieurs altérations – modification des faits biographiques, brouillage des dates – qui confèrent au récit une dimension symbolique et une atmosphère dramatique inédites dans ce genre de discours. Semmelweis semble ainsi s’inscrire dans une conception déjà moderniste de la biographie, caractérisée par la subjectivisation du regard et par la mise en crise du modèle narratif traditionnel.
La relation entre Céline et son sujet repose néanmoins sur un mécanisme encore plus complexe, puisque la figure de Semmelweis répond également à une projection autobiographique fondée sur un destin commun d’injustice et d’exclusion. Conscient ou non, ce processus d’identification métamorphose l’écriture biographique en une investigation révélant déjà les névroses paranoïdes de l’écrivain, ainsi que son besoin, parfois délirant, de vérité et de justice. Ce n’est pas un hasard si, en 1936, l'éditeur Denoël décidera de rééditer le texte sous le titre de Semmelweis, l’intégrant définitivement au corpus des œuvres céliniennes. Une telle décision ne se limite pas à rendre explicite la continuité entre cet ouvrage et un imaginaire romanesque désormais devenu célèbre ; elle contribue également à définir la posture de l’écrivain dans le champ intellectuel de l’époque. Au milieu des années trente, la figure de Semmelweis s’inscrit dans la construction d’une identité publique basée sur le poncif de la persécution et de l’incompréhension; une image que le délire des pamphlets antisémites ne fera que radicaliser.
Bien que La Vie de Semmelweis soit souvent célébrée pour sa résonance déjà littéraire, le texte demeure, cependant, ancré dans une tradition biographique qui vise avant tout à la transmission d’un savoir historique et scientifique, plutôt qu’au déploiement d’un imaginaire romanesque autonome et maîtrisé. À l'exception de quelques solutions stylistiques déjà originales, le registre reste, par exemple, assez éloigné des audaces formelles que Céline développera dans les romans des années trente, notamment dans Mort à crédit (1936). Même sans céder totalement à une interprétation littéraire de Semmelweis, on peut constater que le texte porte déjà les marques d’une vision du monde structurée autour de ses axes fondamentaux. D’un côté, une interprétation de l’Histoire comme perpétuation incessante du Mal ; de l’autre, le besoin de faire entendre, à travers la posture du prophète solitaire, une vérité étouffée sous le poids des idéologies dominantes. Loin d’être un simple sujet biographique, Semmelweis s’impose, en définitive, comme l’émanation d’obsessions profondes, récurrentes et structurantes que Céline n’a cessé de reformuler, de distordre et d’exalter tout au long de son œuvre

Cerebral Aspergilloma Mimicking Brain Tumor as Challenge for Neurocritical Care Medicine: A Case Report
Cerebral aspergillosis is a rare but potentially deadly fungal infection that may require surgical treatment in some cases. Most commonly, this infection occurs in patients with compromised immune systems, such as those with cancer, HIV/AIDS, organ transplants, or steroid therapy. We reported a 60-year-old male with right parieto-occipital predominance, objective vertigo with horizontal rotational nystagmus, syncope episodes with position changes, and ataxia, who performed a brain MRI which showed a left frontoparietal contrast-enhancing lesion with a slight midline shift mimicking a brain tumor. However, after surgical resection, microscopic examination revealed extensive Aspergillus fumigatus presence. Targeted antibiotic therapy has been started. Early antifungal therapy helps with the treatment though the final diagnosis requires pathological examination and cultures of the drainage of the brain abscess. The prognosis is relatively good if treated early and there are no major complications. Aspergillus brain infection should be considered when concurrent dental or pulmonary infection.
