Painting a threat : A qualitative study of how Network D is portrayed in local journalism

    No full text

    No full text
This study aims to examine how AI as a new technology affects different aspects of pop music production. Using a media ecological perspective, the study explores how AI influences work processes for producers, as well as professional roles, and notions of creativity and authenticity. The conclusions are based on experiences collected from semi-structured interviews with six professional pop producers. Thematic analysis was used to analyze the interviews, with Postman’s theories of technological change as framework. The findings show that AI is perceived both as an efficiency-enhancing tool and as a challenge that affects creative control, competition and identity. While some producers view AI as a creative collaborator, others refuse to associate it with creativity and authenticity because of copyright issues and lack of human intention. The study contributes with valuable insights into an ongoing technological shift and demonstrates how AI changes relationships between technology, creativity and professional identity.

Who does the TikTok generation trust? : A study about how swedish TikTok users perceives trustworthiness for content creators versus journalists

    No full text
This study researches how young adults in Sweden perceive informative TikTok videos from influencers and journalists. This study's purpose was to research if there is a difference in perceived trustworthiness between journalists and influencers. We wanted to research this because of the growth of TikTok and content creators that share information. Blurred lines between journalists and other communicators, such as influencers, keep getting blurrier. The blurred lines and digitalism is something that keeps expanding. The study contributes to research about perceived trustworthiness for different communicators published news or information on social media. The study is based on 26 respondents' answers in an online survey. Respondents in this study were between ages 18-25 and were users of TikTok. The survey contained six TikToks with questions following each TikTok. Half of the TikToks were published by journalists and the other half from influencers. Results in this study were analyzed both quantitatively and qualitatively. This because of the survey's structure, respondents could answer both with multichoice questions and by writing freely. The results show that TikTok videos from journalists are perceived as somewhat more trustworthy than videos from influencers. The difference between videos from journalists and influencers was however not that big. Expertise was the most common reason for the respondent's perseveration of trustworthiness. Expertise was also shown more for journalists videos than influencers. The theme that was identified most often was source criticism, which was identified four times for both the influencers videos and the journalist videos. Our conclusion is that the blurred lines between journalists and influencers together with an experienced expertise are two important factors to understand why different creators are perceived differently. Especially when it comes to TikTok videos where the information has a lower credibility.

Cannabis use among young people has become an increasingly debated issue in Sweden, particularly in relation to shifting attitudes toward drugs and the country’s long-standing zerotolerancedrug policy. In this context, social workers occupy a central position in balancingsupport, prevention, and control when working with young people who use cannabis. Thisstudy aims to explore how social workers construct their understandings of young people whouse cannabis and how they describe their professional role in this work. The study is based on a qualitative research design and by a social constructionist perspective.Empirical data were collected through eight semi-structured interviews with social workersworking with young people in a medium-sized Swedish municipality. The material wastranscribed verbatim and analysed using thematic analysis, guided by labelling theory, concepts of destigmatisation, and Goffman’s dramaturgical perspective. The findings indicate that social workers express an explicit intention to avoid stereotypicaland stigmatizing portrayals, often emphasizing that cannabis use can occur among youngpeople from diverse social backgrounds. At the same time, descriptions of the young peopleencountered in practice frequently link cannabis use to psychosocial difficulties such asmental health problems, school failure, and social exclusion. Furthermore, social workersportray their professional role as relational and adaptive, with a strong focus on trust, individualisation, and youth participation, while simultaneously navigating structuralconstraints related to legislation, organisational frameworks, and zero-tolerance drug policy. The study concludes that social workers professional role is characterised by a tensionbetween destigmatising ambitions and institutional conditions that risk reproducing problemorientedconstructions of young cannabis users

Social media has become a central place for travel inspiration for young adults and has been linked with feelings of FoMO. This thesis investigates how social media exposure influences travel decision-making among Generation Z travellers, with emphasis on travel-related FoMO and social comparison. Grounded on Fear of Missing Out Theory, Social Comparison Theory and Self-Determination Theory the study examines how different forms of travel content, such as short videos and photos, contribute to FoMO and subsequently affect travel intentions, aiming to fill up a knowledge gap. Furthermore, a quantitative research approach was chosen, using an online survey distributed to Generation Z individuals residing in Europe. Data was collected from 291 valid respondents and later on analyzed with the use of descriptive statistics, reliability tests, correlation analysis, and linear regressions using IBM SPSS (Version 31) programme. The study measured variables such as personal FoMO, social FoMO, social media usage, demographics, travel intentions using a 5-point Likert scale. The findings indicate that both Personal and Social FoMO were relevant to travel intentions, and social comparison emerged as a main driving factor for FoMO. Short videos and exposure to travel-related photos were influential in triggering FoMO responses. This research contributes to the growing literature relating to social media, FoMO, and tourism, providing empirical insights into Generation Z’s travel intentions and processes. The findings offer knowledge that can be useful to tourism businesses and also put emphasis on psychological consequences of FoMO-driven digital environments

Diversity of DNA viruses in the atmosphere of sub-Antarctic South Georgia

    No full text
Studying airborne viruses in remote environments like the sub-Antarctic island of South Georgia offers key insights into viral ecology, diversity, and their role in shaping ecosystems through microbial and nutrient interactions. We analyzed airborne viral community composition at two sites in South Georgia. Sampling took place using multiple methodologies, with the data produced subjected to viral metagenomics. The Coriolis μ device (wet collection) was the most effective, yielding 30 viral scaffolds. Two-thirds of the scaffolds were only obtained from the coastal location, indicating that location influences airborne viral diversity. Protein-based clustering of 39 viral operational taxonomic units (vOTUs) revealed similarities of 15 with known marine viruses, suggesting oceanic influence on the airborne viral community. Protein homologs related to UV damage protection and photosynthesis from two airborne vOTUs were widely distributed across major oceans, suggesting their potential role in supporting the resilience of marine microorganisms under changing climate conditions. Some vOTUs had protein similarities to viruses infecting extremophiles, indicating viral adaptations to harsh environments. This study provides a baseline for understanding the complexity and sustainability of airborne viral communities in remote ecosystems. It underscores the need for continued monitoring to assess how these communities respond to shifting atmospheric and ecological conditions

Drama that open doors : Possibilities and challenges of using drama in the Swedish education in grades 4-6

    No full text
