Exploring Sweden’s Muslim minority: past, present, and future
This paper explores the historical evolution, contemporary challenges, and future
potential solutions of the Muslim minority in Sweden. It aims to trace the Muslim presence from
its origins in the late 19th century, largely associated with economic migration, to the significant
demographic transformations brought by the 20th century waves of immigrants and refugees. Such
developments shaped the cultural and religious fabric of Swedish society. Despite Sweden’s
reputation for tolerance and equality, the Muslim minority continues to witness challenges in the
form of discrimination, socioeconomic disparities, and obstacles to full social integration.
Qualitative analysis methods are used in the entire study. This research paper identifies potential
solutions, including enhanced cultural understanding, educational initiatives, and policies aimed
at reducing disparities, which aim to facilitate the Muslim minority’s full participation in Swedish

Contextualized idealism: Mohammed Abusalih Mohammed Mansoor’s quest for Islamic reform in contemporary Sri Lanka
Mohammed Abusalih Mohammed Mansoor, commonly known as “Ustādh Mansoor”or “MAM Mansoor”by his followers and the general public, has emerged as a prominent advocate for Islamic reform in Sri Lanka over the last threedecades. As a dedicated scholar of the modern evolution of Islam, Mansoorisa key figure within the reformist Islamic intellectual circles in the country. His ideas reflect the complexities and dynamics of Islamic reform within Sri Lanka’s religious landscape, which has often been overlooked compared to the broader context of Islam in the subcontinent. Relying on primary and secondary sources and employing thematic content analysis, this paper aims to address this oversight by exploring Mansoor’s reformist discourses and their implications for shaping the concept of contextualized idealism. Mansoordefines this concept as the process of adapting global developments in Islamic thought to local contexts. The paper arguesthat while Mansoor’s reformist ideas may not significantly contribute to the global discourse on Islamic reform in terms of originality, his uniqueness lies in his ability to relate global ideas to the local sociopolitical realities of the country.Finally, it concludesthat Mansoor’sproject has effectivelypositioned him as an alternative religious authority, challenging traditional theological and legal institutions in the country
Zakat distribution and Islamic human development: a sequential explanatory study
This study examines the impact of zakat distribution across five key sectors; education, health, humanitarian, economic, and da'wah, on the Islamic Human Development Index (IHDI) in Indonesia from 2015 to 2022. Employing a sequential explanatory design, quantitative data were analyzed using regression techniques, followed by qualitative insights from focus group discussions with zakat management institutions. The findings reveal significant positive effects of zakat distribution in the economic and humanitarian sectors on IHDI improvement. While the da’wah and health sectors exhibit negative effects, possibly due to a short-term orientation that limits measurable development outcomes. The education sector shows an insignificant impact, highlighting the need for long-term strategies. This study provides policy recommendations to optimize zakat distribution for sustainable human development, emphasizing productive utilization aligned with the principles of maqasid al-shariah (objectives of Islamic law)
2 µm mode-locked pulse generation using nickel metal-organic framework (Ni-MOF) coated arc-shaped fiber
Metal-organic framework (MOF) is an emergent material that consists of metal ions and highly porous organic ligands. In this study, we demonstrate a 2 μm all-fibre mode-locked thulium/holmium-doped fiber laser (THDFL) by utilizing a nickel-based MOF (Ni-MOF) as a saturable absorber (SA) material. For the fabrication of the SA, the material was drop-casted on an arc-shaped fiber. The SA showed a 19.98 MW/cm2 saturation intensity and an exceptionally high modulation depth of 15.3 , surpassing previously reported materials in this wavelength range. The laser output centered at 1907.66 nm with an average power reaching up to 2.057 mW. The fundamental pulse rate and width were 14.30 MHz and 1.664 ps, respectively. Consequently, the THDFL generates pulses with an energy of 175 pJ and a peak power of 105 W. Mode-locked operation proved stable as the laser was observed over 2 h and showed a signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) of about 48 dB. Notably, this work represents the first demonstration of Ni-MOF as an SA in a THDFL, opening new avenues for ultrafast fiber laser development
Electronic nose for evaluation of banana ripeness monitoring
Abstract—Food security remains a global challenge, with postharvest
losses and food waste identified as major contributors to
the issue. One of the underlying problems is the inability to
consistently evaluate fruit quality using existing methods.
Conventional approaches such as human graders, gas
chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS), and image
recognition are often limited by high cost, destructive testing, or
inconsistent accuracy. This creates the need for a more practical
and reliable solution. Electronic nose (e-nose) systems have
emerged as a promising technology for food and fruit quality
assessment due to their rapid analysis, repeatability, low cost,
and high efficiency. This paper presents a design and
development of e-nose system for fruit ripeness evaluation. The
proposed system analyses volatile organic compounds (VOC)
emitted from fruit samples to determine their maturity stage.
The sensing unit consists of eight metal oxide semiconductor
(MOS) sensors, while data acquisition is performed using an
Arduino microcontroller. Experimental evaluation was
conducted using Cavendish bananas. The developed system
successfully classified the fruits into unripe, ripe, and overripe
categories with 100% accuracy on test samples. The results
demonstrate that the e-nose system can provide consistent and
repeatable measurements for ripeness evaluation

This study aims at deriving critical thinking characteristics and standards in the light of Prophet Ibrahim’s dialogues pertaining to ‘Aqidah which are mentioned in the Quran as means of integrating revealed knowledge and human science knowledge. The significance of the study is apparent in relating the science of ‘Aqidah to critical thinking aspects through contextual analysis of the above-mentioned debates to clarify the manifestation of critical thinking standards in these selected Quranic verses, as to utilize it in contemporary dawah dialogues, to disseminate the message of Tawhid and to promote the culture of dialogue among Muslim communities. The added value of the study is to emphasize precedence of Quranic reveled texts in advocating critical thinking and its standards before the Western scholars embarked on.
The researchers applied inductive method by exploring the narrated scholastic exegesis regarding the selected verses then applying the analytical method to verify the Quranic promotion of critical thinking and the application of its standards which is acknowledged by contemporary authorities in the field. The study came to some conclusions such as: that prophet Ibrahim peace be upon him is characterized with applying critical thinking standards in all his dialogues, avoiding fanaticism and bias. Another one is it clearly showed some important critical thinking standards such as: clarity, accuracy, depth, relevance and inquisitiveness. It also showed some of the critical characteristics such as: the need for promoting it as a culture, acquiring its tools such as inferring and concluding inquisitiveness and the ability to view issues from other people sides. Besides it showed the fact that Quranic text applied various aspects of what is emphasized by contemporary critical thinking studies through prophets’ dialogues with their nations. Finally, the study pointed out the need for studying the prophetic dialogues in the Quran for the purpose of finding out more critical thinking standards and its applications in debates and dialogues pertaining to Aqidah specially with opponents
YOLO-based automated detection of tomato leaf diseases
Tomato plants are highly susceptible to various
leaf diseases that threaten both crop yield and quality.
Traditional disease detection methods rely on manual
inspection, which is time-consuming, labour-intensive, errorprone, and impractical for large-scale agricultural use. This
article presents a simplified, yet comprehensive overview of an
intelligent system developed to automatically detect tomato leaf
diseases using YOLOv8, a state-of-the-art deep learning object
detection model. The system was trained on a well-annotated
and augmented dataset covering eight distinct tomato leaf
conditions, including Leaf Mold, Bacterial Spot, Septoria Leaf
Spot, and healthy leaves. The trained model achieved a high
detection accuracy of 99.3%, outperforming several previous
approaches reported in the literature. A user-friendly webbased interface was also created using Gradio to facilitate realworld adoption, allowing farmers and agricultural
practitioners to upload leaf images and receive instant, reliable
visual predictions. The promising results demonstrate the
model’s effectiveness, scalability, and potential for deployment
in precision agriculture to reduce crop losses and promote
sustainable farming practices
