Mobility vs firepower.
The purpose of this paper is to examine the relationship between mobility and firepower as they apply to the employment of armor and the defense against armor on the battlefield. Those who predicted with some accuracy the armored formation concept as a decisive weapon visualized firepower and mobility as compatible and stressed the principle of mobility as equally decisive with the well accepted principles of the offensive and mass. This led, then, to a consideration of the principles of mobility, i.e., the principle of maneuver. Mobility is analyzed as to the factors which create mobility. Contents: introduction; principles of war; analysis of mobility; mobility and firepower; conclusions; and recommendations
