Islamic ethics: principles, sources, and characteristics
This chapter delves into the multifaceted landscape of Islamic ethics, exploring its foundational principles. Islamic ethics, deeply rooted in the teachings of the Qur’an and Sunnah, offers a unique perspective on morality, guiding individuals in their interactions with others and shaping their ethical conduct. The chapter begins by dissecting the division of ethics, which traditionally encompasses normative ethics, metaethics, and applied ethics. Through this lens, one gains insight into the theoretical frameworks and practical applications that underpin Islamic ethical discourse. Moreover, the chapter explores the sources of ethics in Islam, namely the Qur’an and Sunnah, as the primary repositories of divine guidance and moral injunctions.
A crucial aspect of Islamic ethics is its interrelationship with fiqh and Sufism. While fiqh provides the legal framework for ethical conduct, Sufism offers a spiritual dimension that emphasizes the inner transformation of the individual. This analysis explores how these two branches of Islamic thought complement each other, thereby enriching the ethical landscape with their distinct perspectives. Additionally, it outlines the characteristics of Islamic ethics, highlighting its universal principles, focus on intentionality, and commitment to justice and equality. Through the examination of these key elements, this discussion aims to offer a comprehensive understanding of Islamic ethics and its role in guiding individuals toward moral excellence and spiritual fulfillment
Antiseizure medications: advancements, challenges, and prospects in drug development
Epilepsy is a neurological disorder affecting millions of people worldwide. Antiseizure medications (ASM) remain a critical therapeutic intervention for treating epilepsy, notwithstanding the rapid development of other therapies. There have been substantial advances in epilepsy medications over the past three decades, with over 20 ASMs now available commercially. Here we describe the conventional and unique mechanisms of action of ASMs, focusing on everolimus, cannabidiol, cenobamate, fenfluramine, and ganaxolone, the five most recently marketed ASMs. Major obstacles in the development of ASMs are also addressed, particularly drug-resistant epilepsy as well as psychiatric and behavioral adverse effects of ASMs. Moreover, we delve into the mechanisms and comparative efficacy of ASM polytherapy, with remarks on the benefits and challenges in their application in clinical practice. In addition, the characteristics of the ideal ASM are outlined in this review. The review also discusses the development of new potential ASMs, including modifying existing ASMs to improve efficacy and tolerability. Furthermore, we expound on the modulation of γ-aminobutyric acid type A receptor (GABAAR) as a strategy for the treatment of epilepsy and the identification of a GABAAR agonist, isoguvacine, as a potential AS
Housing Redevelopment Schemes (HRS): Islamic green finance perspective
A considerable number of residential housing projects exhibit an antiquity exceedingly almost three decades. This temporal protraction raises concerns regarding the structural integrity of these buildings and underscores the compounded ramifications associated with their aged infrastructure. Islamic green-compliant financing plays centric role in offering dynamic schemes aimed to upscale the societal welfare holistically. Literature proves strong nexus exists between Islamic finance and green finance. This study intends to explore the viability of HRS (Housing Redevelopment Scheme) model in the redevelopment initiatives in Klang Valley, Malaysia. HRS model applying Shariah compliant arrangement has been proposed to efficiently deal with the issue. The research involves primary data which is collected from semi-structured interviews conducted with experts from various backgrounds. Thematic analysis was used to examine the data. Potentially the experts portray their support on the suitability of HRS model as it benefits the stakeholders on the housing sustainability, house quality improvement, addresses housing shortages, enhance neighborhood, and eventually brings economic prosper to the nation. This paper adds to the literature on Islamic green finance in cultivating sustainable development

Results indicate RPA applications are able to produce positive impacts towards the industries business processes. Further in this paper, RPA offers a lot of improvements in terms of speed, quality, efficiency to complete certain automated tasks and helps reduce the processing time and cost in the performance
Investigation and comparative analysis of materials, efficiency, and design in microbial electrolysis cells for biomethane production
The escalating global demand for energy and the imperative to address greenhouse gas emissions have spurred the exploration of alternative energy
sources. Microbial Electrolysis Cells (MECs) have emerged as a promising technology, converting organic compounds into electrical energy and hydrogen gas. A recent breakthrough, namely a hybrid (H-MEC) system, integrates electromethanogenesis to convert CO2 to methane, offering a novel avenue for efficiently harnessing renewable energy and mitigating emissions. This paper underscores the significance of optimizing the design, materials,
and operational strategies to enhance the scalability and efficiency of MECbased electromethanogenesis. Traditional anaerobic digestion processes, converting biomass residues and food waste into hydrocarbon bioenergy, are
being redefined through the integration of H-MECs. This integration presents opportunities for improved effluent treatment, heightened methane production, and the generation of valuable compounds. Recent studies reveal
the remarkable ability of ionic conductivity and electrochemical reactions within bacteria to synthesize hydrocarbons, emphasizing factors such as
microbes, biofilm development, substrates, and electrode surfaces for amplified methane yields. H-MECs demonstrate exceptional versatility in consuming diverse substances, notably untreated food waste, positioning them as potent microbial biocatalysts. The diligent exploration of this domain
has given rise to various H-MEC technologies for hydrogen generation and carbon dioxide reduction. This review delves into the mechanisms and methodologies of H-MECs for electromethanogenesis through varied biochemical reactions, shedding light on single or double-chambered MEC
Contemporary issues in Qiwamah within the family institution
Qiwamah is the foundation for building a Muslim family. We cannot establish a stable and excellent nation without first building a stable family, as it ensures family stability and educational well-being within a Muslim family. However, there has been widespread debate in understanding its meaning, especially among those influenced by modernist and orientalist ideas. Therefore, this topic is of great importance and deserves special attention so that it can be properly understood

صور الحيل في عقود المرابحة في المصارف الإسلامية دراسة تحليلية = image of tricks in Murabaha contract in Islamic banks: an analytical study
Murabaha to the purchase orderer is one of the most commonly used financing modes in Islamic banking, as it offers a Sharia-compliant alternative to interest-based lending by requiring the bank to first purchase and own the asset, then sell it to the client with a disclosed profit. However, real-world application has revealed serious deviations from these principles, turning the contract into a tool of deception that undermines its legitimacy. The research identifies recurring patterns of non-compliance in several financial institutions, which indicate systemic weaknesses in Sharia governance and internal control frameworks.
Among the most critical deceptive practices observed are: signing the Murabaha contract before the bank acquires ownership or actual possession of the asset, which violates a core condition of the contract; allowing the client to act as the bank’s agent and then purchase the asset for themselves, thus creating a prohibited dual role; and using Murabaha to cover prior debts or provide disguised cash disbursements through fictitious sales, thereby reducing the transaction to an interest-bearing loan in form and substance.
This research, using a descriptive and analytical methodology, seeks to expose the gap between classical Sharia theory and modern banking practices. Drawing upon contemporary fatwas, real case studies, and regulatory standards issued by Sharia supervisory boards, the study emphasizes that resolving these violations requires not only the formal existence of Sharia boards, but also their empowerment, independence, and effectiveness. Furthermore, it calls for comprehensive training for Islamic banking staff in both jurisprudence and operational compliance. Ultimately, it urges the implementation of strict oversight mechanisms to safeguard the ethical essence of Islamic finance and maintain public trust in its institutions
From minor defect to major relief: a case series on nonsurgical management of minor’s syndrome
Superior semicircular canal dehiscence (SSCD) is a vestibular disorder caused by a defect in the bony roof of the superior semicircular canal, resulting in auditory and vestibular symptoms. While surgical intervention is the standard treatment, nonsurgical options may offer symptom relief with fewer risks. We present two cases of SSCD, both experiencing dizziness and auditory symptoms. These patients were successfully managed with nonsurgical interventions, including ear protection and hearing aids, avoiding surgery. High-resolution computed tomography of the temporal bone and vestibular evoked myogenic potentials were critical in diagnosing SSCD, confirming anatomical defects and abnormal vestibular function. Nonsurgical strategies provided effective symptom relief but required ongoing adjustments, highlighting the need for thorough patient counseling to manage long-term expectations. This case series underscores the importance of individualized care in SSCD management. Future research should focus on optimizing nonsurgical therapies to improve long-term outcomes, offering viable alternatives to surgery
