Assessing the quantity and quality of corporate social responsibility disclosures on websites: an empirical analysis on largest Islamic and conventional banks worldwide
Purpose – The study aims to evaluate and compare the quantity and quality levels of corporate social
responsibility disclosure (CSRD) practices on the websites of the largest Islamic and conventional banks
worldwide.
Design/methodology/approach – Two indices were developed: the quantity index, consisting of seven
categories, and the quality index, which includes eight characteristics, to adopt the quantitative content analysis
of the global leading 94 Islamic and 100 conventional banks’ websites.
Findings – The results show that conventional banks have higher levels of CSRD quantity and quality on their
websites than those of Islamic banks. The study found that the products and services category is the most
disclosed by largest Islamic and conventional banks worldwide, while environment and energy information is
the lowest for Islamic banks and employee and human resource information is less common for conventional
ones. The analysis reveals low levels of CSRD quantity and quality on Islamic banks’ websites (43.69% and
54.56%) and high levels on conventional banks’ websites (70.84% and 73.26%).
Research limitations/implications – The study focuses on analyzing the quantity and quality of CSRD on
English-accessible websites of the largest Islamic and conventional banks in 2022, focusing on English as a
uniform language for data collection because it analyzed 194 websitesfrom48 countries with over 20 languages.
Practical implications – The results of this study are likely to be valuable to many interested parties because
they inform investors about the status of CSRD practices on the largest Islamic and conventional banks’
websites worldwide and how they disclose such information. To ensure investor satisfaction and accurate
investment decisions, these global banks should provide comprehensive and high-quality CSR information on
their websitesto show how they contribute to CSR activities. Forscholars, itslimitations may be helpful in their
future research.
Originality/value – The originality ofthis paper derivesfromitsfocus on largest-world Islamic and non-Islamic
banks, collecting primary data directly from their websites, and offering valuable theoretical, methodological
and practical insights
Optimizing Coffee Supply Chain Transparency and Traceability through Mobile Application
In an era where consumers increasingly demand transparency and sustainability in food production, this study introduces a mobile application tailored for the coffee supply chain. The goal of the study is to enhance the entire coffee production process by integrating technologies such as blockchain, RFID, and barcodes to improve transparency, traceability, and operational efficiency. The application tracks and records data from farm inspection to export, covering coffee variety, environmental conditions, and supplier actions. It manages logistics with real-time updates on quantities, destinations, and delivery times, which supports better decision-making and fosters consumer trust through verifiable information. By improving coordination, reducing fraud, and optimizing quality control, the app aims to cut costs by up to 20%, reduce inventory carrying costs by 15-25%, and boost crop productivity by up to 15%. Furthermore, it supports precision agriculture, aligns with Just-In-Time principles, and promotes sustainability while ensuring compliance with ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 standards
MULTILEVEL HEALTH DATA MANAGEMENT IN EU, BETWEEN RESEARCH, HEALTH NATIONAL SYSTEM EFFECTIVENESS, AND DIGITAL PLATFORMS*
The urgent need for a unified framework of health data governance was highlighted by the impact o the COVID-19 pandemic, culminating in the Regulation on the European Health Data Space (EHDS). Adopting a twofold approach, from the perspective of vertical subsidiarity, this paper first examines the necessity of reforming and digitalising national health systems to ensure effective interconnection within the EHDS. From the perspective of horizontal subsidiarity, it analyses the responsibility attributed to the digital platforms by Article 40 DSA and the related Delegated Regulation on researchers’ access to platform data. It concludes that interoperability, standardisation and coordinated action between public authorities and private operators are indispensable for effective multilevel governance of health data
Nutrition and Physical Activity in the University Population: A Scoping Review of Combined Impacts on Psychological Well-Being, Cognitive Performance, and Quality of Life
Background: University students are particularly vulnerable to psychological distress due to the transitional nature of this life phase and increasing academic, social, and financial pressures. Accumulating evidence indicates that lifestyle behaviors—especially nutrition and physical activity—play a critical role in shaping mental health, cognitive functioning, and overall well-being in this population. Methods: The objective of this scoping review was to systematically map the literature on the combined impacts of diet and physical activity on psychological well-being among university students. Following PRISMA-ScR guidelines, an initial search of three major databases (PubMed, Sciencedirect, and Wiley) yielded 718 articles. After a multi-stage screening process, 39 articles of various designs (including cross-sectional, interventional, and review studies) focusing on non-clinical student populations were included. The studies were then thematically analyzed. Results: While most research explored isolated behaviors, a smaller set of integrated studies revealed synergistic effects, reporting enhanced outcomes in mental health and quality of life. Notably, several articles proposed practical strategies—such as app-based tools, structured wellness initiatives, and interdisciplinary educational programs—as effective means to support healthier habits. Conclusions: The evidence strongly suggests that universities should prioritize holistic, multi-component wellness strategies over siloed, single-behavior initiatives. Developing integrated programs that combine nutritional education and physical activity support represents a practical and effective approach to enhance student well-being
Simulation as a Service in Data Spaces: A Digital Twin-based Approach
The integration of Digital Twins with Data Spaces represents a significant opportunity for developing new value-added services across various domains. While both technologies are well-established individually, a comprehensive analysis of their integration potential and practical implementation guidelines remains necessary to unlock innovative service deployment scenarios. This paper addresses this gap by providing a thorough examination of available technologies, comparing Digital Twin frameworks and Data Space connectors, alongside detailed implementation guidance for service deployment. Technical specifications for connector implementation, data standardization, and policy enforcement are thoroughly detailed, offering valuable insights for industry practitioners. Through this analysis, we demonstrate how to leverage these technologies to enable real-time grid simulation as a service—a capability not yet available in current Data Space ecosystems. Our approach, built on the FIWARE platform, ensures interoperability through standardized data models and common vocabularies, providing a blueprint for practitioners to expose simulation services within Data Spaces. The framework’s effectiveness was validated in the energy domain, using the real-world infrastructure of the University of Murcia campus (Spain), where we successfully conducted Energy Demand Response assessment without compromising grid operations. This implementation, combined with our comprehensive technical guidelines and practical insights, establishes a clear pathway for operators to deploy simulation services within Data Spaces, fostering innovation across different infrastructure management scenarios

Managing Organizations between Artificial Intelligence and Technostress: A Typology Model
This study aims to model the relationships between the independent variables AI-implementation, techno-eustress and techno-distress and the dependent variable productivity, in business organizational context, to understand if an organization, that has, or not has, implemented AI-technologies, are more or less near the ideal organizational typology and to design the possible path to be competitive maximizing techno-eustress and minimizing techno-distress, deriving from the use of AI, impacting positively on productivity. The result is a Three-dimensional-Typology Model identifying 8 different organizational typologies that we named in a particular way for better to represent the situation identified and the distance from the ideal one of maximization of productivity. This work represents a framework for future research on the topic and offers a theoretical model for managers to understand which organizational typology is closest to their organization noting the level achieved by the productivity. In this way, they have the possibility to understand what actions to take to act on the independent variables to divert them towards the ideal typology of maximization of productivity identified as “Futuristic Oasis”
«L’eterno ritorno dell’uguale». (nota a Cass. pen, Sez. VI, 23 ottobre 2024, dep. 4 febbraio 2025, n. 4520)
323 c.p. La sentenza in commento, con argomenti
convincenti, aiuta a chiarire quali siano i profili intertemporali derivanti da
tale duplice intervento normativo. The repeal of abuse of office crime – a long-standing goal of the current
government majority – has attracted much criticism in legal circles, both from
a political-criminal perspective (a decision that ultimately weakens the protection
of citizens against arbitrary acts by public officials) and from a systematic
perspective, as it may conflict with EU law and international criminalization obligations.
To at least partially resolve the negative effects of this abolitio criminis,
the legislator has decided to insert a new type of offense into Article 314 bis of
the Criminal Code (a sort of ‘new’ embezzlement for misappropriation), shaping
its typicality by ‘cutting out’ the scope of application of the provision to be
abolished in Article 323 of the Criminal Code. The judgment in question, with
convincing arguments, helps to clarify the intertemporal aspects arising from this
dual regulatory intervention
