    This report on the organization, training and operation of the Naval Shore Fire Control Parties in the Southern France operation is submitted in the hope that future planners of Naval Gunfire Support may benefit by it. For planning the Southern France operation, there was a large file of proposed plans, organizations and miscellaneous ideas on Naval Shore Fire Control Parties, but none of these were followed up by a report pointing out either weaknesses or advantages of the prior-envisioned plan. This report is the consolidated report of the officers who actually led these observer parties through combat. It presents the plan and the result for comparison

A time lag elapses between the date of change from one type of battle casualty status to another and the date the individual notification is processed through the Office of The Adjutant General.
