Teacher educators’ perspectives on literacy
The purpose of this study is to deepen the understanding of literacy perspectives in teacher education by analysing how four primary teacher educators from different disciplines talk about their practice. In dialogic interviews, focal points included what types of activities regarding language and texts the participants mention using in their respective disciplines. The results reveal three main perspectives on literacy: general academic literacy, disciplinary literacy, and professional literacy. A visualization of the results in the form of a model renders visible the three main perspectives as well as overlapping combinations that relate to disciplinary literacy teaching. Thereby, this study contributes a metalanguage that can be used across disciplines by teacher educators to support pre-service teachers’ disciplinary socialisation drawing on the different literacy practices. The complexity of the literacy perspectives merits further research in order to explore different discourses within and between each perspective. Keywords: disciplinary literacy; disciplinary literacy teaching; general academic literacy; primary teacher educators; professional literacy; teacher educationReceived 18 October 2024; revised version received 24 February 2025; accepted 14 March 2025. Research bags : a personal archive of tacit knowledge
This paper describes an alternative approach to presenting artistic, material-based research. Thestarting point was my personal need to present results containing objects, stories, and facts, as well asto communicate tacit knowledge. After researching traditional presentation methods, I designed asystem that met my needs. I call this format "Research Bags." Whenever I accomplish somethingimportant for my research, teaching, or understanding, I visualize it and make it into a tote bag. Thebag's surface is used as a poster. I add a written, formalized text with images to the tote bag. TheResearch Bags and templates will form an archive. Because it is made systematically, it is possible forothers to use the archive.Apart from describing the system of research bags, I discuss the possibilities and challenges of not usinga traditional way of presenting research results
Word Decoding in Focus : An Intervention Study Using Trugs for Students withDecoding Difficulties

A sustainable solution for the hospitality industry : The QR code menus
This case presents a study of how QR code menus have emerged as a popular and sustainable solution for the hospitality industry in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic. The case explores the environmental benefits of QR code menus in the restaurant industry by drawing on existing literature and examining how QR code menus can reduce paper waste, lower carbon footprint, and promote sustainable practices. The case also discusses how QR code menus contribute to several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), such as SDG 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production), SDG 13 (Climate Action), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals). The case concludes that QR code menus offer various benefits for restaurants and customers, such as reducing waste, enhancing customer experience, supporting local and organic food producers, and promoting responsible consumption and production. The case also suggests that QR code menus are not only a digital transformation tool but also a step towards creating a more eco-friendly and resilient restaurant industry
Socialtjänsten som kunskapande praktik : Exemplet individbaserad systematisk uppföljning i öppenvården för barn och familj
The overall aim of this licentiate thesis is to explore what individual-based systematic follow-up of interventions (ISF) in social services means as a knowledge-producing practice. Based on the premise that knowledge is created through processes of creation and re-creation in practice, the study analyzes how these processes are expressed within the ISF practice. Conducted as a case study, it examines ISF in two cases of non-institutional social services for children and families in two Swedish municipalities, using different models for ISF: LOKE (Local Evidence) and FIT (FeedbackInformed Treatment). Empirical material was collected through interviews, observations, and documents. The first article reveals how ISF results are transformed into knowledge when family therapists reflect on the significance of the results. Central to these reflections is the frequent relation of ISF results to the family therapists’ daily work, making the knowledge meaningful for them. The results also highlight the importance of facilitating opportunities for reflection within the ISF practice. The second article examines how ISF is used within and by the organizations. The results show a multifaceted use of both ISU results, and the knowledge derived from them, as well as the ISF models themselves. The results also indicate that the impact of knowledge is often “creeping” and occurs over time, integrating with other information, knowledge, and practical experiences during the process. The final discussion deepens the understanding of the results by relating them to three distinctive parts of the knowledge creation process: from data to information, from information to knowledge, and from knowledge to use. Each section concludes with thoughts on practical implementation. Here, the importance of organizationally creating favorable conditions for maintaining work methods, reflection, and knowledge use are highlighted. Additionally, it is suggested that there needs to be flexibility in ISF work methods to adapt to changes in what the organization perceives as relevant to follow up, in order to promote new knowledge
Autocratization of Venezuela : An analysis of democratic de-consolidation during the time period 2010-2023
This thesis examines the autocratization of Venezuela from 2010 to 2023, focusing on the democratic de-consolidation process through the analytical framework of Juan J. Linz and Alfred Stepan's consolidation theory. The study utilizes the five arenas of democratic consolidation: civil society, political society, rule of law, state apparatus and economic society, to explore how these elements have been systematically weakened, contributing to Venezuela's transition from democracy to an authoritarian regime. By using a qualitative case study design, the research examines the weakening of democratic norms and institutions through both structural factors and the actions of key political actors. Findings highlight the centralization of power, erosion of judicial independence, manipulation of electoral processes and increasing repression of civil society as pivotal mechanisms in Venezuela's shift from democracy to authoritarianism. This research contributes to understanding how autocratic regimes consolidate power incrementally, challenging the resilience of democratic systems in contemporary contexts
Politiskt deltagande i valrörelsen inför riksdagsvalet 2018 : En kvantitativ studie av svenska medborgares deltagande i politiska aktiviteter under valrörelsen utifrån resurser, motivation och rekryterande nätverk
The aim of this paper was to examine how explanatory factors in the civic voluntarism model influence participation in campaign activities during the 2018 election campaign in Sweden. The study examines the impact of socio-economic resources connected to education, occupation and income on political participation in the 2018 election, as well as how political motivation and recruiting networks by being a party member, religiously active and participating in political discussions influenced involvement in election activities. The campaign activities are focused on attending election meetings, watching TV programs about politics and searching or reading about politics on the Internet. The paper uses the civic voluntarism model as a theory, which explains political participation based on resources, engagement and recruitment. The study used multiple regression analysis using data from Survey 2018: En frågeundersökning om befolkningen i Sverige. The main results show that resources did not significantly affect participation in campaign activities, while interest in politics and involvement in recruiting networks did. Those with more interest in politics and active in political parties, religion, or political discussions were more likely to participate in campaign activities. All together, recruitment and engagement had the greatest impact on campaign participation, while resources had little effect
Speech-to-text intervention to support text production for students with intellectual disabilities
Aim: Writing is a multifaceted skill involving planning, transcription, and revision that is challenging for students with intellectual disabilities. Some studies have examined reading abilities. However, there needs to be more research on writing proficiency in this population. Especially concerning writing with the assistance of technologies such as speech-to-text (STT). To contribute to filling the research gap, this study aimed to investigate whether tailored speech-to-text interventions enhance text production for students with intellectual disabilities. Methods: The research utilised a single-subject design involving the participation of four students (three girls and one boy) aged 10–13 years with mild intellectual disabilities in a rural municipality in Sweden. Results: The results of this study revealed significant improvement post-intervention for all four students in word, sentence and text qualities. Conclusions: The findings suggest that STT offers a valuable tool for students with intellectual disabilities struggling with handwriting, providing new opportunities for self-expression. Pedagogical implications are discussed. Is include din the dissertation "Assisterande teknik - att ta till sig och producera text: Ett stöd för elever i anpassad grund- och gymnasieskola" as a manuscript titled: Speech-to-text intervention to support text production for students with intellectual disabilities</p
Svenskars intryck av Anglicismer i professionella sammanhang : En kvantitativ studie
English is emerging as a global lingua franca and is influencing languages worldwide, providing loanwords and new vocabulary to Swedish as well as other languages. This study investigates attitudes towards Anglicisms and examines the role of age in the way Swedes perceive Anglicisms when used in a professional setting. This study used an online survey to extract data on Swedes’ attitudes to Anglicisms in professional settings, and any possible correlations between these attitudes and the ages of the 40 respondents in this study. The data showed that Swedes had a generally positive outlook on Anglicisms in professional settings, and that there was no obvious linear correlation between age and attitudes towards the chosen Anglicisms. Age was deemed to be a determining factor to the attitudes in this result in those over 65 years old. Those >65 stood out as the least positive group which could be due to their age. Further research would be needed to investigate if this result would be replicated and the reasons behind it. Those >65 could have been in less contact with English in earlier years which could explain the results. Other factors that might influence the results are the chosen Anglicisms, number of respondents in the age groups and level of education of the respondents. These results highlight the emergence of English as a lingua franca, particularly within business settings, and suggest that Swedes are receptive to the influence of English on Swedish vocabulary
