    Long range reconnaissance patrol study.

    The purpose of this study was to determine the suitability of a long range reconnaissance patrol organization and a concept of operational employment developed by V U.S. Army Corps. Test 1: to determine a basic patrol mission that can be reasonably be expected to be accomplished. Test 2: to determine the minimum essential number of personnel to man a patrol. Test 3: to determine during the CPX "top weight" the number of patrols required to cover the Corps area adequately in an operation of this type. Test 4: to determine the suitability and effectiveness of the communication concept. Test 5: to determine the suitability of patrol AM radios. Additional tests include: patrol FM radio; composition and concept of operation of base stations; brevity codes and devices; personnel and organization structure; suitability of equipment; aviation support and employment of Army aircraft; concept of operational employment; and a study of the duration of patrol employment in enemy territory

These terrain photographs were taken and prepared by the American Battle Monuments Commission, as provided in the act of Congress of March 4, 1923, to complete the historical record of the operations of the American units. The series comprises 69 albums containing 1,396 photographs. Complete sets of these albums have been deposited with the National Archives, the Library of Congress, the Historical Division of the War Department General Staff, and the Command and Staff College
