Digital Transformation as a Driver to Create a Culture of Sustainability in Healthcare: A Scoping Review
Sustainability is a challenging topic in the healthcare sector. The academic debate focuses on the spread of sustainability in healthcare through the education and the training of employees, making crucial the development of a culture of sustainability. This paper explores the current body of literature about the culture of sustainability within healthcare organizations. The authors conducted a scoping literature review based on the York methodology to achieve this goal. The authors searched online using selected keywords on Scopus and Google Scholar. Inclusion and exclusion criteria were identified to restrict the articles’ sample. A bibliometric analysis was conducted to give an overview of the field. The findings highlight a link between culture and sustainability in healthcare. The research aims to achieve three main goals: (1) provide an overview of the connection between culture and sustainability in healthcare, (2) explore how culture and sustainability are examined in existing literature on the topic, and (3) offer valuable insights to guide future empirical research on developing a culture of sustainability in healthcare

Il contributo analizza l’utilizzo di sistemi di intelligenza artificiale per l’oscuramento dei dati personali – sanitari e non – da parte della pubblica amministrazione, collocando la questione all’intersezione tra principi di trasparenza amministrativa, esigenze di segretezza e tutela della riservatezza. Dopo una ricostruzione del quadro concettuale e normativo relativo all’oscuramento dei dati, lo studio esamina le specificità dell’ambito sanitario, nel quale la protezione delle informazioni personali assume una particolare rilevanza, anche alla luce della giurisprudenza sovranazionale in materia di diritti fondamentali e protezione dei dati
An Experimental Campaign to Observe Floating Plastic Using a Multi-Sensor Strategy
This study is to describe the aggregated platic experiment carried out in July 2024 in the framework of the Italian Ministry of Research (MUR) funded project ECOMARE. The experiment is about the observation of aggregated plastic targets deployed in a South Italy lake using drone-based optical sensors and collocated satellite X-band Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) imagery acquired by the Italian Cosmo-SkyMed Second Generation (CSG) constellation using the very high resolution dual-polarimetric SpotLight mode. Experimental results show that the aggregated plastic results in a well-distinguishable signature in the optical imagery that makes them distinguishable from natural floating debris. Non-negligible hints of signals associated to the floating plastic appear also in both the co- and the cross-polarized channels of the CSG SAR scene

Extraordinary Gamma Radiation Sensitivity of Long-Period Gratings Inscribed in Lutetium Aluminum Garnet-Doped Optical Fiber
In this work, we present the first experimental evidence of gamma radiation effects in a scintillating optical fiber featuring a core doped with lutetium and aluminum (LuAG), as well as cerium. These effects are related to fiber radiation-induced refractive index change (RIRIC) at infrared wavelengths, an aspect not typically examined in these fibers, and have been explored using long period grating (LPG) as a highly sensitive probe. The fiber was fabricated using a modified chemical vapor deposition (MCVD) technique combined with nanocrystal doping. During exposure to gamma irradiation at a dose rate of 1.8 kGy/h and total dose up to 4.5 kGy, the LPG resonance wavelength was monitored in real-time. Remarkably, the LPG resonance wavelength exhibited a shift of up to 50 nm, far exceeding the response observed in conventional Ge-doped fibers, while maintaining negligible radiation-induced attenuation. Post-irradiation analysis also revealed the persistence of the effects, suggesting a stable radiation-induced modification. The findings offer new insights into the design of high-sensitivity, radiation-responsive photonic components, with strong potential for applications in harsh environment sensing, nuclear monitoring, and radiation protection systems
