När säkerhet leder till osäkerhet : En analys av Kina och Japan i det Östkinesiska havet
This study aims to examine how China´s increased power and securityenhancing actions in the East China Sea have changed Japan´s security policy during the period 1995-2025. By using a qualitative case study and a process tracing, the analysis applies neorealism and rational-choice-theory to explore the causal mechanisms that link China´s military growth and economic power to Japan´s changing defense policy. These findings indicate that a security dilemma is taking form between the two countries. Whereby mutual defense capabilities have increased the instability in the East China Sea.
Health-Related Quality of Life and Long-Term Survival After Cardiac Arrest
Importance Health-related quality of life (HRQOL) follow-up can increase knowledge of cardiac arrest outcomes from the patient’s perspective. Whether HRQOL affects long-term survival is unknown. Objective To investigate whether HRQOL 3 to 6 months after cardiac arrest is associated with long-term survival. Design, Setting, and Participants This cohort study linked 5 national registers with nationwide coverage in Sweden across a 7-year period and included survivors of in-hospital cardiac arrest (IHCA) or out-of-hospital cardiac arrest (OHCA) between January 1, 2014, and December 31, 2019, with follow-up through June 30, 2021. Participants were adults surviving at least 90 days after IHCA or OHCA who completed follow-up EuroQoL 5-dimension 5-level (EQ-5D-5L) tool questionnaires. Analyses were performed December 2 to 20, 2024. Exposures EQ-5D-5L level sum score (LSS; sum of EQ-5D-5L dimensions, ranging from 5 [no problems] to 25 [extreme problems in all dimensions]), and the visual analog scale EQ VAS, 3 to 6 months after cardiac arrest. Main Outcome and Measures Long-term survival up to a maximum of 7 years among patients surviving IHCA and OHCA. Results In total, 2000 survivors of IHCA (median [IQR] age, 73 [65-80] years, 66% male) and 1108 survivors of OHCA (median [IQR] age, 69 [59-75] years, 77% male) were included. There were 475 deaths among patients with IHCA and 132 deaths among patients with OHCA. For patients with IHCA, the LSS distribution was 394 (20%) for LSS 5, 1034 (52%) for LSS 6 to 10, and 572 (29%) for LSS 11 to 25. For patients with OHCA, the LSS distribution was 299 (27%) for LSS 5, 637 (58%) for LSS 6 to 10, and 168 (15%) for LSS 11 to 25. In the IHCA population, LSS 11 to 25 had higher hazard of death compared with LSS 5 (adjusted hazard ratio [AHR], 2.50 [95% CI, 1.82-3.43]), whereas LSS 6 to 10 did not (AHR, 1.21 [95% CI, 0.88-1.65]). In OHCA, no associations were found between LSS categories and long-term survival (LSS 11-25 vs LSS 5: AHR, 1.41 [95% CI, 0.83-2.42]; LSS 6-10 vs LSS 5: AHR, 0.88 [95% CI, 0.56-1.39]). In both IHCA and OHCA, spline modeling using LSS and EQ VAS as continuous variables showed significant increases in hazards of death with poorer HRQOL, although the estimates in the OHCA population showed greater uncertainty. Conclusions and Relevance In this cohort study of patients who survived beyond 90 days after IHCA or OHCA, poorer HRQOL reported with EQ-5D-5L scores 3 to 6 months after cardiac arrest was associated with reduced long-term survival in both groups, with greater uncertainty for OHCA estimates. HRQOL assessment may help guide follow-up care
The evolution of molecular dynamics as a tool for the study and development of molecularly imprinted materials : status quo, quo vadis?
The past two decades have witnessed the introduction of and then a steady increase in the use of computational techniques in the study and development of molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs). Molecular dynamics (MD) based studies have had a significant role in this development as they can provide insights concerning the mechanisms governing the molecular level events underlying MIP synthesis and MIP-ligand interactions and can be used for the identification of preferred monomer compositions and for the prediction of MIP properties. We here review the role that MD has played in the development of molecular imprinting and examine the different types of MD strategies that have been used, including their advantages and challenges. Recent trends in the application of MD to the study of MIPs are presented, along with a perspective on the future importance of MDbased studies for the development of molecular imprinting science and technology
Recovery at work and its relationship to well-being and job performance : A quantitative study of recovery during working hours.
This study examined the extent to which employees engage in recovery during working hours and how this relates to job performance and well-being. A questionnaire study was conducted with 124 participants and included measures of recovery using the REQ-W (Control, Relaxation, Mastery, and Psychological Detachment), job performance using the IWPQ, and selected subscales from COPSOQ III. Two hypotheses proposed that recovery would be positively related to job performance and well-being, respectively; both received partial support. The results showed that only Control predicted job performance, whereas Relaxation and Mastery predicted self-rated health. Job performance was negatively related to quantitative demands and positively related to variation at work. Social community emerged as the strongest predictor of recovery during working hours. Overall, the findings indicated that recovery during working hours was important for well-being, while only certain recovery processes contribute to job performance, highlighting the role of supportive and varied working conditions for sustainable working life

In-between trust and control : A critical discourse analysis of referral responses to the inquiry Ds 2024:30
In 2024, the government introduced an inquiry, Ds 2024:30, which was intended to grant social services expanded powers when consent was not available. The purpose of this study is to critically analyze the consultation responses to the inquiry Ds 2024:30 in order to examine how the concept of preventive work is expressed and oriented discursively in relation to the tension between trust and control, and to create an understanding of how the discursive expressions can be understood from a professional perspective. A critical discourse analysis has been used to answer the questions. It is the consultation responses to the inquiry Ds 2024:30 that have been analyzed, and the results show that there are three different discourses. One about prevention as a concept, one about the ideological starting point of preventive work, and one about the connection of preventive work to evidence and knowledge. What we have been able to conclude is that we have not been able to derive any clear definition of what preventive work in social work should entail without it being a value-neutral concept. There is a discursive tension between a trust- and relationship-based interpretation of preventive work versus a control- and discipline-based interpretation
Between the heart and the guidelines
Emotional labor is a central part of social workers professional practice, yet the management of the emotional demands that arise in their work is often given limited attention. This study aims to examine how social workers are emotionally affected by their work and to explore the strategies they use to manage these emotions. The study is based on semi‑structured interviews with social workers. The results show that social workers are influenced in their emotional labour both by organizational frameworks and by their encounters with clients. Social workers face strong emotional demands in their interactions with clients and often need to regulate their own feelings in order to maintain a professional approach. Participants describe emotional labor as both meaningful and burdensome, and note that insufficient support or reflection can increase the risk of emotional exhaustion. At the same time, the findings indicate that social workers develop individual strategies for managing emotions, such as seeking collegial support, setting boundaries, and using personal routines. The study highlights the importance of recognizing the extent of emotional labour—both in general and within organizations—and of providing structures that strengthen social workers ability to handle emotional demands in a sustainable way.
“It's the price I have to pay for my freedom” : A qualitative study on women's experiences of honor-related violence
This study explores women´s narratives of honour-based violence through a feminist and intersectional lens. Using narrative analysis, the empirical material consits of personal accounts from the swedish documentary series En våldsam heder, depicting experiences of forced marriage, female genital mutilation, and honour killing. The findings reveal recurring themes of social control, restricted agency, and internalised norms related to honour and shame. These structures are shown to be collectively enforced and rooted in patriarchal power relations, further intensified in migration contexts. The study also highlights how the women demonstrate resistance and negotiate their agency despite severe limitations. By centering the voices of women exposed to honour-based violence, the study contributes to a deeper understanding of how gendered power and cultural norms shape their lived realities and possibilities for freedom.
A Critical Discourse Analysis of the Sweden Democrats’ Climate Rhetoric
Across Europe, right‑wing parties have increasingly challenged mainstream climate policy through narratives of scepticism, delay, and national protectionism. Sweden’s shift from a climate leadership toward a more nationally oriented and sceptical climate stance reflects this wider trend, coinciding with the growing influence of the Sweden Democrats (SD), yet little research has examined the discursive mechanisms behind this transformation. This thesis investigates how the SD construct and legitimise their climate positions through discourse, asking which frames and rhetorical devices shape their narrative, how populist logic structures their portrayal of climate policy, and how they challenge dominant interpretations of climate responsibility. Using Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) supported by Framing Theory and Populist Theory, the study analyses 19 official SD documents published between 2010 and 2025, including motions, manifestos, speeches, party programs, and budget proposals. The findings indicate that the SD consistently employs frames of national sovereignty, economic realism, stewardship, and global insignificance, reinforced through a people‑versus‑elite narrative that casts climate policy as burdensome and externally imposed. While the rhetorical content remains stable across time, its authority increases as SD gain parliamentary influence, enabling these discursive strategies to shift from oppositional critique to institutionalised policy influence despite the party not holding cabinet positions. The thesis concludes that SD’s discourse plays a central role in reframing Sweden’s climate identity toward “climate realism,” demonstrating how stable rhetorical patterns can reshape national climate governance as political power expands
