Promoting investment in Takaful insurance through optimized capital inflow strategies

    No full text
This study examines capital inflow strategies in Takaful insurance, focusing on their role in sustaining solvency, managing participants’ fund deficits through qard ḥasan, and supporting long-term growth, thereby balancing Takaful’s ethical mission of mutual assistance with the commercial need to attract sustainable shareholder investment. This study adopts a qualitative and exploratory approach, drawing on secondary data from regulatory frameworks, company reports, and international case studies. Thematic content analysis was applied to assess the role of capital across the Wakalah, Mudarabah, Hybrid, and Waqf models, while comparative case analysis highlighted international best practices. The findings reveal that governance quality, Shariah compliance, transparency, and robust solvency frameworks are critical for building investor confidence, although challenges persist in the form of high compliance costs, limited Shariah-compliant investment instruments, and competitive pressure from conventional insurers. International experiences, particularly in Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, demonstrate that supportive legislative environments, financial innovation, and fintech integration can successfully mobilize capital inflows into Takaful. The originality of this study lies in synthesizing capital strategies across multiple Takaful models and linking them with international experience to generate practical insights. It concludes that harmonized regulation, transparent governance, and technological innovation are essential for strengthening Takaful’s resilience and positioning it as a competitive, ethical, and sustainable alternative in the global financial syste

    No full text
This paper aims to investigate the phenomenological scientific methodology in the study of religion, to ascertain its origin, development, and application from an Islamic perspective. Its goal is to identify the methods used in the study of religion by phenomenologists and then analyse them in the light of Islam, its sources, and the writings of selected Muslim scholars. The study employs both descriptive and analytical methods. The focus of discussion is on (1) the phenomenology of religion, its genesis and meaning; (2) the key characteristics of phenomenological scientific methodology in the study of religion; and (3) analyzing its two key concepts, i.e., the epoché and the eidetic vision from the Islamic point of view. It is argued that studying phenomenological techniques from an Islamic perspective enables researchers to recognise both the negative and positive aspects of the methodology and to understand this area of study more effectively when conducting religious studies. This paper concludes that, although there are strong refutations against the phenomenological scientific methodology of comparative religious studies from an Islamic perspective, it also has an acceptable leve

Perception about Islam, attitude, subjective norms, and behavioural intention in using artificial intelligence among university students

    No full text
Artificial intelligence has increasingly received attention and wide acceptance among university students throughout the world. For Muslims, their behavioural intention in using artificial intelligence ethically is expected to be guided by Islamic teachings. Yet, little is known about the use of artificial intelligence among Muslim students of higher educational institutions. The present study explores how Muslim university students’ perception about Islam, attitude, and subjective norms influence their behavioural intention towards using artificial intelligence in the context of Malaysia. This work extends the understanding of the influence of Islam on Theory of Reasoned Action (TRA) to better explicate one’s behavioural intention in using artificial intelligence. A total of 406 university students in Klang Valley, Malaysia participated in a cross-sectional survey conducted over a three-month period. Perception about Islam, attitude towards using artificial intelligence, and subjective norms were used as the independent variables, while behavioural intention to use artificial intelligence served as the dependent variable. Findings indicate a positive and significant relationship between each independent variable and behavioural intention to use artificial intelligence. Attitude towards AI emerged as the strongest predictor of intention to use AI, while perception on Islam becomes the weakest predictor. This study enhances theoretical insights into technology adoption from the perspectives of TRA and Islamic principles, while also providing practical guidance for developing ethically grounded AI practices within Muslim-majority educational context

Beyond the surface: distinguishing leprosy from fungal mimics – a case report

    No full text
Leprosy, a chronic infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium leprae, remains a significant public health concern in many developing countries, including Malaysia. Continuous monitoring and effective diagnostic strategies are crucial for curbing its transmission. The insidious nature of leprosy, characterised by slow progression and diverse clinical manifestations, often leads to delayed diagnosis, increasing the risk of irreversible nerve damage and subsequent disabilities. We report the case of a 55-year-old man who had leprosy presenting with chronic generalised hypopigmented lesions and was misdiagnosed with a fungal infection. Early detection and accurate differentiation from other hypopigmented skin conditions are crucial for timely intervention and the prevention of long-term complications

القرآن الكريم وتأثيره النّفسي على المتلقّي (دراسة تحليليّة) = The noble Qur’ān and its psychological impact on the recipient (an analytical study)

    No full text
This article aims to show the importance of the psychological impact of the NobleQur’ānon the recipient, whether he is a Muslim or not. The NobleQur’ānis considered the miraculous word of Allah( ﷻ) in its eloquence. If the jinn and mankind were to come together to produce something like it, they wouldneverbe able to do so. It is the everlastingmiracle. It was revealed at a time when pre-Islamic poetry was superior. The Arabs in the pre-Islamic era were greatly influenced by poetry. If the eloquence of poetry strongly affects the recipient’s psychology, the impact of the Holy Qur’ān is much more powerful than that due to its rhetorical and psychological miracle. Scholars such as Imām Abū Sulaymān al-Khaṭṭābī in his book Bayān Iʻjāz al-Qur’ān, al-Rummānī in his book Al-Nukat fī Iʻjāz al-Qur’ān, and ʻAbd al-Qāhir al-Jurjānī in his book al-Risālah al-Shāfiyyah fi al-Iʻjāzhave pointed to the eloquence of the NobleQur’ānand its profound impact on the recipient. This study, using the descriptive-analytical method, has extracted evidence from the works of the aforementioned scholars to demonstrate the extent of al-Qur’ān’s impact on the listener’s psyche. It shows that the effect of the Noble Qur’ānon believers differs from its effect on others. Moreover, it emphasizes the great importance of listening to al-Qur’ānin the present age, in which psychological illnesses have become widespread. People today are in great need of seeking healing, inspiration, and benefitthrough al-Qur’ān

In Malaysia, more than half a million adults, representing 2.5% of the population, are living with four major non-communicable diseases (NCDs): diabetes, hypertension, hypercholesterolemia, and obesity. As for hypertension, 29.2% or 1 in 3 adults in Malaysia have hypertension, and 91% are on blood pressure medications. This includes dihydropyridine calcium channel blockers such as amlodipine, which is commonly used in primary care. We report a case from our primary care clinic involving a 70-year-old man with a known history of primary hypertension who developed painless gum swelling and discomfort while the patient was on T. amlodipine 10 mg. Oral examination showed diffuse gingival hypertrophy involving the upper and right lower gums. The condition resolved completely after discontinuation of the offending drug and substitution with an angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor. This case is notable because the gingival overgrowth developed only after 4 years of amlodipine 10 mg therapy. This paper aims to bring clinicians' attention to these adverse effects of amlodipine, so that timely and effective management can be given to the patient, avoiding complications and unnecessary treatmen
