Strategic harmony in hospitality: the case of Multazam Syariah Hotel, Surakarta
This case study examines the strategic trajectory of Multazam Syariah Hotel, a three-star Shariah-compliant establishment in Surakarta, Indonesia. Situated strategically near educational and religious institutions, the hotel was developed by the Tiga Serangkai Group to meet the increasing demand for ethical, family-orientated accommodation. Under the leadership of Haji Agung Riyanto, appointed General Manager in 2019, the hotel integrates
Qur’anic values with professional hospitality management through distinctive leadership practices, rigorous human resource screening, and continuous religious education. The hotel’s Shariah certification from the Majelis Ulama Indonesia (MUI) and its adaptive strategies during the COVID-19 pandemic highlight its operational resilience and legitimacy within the halal tourism market. This case critically analyses the hotel's strategic establishment, leadership direction, human capital philosophy, and cultural cohesion, emphasising its faithbased differentiation as a source of sustainable competitive advantage. It also examines the
strategic challenges and opportunities that the halal tourism industry faces as it grows. In a world where hospitality often mirrors secular business models, Multazam Syariah Hotel
stands out as a pioneering example of integrating Qur’anic values with strategic managerial thinking. The hotel is not merely a place to stay; it is a symbolic convergence of faith and commerce, offering travellers a serene, ethical, and spiritually anchored environment. Its establishment near Islamic educational hubs in Surakarta is both opportunistic and visionary, aligning economic foresight with community service. Through this case, students are invited to explore how strategic positioning, religious ethics, and operational excellence can mutually reinforce each other to create a sustainable business model
تصميم وحدة دراسية قائمة على الأسس اللغوية لتعليم العربية لأغراض خاصة: طلبة الطب اليوناني نموذجا = Designing a linguistic-based unit of study for teaching Arabic for special purposes: Unani Medicine students as a model
***** This study focuses on designing a course unit grounded in linguistic fundamentals for teaching Arabic as a foreign language, with a practical model tailored for Unani Medicine students. The aim is to integrate linguistic theory with the development of a practical course unit for Unani Medicine students at the University of Colombo, within the framework of teaching Arabic for specific purposes. The research analyzes core principles of phonology, lexicon, syntax, and derivation, transforming them into practical activities within a course unit that covers topics in nutrition and physiotherapy. Findings indicate that applying linguistic fundamentals to the unit’s design directly enhanced students’ ability to understand basic medical terminology. Dialogue activities simulating real-life medical contexts contributed to the development of communicative competence, in line with the Communicative Approach, which posits that learning occurs through authentic practice. Moreover, students demonstrated the ability to use simple and common linguistic structures in new contexts, suggesting that simplifying grammar and prioritizing practical usage are more beneficial than rote memorization of theoretical rules. Collectively, these findings show that integrating the theoretical dimension (applied linguistics) with the practical dimension (the designed course unit) provides a comprehensive pedagogical framework that can be extended to other medical specializations, underscoring the value of this study for the development of Arabic for Specific Purposes (ASP)
Classification of heart disease with machine learning: a comparison of grid search, random search, and Bayesian Optimization
This study systematically evaluates the effect of hyperparameter optimization on the performance of predictive models by comparing three main techniques: Grid Search, Random Search, and Bayesian Optimization. Four commonly used machine learning algorithms: Logistic Regression (LR), Support Vector Machine (SVM), K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN), and Gradient Boosting were tested on benchmark datasets from the UC Machine Learning Repository. The results of the study show that hyperparameter optimization significantly improves prediction accuracy compared to baseline models, with the optimal method varying across algorithms. Specifically, Random Search achieved the highest accuracy of 0.883333 for Logistic Regression and 0.833333 for Gradient Boosting, while Bayesian Optimization demonstrated superior performance on SVM with an accuracy of 0.883333. Grid Search proved most effective for KNN, achieving an accuracy of 0.866667. A comprehensive analysis using additional metrics such as precision and recall reinforces these findings, showing that accuracy improvements do not come at the expense of other performance metrics. Bayesian Optimization stands out for computational efficiency, especially for complex models, though Grid Search remains relevant for limited hyperparameter spaces. The main contribution of this research is to provide practical guidance for machine learning practitioners on selecting optimization techniques that align with algorithm characteristics. This study also analyses the trade-off between search thoroughness and computational resources required, and provides recommendations for balancing accuracy and efficiency in model development. Although the research results are promising, several limitations need to be acknowledged, including reliance on a single dataset and the need for further validation across multiple domains. Future research could explore hybrid optimization approaches that combine the strengths of various methods, develop adaptive strategies for ensemble models, or conduct more comprehensive evaluations across diverse datasets. By linking theoretical findings to practical applications, this research provides a valuable framework for efficiently optimizing machine learning model
Hantar perut, lidah masuk kem disiplin Ramadan
User datagram protocol parametric analysis for maximum transmission unit in high-definition video transmission for 1080p and 720p
This article analyses the parametric used for Maximum Transmission Unit (MTU) in User Datagram Protocol (UDP) for online video streaming based on 1080p HD video and 720p HD video. Using a one-to-one node network design, this article has offered an investigation of the performance of UDP in NS3. UDP experiences rather considerable packet losses during the simulation procedure by contrasting the pertinent performance indicators. The selection of the video streaming applications over UDP as an example relates the requirements for group video conferencing and the computation of packet sizes. Understanding the simulation's results can help network administrators deal with network problems involving video streaming, video conferencing, or any other applications that might be connected to the associated protocol
Testing blockchain-based systems in the financial domain: a review of the literature
The application of blockchain technology has rapidly seen an increase in adoption and has already been implemented in various areas, including supply chains, the financial sector, government, and healthcare systems. Financial sectors are adopting blockchain technology to react to global economic growth and increasing financial significance. The implementation of blockchain by financial service providers is to improve security, transparency, and efficiency as well as to create more revenue opportunities. Since the
blockchain-based system in the financial sector caters to millions of individuals and handles daily transactions involving trillions of dollars, blockchain-based systems testing is necessary to ensure the blockchain meets its purpose. As blockchain technology continues to evolve, the academic community needs a review of relevant and related literature to identify solutions to newly emerging potential challenges in
blockchain-based systems testing in the financial industry. At the same time, a review of the literature concerning blockchain-based systems testing in the financial sector has yet to be carried out. Hence, this study aims to acquire a deeper understanding of the existing studies of blockchain-based systems in the financial domain and to discuss the
performance and security testing of blockchain-based systems in the financial industry. This study also identifies the significance of blockchain-based systems testing in the
financial domain. This research provides an in-depth review of the current papers on testing blockchain-based systems in the financial domain published between 2017 and 2022. The literature was gathered from several sources and platforms. Based on the literature collected and reviewed in this research, it has become evident that there is a limited number of research available concerning blockchain-based systems testing in
the financial domain. The current state of knowledge on this subject is still in its early stages, with many aspects yet to be explored and discovered
Depression, anxiety, stress, and dry eye disease among Gazan undergraduate health sciences and nursing students: a structural equation modeling study
Purpose: To investigate associations between dry eye disease (DED) symptoms and psychological distress
(depression, anxiety, stress) among undergraduate health sciences and nursing students in the Gaza Strip during
the 2023–2025 conflict period.
Methods: A cross-sectional study used convenience sampling via WhatsApp and face-to-face interviews between 4
February and 29 April 2025. Participants completed a demographic form, the Arabic Ocular Surface Disease
Index (OSDI), and the Arabic Depression Anxiety Stress Scale-8 (DASS-8). Analyses included descriptive statistics, group comparisons, correlations, and structural equation modeling (SEM) with interaction terms; sex was
included as a covariate, and academic year was examined as an exploratory moderator of distress–symptom
associations.
Results: Data from 282 students (190 female, 92 male) were analyzed. OSDI scores were skewed upward (median
25.0, IQR 16.67–33.33). Using OSDI > 12, symptomatic DED prevalence was 87.9 %. OSDI correlated with
depression (r = 0.37), anxiety (r = 0.44), and stress (r = 0.56), all p < 0.001. SEM indicated a stronger unique
association for stress and a smaller, significant association for depression; moderation by academic year was not
statistically significant. The classifier achieved good discrimination for symptomatic status (AUC = 0.829).
Conclusion: Among Gazan health sciences and nursing students, DED symptoms were common and associated
with psychological distress—particularly stress and, to a lesser extent, depression. Sex and academic year did not
show robust effects. Findings support considering mental health within DED management for students in conflict
settings
تحليل كفاءة الطلبة الملايويين الناطقين بالعربية بوصفها لغة ثانية في استخدام النبر في الكلمة = Analysis of the proficiency of Malay students who speak Arabic as a second language in using stress in words
This research aims to elucidate stress in Arabic and Malay, as well as to assess the proficiency of Malay students who speak Arabic as a second language in applying stress to Arabic words. It also examines the phenomena of errors and weaknesses in stress placement among Malay students, along with the factors influencing these findings. The study employed an analytical approach to evaluate the proficiency of Malay students in using Arabic stress. The sample consisted of undergraduate students from the Arabic Department at the International Islamic University Malaysia. Their voices were recorded while reading selected Arabic texts, and data were extracted using Praat software to measure intensity, frequency, and duration. Our study concluded that there is a significant influence of the mother tongue on the use of Arabic stress. Malay grammar, which tends to place stress at the end of words, aligns with our research findings, as the percentage of errors in stress placement at the end of words exceeds that of correct pronunciations. Additionally, the results of the sentence tone analysis indicate that Malay students often lack the emotional expressiveness and linguistic spirit when speaking and delivering speeches in Arabic. Furthermore, we divided the samples into two groups based on gender, finding that the efficiency in using Arabic tone was higher in the female group compared to the male group, as indicated by the percentage of correct tone use in sentences
Association between anticipatory thinking and adolescent depression, anxiety and stress
This is a quantitative study examining the association
between secondary school students’ anticipatory thinking
and their mental health status. The increasing number of
mental health cases such as depression, anxiety and stress
among these vulnerable groups has demonstrated that
mental health literacy intervention to promote better
mental health outcome, remain inadequate to cope with
the challenges. To address the issue, 320 secondary school
students were randomly selected among form four
students of rural and urban areas attending public schools
across several states of Peninsular Malaysia to participate
in the study. Self-administered Anticipatory Thinking Skill
Scales (ATSS) and Depression, Anxiety, Stress Scale (DASS-
21) were employed to measure participants’ anticipatory
thinking skill and their mental health status. The findings
revealed that student participants reported moderate
levels of both anticipatory thinking skills and mental health
symptoms. This suggests that the students generally
possess a functional capacity for engaging in future-
oriented cognitive processes. This inverse relationship
strongly implies that adolescents with higher proficiency in
these cognitive skills are likely to experience better mental
well-being
GNN-based skyline query processing for large-scale and incomplete graphs
Skyline queries are crucial in database management, selecting optimal points from multi-dimensional datasets based on dominance relationships. They are widely used in decision-making, recommendation systems, and data filtering. However, traditional skyline algorithms struggle with large volumes and missing data, leading to high computational costs and inefficiencies. This research proposes a hybrid approach that integrates the ISkyline dominance graph technique with Graph Neural Networks (GNNs) to improve skyline query performance under such conditions. The GNN component is utilized to predict skyline tuples in the presence of missing or incomplete data. Evaluation on both synthetic and real-world datasets demonstrates improved accuracy and efficiency compared with established methods such as ISkyline, SIDS, and OIS. This research demonstrates the potential to improve query processing efficiency and to support applications in e-commerce, finance, and smart data system
