including schools. The American Heart Association recommends incorporating CPR training and AED education in schools to improve emergency response. Teachers, as caregivers, are encouraged to enhance their knowledge of CPR and AED to increase the survival rate of cardiac arrest victims. This study aimed to identify knowledge, attitude, practice, and barriers toward performing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and automated external defibrillation (AED) among school teachers. A quantitative cross-sectional study was conducted among 91 school teachers using a questionnaire covering five sections: sociodemographics, CPR and AED knowledge, attitudes, practices, and barriers. Data were analyzed using SPSS version 20.0, with descriptive statistics, ANOVA, and t-tests applied. Gender was significantly associated with attitude and practice, but no sociodemographic variables were associated with knowledge (p > 0.05). Educational training on CPR and AED can greatly improve school teachers' knowledge and skills

Advances in Huntington’s disease biomarkers: a 10-year bibliometric analysis and a comprehensive review

Neurodegenerative disorders (NDs) cause progressive neuronal loss and are a significant public health concern, with NDs projected to become the second leading global cause of death within two decades. Huntington’s disease (HD) is a rare, progressive NDcaused by an autosomal-dominant mutation in the huntingtin (HTT) gene, leading to severe neuronal loss in the brain and resulting in debilitating motor, cognitive, and psychiatric symptoms. Given the complex pathology of HD, biomarkers are essential for performing early diagnosis, monitoring disease progression, and evaluating treatment efficacy. However, the identification of consistent HD biomarkers is challenging due to the prolonged premanifest HD stage, HD’s heterogeneous presentation, and its multiple underlying biological pathways. This study involves a 10-year bibliometric analysis of HDbiomarker research, revealing key research trends and gaps. The study also features a comprehensive literature review of emerging HD biomarkers, concluding the need for better stratification of HD patients and well-designed longitudinal studies to validate HD biomarkers. Promising candidate wet HD biomarkers— including neurofilament light chain protein (NfL), microRNAs, the mutant HTT protein, and specific metabolic and inflammatory markers— are discussed, with emphasis on their potential utility in the premanifest HD stage. Additionally, biomarkers reflecting brain structural deficits and motor or behavioral impairments, such as neurophysiological (e.g., motor tapping, speech, EEG, and event-related potentials) and imaging (e.g., MRI, PET, and diffusion tensor imaging) biomarkers, are evaluated. The findings underscore that the discovery and validation of reliable HD biomarkers urgently require improved patient stratification and well-designed longitudinal studies. Reliable biomarkers, particularly in the premanifest HD stage, are crucial for optimizing HD clinical management strategies, enabling personalized treatment approaches, and advancing clinical trials of HD-modifying therapies

    Get PDF
There has been a growing body of research on the influence of social environment on mental well-being. Bronfenbrenner’s Ecology Systems theory has proposed an extensive description of components and relationships of the social ecology of a person for their growth. However, there is a paucity of tools available for mental health professionals in implementing the theory within their practice. Therefore, this study aimed to develop and validate a tool to explore the social ecology of a person to aid understanding the influence of this on the state of mental well-being. Methods: This study developed instructions to draw and explore social ecology and established several validities evidence. Content validity used item-related content validity index employing five experts in psychiatry, psychology, and counselling to review the instructions for the tool. Face validity was established using a face validity index among ten working adults. Finally, criterion-related validity was established by improvement in mental health self-efficacy measured using the Mental Health Confidence Scale among 41 working adults. Descriptive analysis used frequency and percentage for categorical variables and mean and standard deviation for numerical variables. Inferential analysis used paired-sample t-test analysed on SPSS 29. Results: The My Sejahtera Ecology Map (MySEM) tool showed good content and face validity indices ranging from 0.80 to 1.00. Mental health self-efficacy showed significant improvement in optimism (p < 0.05) and factor coping (p < 0.001) after the MySEM activity. Conclusion: The tool has promising benefits in improving mental health self-efficacy through increasing factor-coping and optimism. The MySEM tool provided a standardised approach to apply the Bronfenbrenner’s Ecology Systems theory for use by mental health professionals

مبدأ اعتبار المآلات على الفتاوى المتضاربة في ماليزيا: دراسة فقهية مقارنة لفتاوى الزواج بين المسلمين والكتابيات = Principle of consideration of the consequences (Iʿtibār alMaʾālāt) on the conflicting fatāwā in Malaysia about the interfaith marriage between Muslims and the women from the people of the book: a comparative juristic analysis

    No full text
There are two main fatwā institutions in Malaysia which discuss the problems faced by the Muslim community. These institutions are the state fatwā institutions, which exist in every state and the national fatwā council, which issues a ruling on the national level. The existence of these institutions with independent legislative jurisdiction has led to disagreements and conflicts in Malaysian fatāwā issues. One of the conflicting issues is the ruling on the permissibility of the interfaith marriage between Muslims and the People of the Book. It is very significant to examine this issue in light of the principle of consideration of the consequences (iʿtibār al-maʾālāt) in order to investigate whether the permissibility of this marriage in the context of Malaysia will bring maṣlaḥah, or the common good to the society. Therefore, this paper explores the opinions of Muslim scholars related to this issue in light of their consequences which will determine the appropriate ruling in the context of Malaysia. Analytical and comparative methodologies are employed to elaborate on the perspectives of scholars and the fatāwā pertaining to this issue. This study demonstrates that even though the general ruling for marrying the women from the People of the Book is permissible, the permission will bring great harm to the Islamic familial system. Thus, the researcher concurs with the fatwā that prohibits marrying the women from the People of the Book based on the principle of consideration of the consequences

    Get PDF
This research aims to shed light on the issue of divorce within the family framework by analysing the causes leading to divorce and clarifying its negative effects on the Muslim community in Yala Province. The study also seeks to review the solutions proposed by the Islamic Council in divorce cases, focusing on the jurisprudential and legal aspects of these solutions. The researchers developed a primary research tool using the inductive method to trace the opinions of jurists by gathering relevant information from their works. A field study conducted involving interviews, visits, and follow-ups with the Shariah judge and members of the Islamic Council in Yala Province. Among the key findings, the researchers identified the main causes of the high divorce rate in Yala Province: negligence of the husband's obligations toward the wife, lack of fairness between wives, involvement in drug and alcohol abuse, and ignorance of proper Islamic family laws. The study emphasizes the need for cooperation between Islamic councils and all relevant parties to address family issues within the community, especially at the governmental level, to promote a peaceful society and resolve family problems in general

    No full text
The Messengers of Ūlū al ‘Azm were distinguished Prophets who held high positions and exerted significant influence in their societies. they shared similar Practices and approaches in addressing challenges in their social lives. Their determination and patience in improving the community is seen in the Qur'an and Sunnah. So this research seeks to uncover the habits of Ūlū al Āzm in their social life and reveal the meanings contained therein based on the verses of the Qur'an and Hadith. This research uses the descriptive method of analysis to look at the habits in social life experienced by the Ūlū al Āzmi prophets. Among the conclusions of this study is that the Apostle Ūlū al Āzm both have noble morals, because the Apostle Ūlū al Āzm applies social values that are guided by Allah Ta'ala, as for the differences in times and social conditions experienced by the Apostle Ūlū al Āzm are different but if there are causes and characteristics that are repeated they will use the same approach in improving and restoring social values in their society, because all social values and the ultimate criteria for good and bad social behavior are rooted in divine revelation
