Miłosierdzie antropologiczne w doświadczeniu mistycznym (Faustyna Kowalska) i refleksji filozoficznej (Józef Tischner). Elementy (teo-)antropologii ontologicznej Część I

    No full text
The article is the first part of the study in the scope of contains a comparative analysis of the two concepts of anthropological mercy: the religious, in the mystical sense, concept of Faustina Kowalska (Diary) and the ethical-religious, in the reflective sense, concept of Joseph Tischner. This article concerns the anthropological mercy in the approach of Kowalska. The general similarities between this two concepts in religious dimension allow us to consider them from the perspective of one problem: the interaction between the ethics and the religion. The problem is studied on the basis of ontological (theo-)anthropology (a person is researched from the perspectives of the possibility and obligation of being self). The purpose of the analysis is a justification for the thesis that the interaction between the ethics and the religion is based on metaphysical factor. This purpose is achieved by demonstrating that the ethical-religious anthropological mercy in the philosophical approach of Tischner have a metaphysical basis and essence − and that in this metaphysical terms can be explained the phenomena of the religious anthropological mercy in the Diary.Artykuł stanowi pierwszą część studium poświęconego analizie porównawczej dwu wizji miłosierdzia antropologicznego: religijnej o charakterze mistycznym – ukazanej w Dzienniczku Faustyny Kowalskiej i etyczno-religijnej o charakterze refleksyjnym − zawartej w myśli filozoficznej Józefa Tischnera.

The Discernment of the Deceits of the Devil in angelum lucis according to St. Ignatius of Loyola and St. John of the Cross

    No full text
The discernment of motions in the soul is raised, from the dawn of the Church, as a first necessity for the spiritual life.Motions that come from God pass through our soul, but there are also tendencies that are born of our own nature, and there are others that are suggested to us by the devil, whom St. Ignatius calls “the enemy of human nature”. It is therefore urgent to learn to discern where the different motions come from, to support them, or to combat them. In this field, because of its particular difficulty, special attention should be paid to the deceptions of the devil “sub angelo lucis”, that is, those who are under the appearance of good or virtue.St. Ignatius of Loyola, in his Spiritual Exercises, gives fundamental Rules in this regard, and in other meditations helps to understand the need to clarify the thought and rectify the intention. St John of the Cross in his works completes this Ignatian reflection on the confusion created by the devil “sub angelo lucis”.Rozeznawanie diabelskich pokus rozwijało się od zarania dziejów Kościoła jako istotny element życia duchowego.

Oto są baranki młode is a popular religious song born in the renewed liturgical and pastoral activity of Dominican friars in Kraków in the early 1990s. The sources of the music and text are explored here, beginning with a long responsory at the end of the first millennium, through new text and music in France about 1900, to another textual variant at Tyniec in 1960 and finally new music at Kraków. Text and Dominican music combine to build a religious song with intense paschal overtones celebrating the reception of Baptism and the Eucharist. The author compares the generation of the Dominican mix of text and musical motifs favourably with the earliest Sung Propers of the Roman Mass.Oto są baranki młode to popularna pieśń liturgiczna, wyrastająca z nurtu odnowy liturgicznej i duszpasterskiej, jaka miała miejsce w środowisku krakowskich dominikanów we wczesnych latach 90. ubiegłego wieku. Słowa połączone z dominikańską muzyką współtworzą śpiew liturgiczny pełen intensywnych paschalnych odniesień, celebrujący przyjęcie chrztu i Eucharystii. Autor przyrównuje powstanie dominikańskiego połączenia tekstu i motywów muzycznych z najwcześniejszymi śpiewanymi propria Missae w Mszy rzymskiej

In what Sense Can the Scientifically Driven Theology Be Considered as a Continuation of the Doctrinal Tradition?

The central goal of the presented article is to show that the type of rationality proper to the method of the contemporary sciences yields a unique conceptual environment in which the spirit of rationality instilled to the theological thought by its encounter with the Greek philosophy finds its natural expansion. At the outset, the origins of the Greek rationality in the Ionian school of philosophy are briefly discussed in order to illuminate their adequacy for the exposition and defense of doctrine in the times of the early Church Fathers. Next, the specificity of the scholastic method of St. Thomas Aquinas briefly surveyed to indicate the nature of the unique harmony between faith and reason achieved by the Angelic Doctor. In the following step, the role of rationality in theology is gleaned through negative examples of its elimination as evident in nominalism and the subsequent Lutheran intervention. This is followed by a short discourse into of the origins and the specificity of the contemporary scientific method with particular emphasis on the method’s unique potential to expand and deepen the Greek rationality. Finally, a case study of the evolutionary theology is offered in which the implementation of the dynamic (evolutionary) picture of the Universe as the conceptual foundation opens up new and profound ways of understanding the Universe’s meaning and the meaning of man in particular. Thus the spirit of the hellenistic rationality in theology is not only preserved but also significantly enhanced

In the first years of political transformation in Poland starting in 1989, one of the crucial issues was the reform of education, including changes in the procedure of professional advancement for teachers. At that time, it was also important for the Catholic Church to restore Religious Education in schools, which returned to the state education system in the 1990–1991 school year. Since then, RE teachers have had the same rights and obligations as teachers of compulsory subjects and undergone the same professional advancement procedure. Twenty years have passed since the new procedure of career progression for teachers was introduced in Poland. Therefore the author of the article attempts to answer the following questions: To what extent does the procedure meet the challenges of the information society and in what direction should it evolve due to the rapid development of information and communication technology in the world? In the first years of political transformation in Poland starting in 1989, one of the crucial issues was the reform of education, including changes in the procedure of professional advancement for teachers. The paper presents a description of moral pseudonorms, which displace proper moral norms from our consciousness and action as well as distort our morality. The study analyzes mainly the pseudonorms that generate the fundamentals of legalism and their opposition – the fundamentals of moral anarchism. The first groups of pseudonorms identifies morality with civil law, especially criminal law. On the other hand the other group of pseudonorms, equates morality with what is spontaneous, impulsive, authentic. The paper analyzes not only the scope and contentrelated distortion of moral norms caused by the substitutes of morality, but it also reveals the reasons of creating the pseudo norms in our consciousness. These reasons are induced by the impact of the pride center and the concupiscent center on our value response and by preferring the extramoral values over the moral ones. Exposing the mechanism of functioning of the pseudonorms in our moral consciousness is useful not only for ethics but also for psychology and pedagogy as well as for selfeducation and moral development. The paper presents a description of moral pseudonorms, which displace proper moral norms from our consciousness and action as well as distort our morality. The Year of Mercy proclaimed by Pope Francis undoubtedly contributed to a more intense proclamation of the truth about God’s mercy and the development of various forms of the cult of God’s mercy in the Church. In the context of this event, another question arises: how can this jubilee contribute to the revitalization of the Church’s charitable service in Poland? The present study attempts to answer this question. Its main sources are documents of the contemporary Church, especially the teaching of Pope Francis. The author presents mercy as a principle of pastoral care, because mercy is to permeate all the basic functions of the Church (kerygma-marytria, leiturgia, diakonia). Then, based on the data of the Central Statistical Office in Warsaw, he analyzes the current state of poverty in Poland. In the final part of the article, he indicates the criteria of the ministerial Church. In the author’s conviction, the application of these criteria is a condition for the successful implementation of the Church’s charitable service in Poland.

Ontogenesis of the “why” question from the perspective of genetic epistemology, and its philosophical implications

    Get PDF
The question “why” is generally thought to be one of the most important of philosophical questions. Indeed, many philosophers hold that it is responsible for defining the essential contours and identity of philosophical discourse itself. Moreover, all attempts to reject it are perceived as a manifestation of minimalist tendencies in philosophical research. This article presents Piaget’s views concerning the ontogenesis of the “why” question. After having reconstructed the latter, it seeks to spell out their potential philosophical implications. The author argues that ontogenetic considerations can certainly play a heuristic role in the formulation of philosophical theses and hypotheses, and that they can lead to a correcting of the conceptions we tend to have of certain philosophical questions – namely, ones that do not refer to any empirical data. The question “why” is generally thought to be one of the most important of philosophical questions. Dialogicity of faith: Tomáš Halík, Joseph Ratzinger and Józef Tischner

In the philosophical analysis of the phenomenon of faith, especially in the context of the man in whose life the faith is the response, we concluded that faith has the dialogical character, that means that faith existed only in the dialog – in the dialog with God, in the dialog with another man, in the dialog with community. The dialogical faith points that the man, like in the patristic and contemporary orthodox theology, is the being which exists only for the another, and existed in that kind it is truly the person. This is also the main thesis of the philosophy of dialogue. In the philosophical analysis of the phenomenon of faith, especially in the context of the man in whose life the faith is the response, we concluded that faith has the dialogical character, that means that faith existed only in the dialog – in the dialog with God, in the dialog with another man, in the dialog with community.
