Aerial resupply of the armored division. A research report prepared at The Armored School, Fort Knox, Kentucky, 1951-1952.
This paper is an attempt at analysis of the effect that the use of cargo aircraft might have on the armored division the above circumstances. The approach is a hypothetical situation in which an armored division, equipped with new types of vehicles, attacks an enemy line of deliberate defense. Upon effecting a penetration the division goes into the exploitation phase in an attempt to link up with an airborne force which has seized as an objective an industrial center far inside enemy lines. A combination of aircraft types is utilized, and each tactical situation that is developed is met with an open mind and an effort to avoid bias of any kind.
