    This issue of Impact, a companion volume to the tactical issue of May 1945, is devoted solely to the role played by strategic bombing in the European war, and concerns itself with the coordinated effort of the U. S. 8th and 15th Air Forces and the RAF Bomber Command. Emphasis has been laid on the over-all results of this campaign, in terms of the effectiveness of bombing specific German industrial systems. Consequently, the part played by the fighter in this strategic war has been mentioned only where it bears directly on the main subject.     This paper is about the 710th Tank Battalion in the Angaur-Peleliu Campaign, code name Stalemate II. It is a study of how the tanks of the 710th were used under adverse conditions of terrain and weather during a period of groping and "cut and try" developments in so far as the use of armor in the Pacific was concerned. Based on this study, definite conclusions are drawn as to the best use of tanks in similar actions in the future.
